Chapter 58 The Sad Professor

Chapter 58 The Sad Professor

Immediately after Dumbledore left, the auditorium was buzzing with excitement.

The students of Ravenclaw House were busy telling other students what had just happened.

"Everyone go into sleeping bags!" Penello yelled, "Students of Ravenclaw, go to sleep quickly, and no one can talk!"

Prefect Robert has turned into a useless dog, squatting on the ground aimlessly, looking at the ceiling of the auditorium.

The loss of the door knocker hit him hard. Even when he came to the auditorium, he was dragged by his roommate.

Penello had to replace Robert and temporarily perform the duties of the prefect.

"Come on." Cedric said to Cho and William.

They grabbed three sleeping bags and hid in a corner, and the twins squeezed in.

Qiu told the three of them what happened just now, and they all fell silent.

"You said, is that Death Eater still in the castle?" Qiu asked quietly after a while.

"Dumbledore obviously thought so," said Cedric.

"That man is really bold. I don't think he broke into Hogwarts suddenly. He probably sneaked in while Dumbledore was away at Christmas."

"But we watched the school all Christmas," said Fred.

"Just a few students, if there are strangers, we will definitely be able to find them."

The five of them got into sleeping bags with all their clothes on, and chatted with their upper bodies on their elbows.

"What do you think of Peeves' words?" George asked.

"He's lying," Cho denied. "Professor Snape just sat in the hall, and everyone saw it."

"But, I don't think he's lying." Fred shook his head. "No one dares to lie in front of Professor Dumbledore, even Peeves."

"That's right!" George straightened up. "Remember the trial by the Ministry of Magic? Minister Fudge and the others saw Snape appear at the scene of the attack."

"But Snape was in Dorset at the time," Cedric said. "Both Professor Dumbledore and Mr. Newt Scamander provided key evidence."

"Yes, but I don't think the Ministry of Magic is lying." Fred frowned. "Does this mean that someone is really pretending to be Snape?"

"It's possible." William nodded, "I know several ways to pretend to be someone else, for example, compound potion."

"That Death Eater probably has a grudge against Professor Snape." Qiu analyzed, "But I still don't understand why he stole an old door knocker."

"Could that kind of thing be able to revive... the mysterious man?"

No one could answer where William vaguely saw the word Ravenclaw ring, but he took the book "Hogwarts, a School History" home for Christmas.

"Lights out now!" the Head Boy yelled. "I want everyone in their sleeping bags and stop talking!"

All the candles were extinguished at once. The only light now came from the silver ghosts, who wandered about talking gravely to the prefects. The enchanted ceiling, like the sky outside, is full of stars.

In this case, the auditorium was still full of whispers, and William felt as if he was sleeping in the open air with a breezy face.

Hiding in his arms, Bobocha has fallen asleep peacefully at this moment, but it has a big heart.

Every hour a teacher showed up in the auditorium to see if all was well.

Around three o'clock in the morning, when many of the students had finally fallen asleep, Professor Dumbledore entered.

Dumbledore was looking for Robert. Robert had eaten chocolate. Although he was depressed, he almost recovered.

Robert was not far from William, Cedric, and the twins, and they quickly pretended to be asleep.

At this time, Dumbledore's footsteps were getting closer.

"Any sign of the knocker, Professor?" asked Robert hoarsely.

"No, how is it here?"

"Everything is under control, Professor."

"Well, there's no need to ask them to change places now. I've replaced the door knocker for Ravenclaw House, and you can send everyone back tomorrow."

"What about the original...knocker, Professor?" Robert's voice trembled.

"It will come back when needed." Dumbledore said seriously: "No one can take away the public property of Hogwarts."

The hall door slammed open again, and there was a slight sound of footsteps.

You didn't have to open your eyes to know it was Snape, only he walked like a ghost.

"Principal?" Snape asked after entering.

Several people were still lying quietly, listening attentively, including Qiu.

"I have checked several secret passages, but they are not there. Filch checked the main building of the castle, and they are not there either."

"Where's the Astronomy Tower? Professor Trelawney's room? Where the owls roost?"

"I checked everything..."

"Very well, Severus, I don't think a Death Eater would linger."

"How did the other party do it? Do you have any opinion on this, Headmaster?" Snape asked.

William lifted his head a little so that he could hear better with his other ear.

"Many, Severus, and each one is different."

William opened his eyes a little, and peeked over where they were standing.

Dumbledore's back was turned to him, but he could see Robert's face, engrossed, and the profile of Snape, who seemed angry.

Snape shot Robert a look, and he walked away knowingly.

"What does the Ministry say," Snape asked after a moment, "what exactly is the Department of Mysteries missing?"

"Connelly said the planetary chamber was attacked..."

"Ha! Another lie," Snape sneered.

"I think so too," said Dumbledore.

Snape was silent for a moment, then whispered: "You remember our conversation, Headmaster, just - oh - a week after term started?"

Snape's lips were barely parted when he spoke, as if he didn't want others to overhear their conversation.

"Remember, Severus," said Dumbledore.

"As if—the title Dark Lord—only his followers would—"

"It's just a title, and it doesn't explain anything. We can't doubt innocent people for no reason just because of this." Dumbledore said calmly.

"Innocent? What about me?" Snape's voice sharpened sharply. "Headmaster, someone is deliberately framing me and taking revenge on me..."

"Sorry, Severus." Dumbledore said with guilt in his voice. "I will not let you enter Azkaban again, to face those dementors, I promise..."

Snape let out a "huh", as if mocking, he turned his back to Dumbledore, and said coldly: "It's okay, dementors are useless to me, you know, I've never been happy for a long time."

Dumbledore opened his mouth, but he had nothing to say. He was silent for a moment, and patted the shoulder of the man in front of him.

Snape stared out of the window in a daze. From William's angle, he could see the professor's hands trembling and tears streaming down his face no matter what.

This picture is funny and sad.
