A certain Hogwarts rune professor
Chapter 275 Confiscated Things
Chapter 275 Confiscated Things
Felix came down the spiral staircase with an empty hand, as he always did, unlike other professors who carried books and parchment with them.
Passing the Castle Warden's office on the first floor, he heard Lupin's voice.
"...Unfortunately, I have really troubled you. If you can find it, please let me know."
Lupine's thin figure came out of the office and passed Felix, "Hello, Professor Haipu." He was stunned for a moment and said with a smile.
"Hello, Professor Lupine, you look good." Felix replied.
When he left, Felix knocked on the door of Filch's office, "Mr. Filch, are you there?" The door was pushed open, and Filch's face emerged from the shadows, a pair of goldfish eyes Stare at him.
"Professor Hemp, I thought . . . " he muttered, moving the door aside, followed by Felix, who was in a rather small room next to the castle's entrance hall.
There are no windows in the room, and even in the daytime, it looks dim and cramped. The only light source is a bright green lantern hanging from the ceiling. There are many wooden filing cabinets lined up on the surrounding walls, some of which are already full. The corners of the yellowed and old parchment protruded from the cracks.
There were a few chairs in the office, but Felix had no intention of sitting down. He secretly cast an air freshening spell on himself, and finally got rid of the ubiquitous fishy smell.
Felix met the eyes of a scrawny cat on the table, its eyes were large, bulging, and shining.
"She seemed very human," Felix said.
Filch was delighted at the use of the word "she" and said with a quivering jaw, "You'll never find a cat who's smarter, I say, more human, or even better than a human... at least She will not violate school rules, and will help you."
Felix listened patiently to how Mrs. Norris was patrolling the corridors by herself (the cat?), until Filch was out of breath, and he said, "But she looks a little malnourished."
Filch hoarse, as if no one had ever asked this question, he faltered and said: "She is a bit picky eater, I persuaded her, but she only eats my fried fish..."
"I have some nutritional supplements here, the formula is very ingenious, the key is that there is no harm." Felix said, his right hand brushed the ring on his left hand, and a square wooden box appeared in his hand.
He opened the lid of the box, glanced at it briefly, and said with some regret: "There's only half left..."
Filch said hesitantly, "Norris might not like—" He took out a small glass bottle from the square wooden box, opened the stopper, and a strange aroma diffused, diluting the fishy smell in the room .
Mrs. Norris immediately raised her head and stared at the glass bottle with a longing expression.
It didn't move, though, and looked up at Filch, who said, "It's all right, Norris, have a drink."
The cat immediately uttered a piercing cry, jumped off the table, ran to the owner quickly, stuck out its tongue and licked the bright red liquid in the bottle, and stretched out its tongue in satisfaction until it finished licking the last drop. A lazy waist, let out a "snoring" sound.
Filch's eyes were shining strangely, and he couldn't help saying, "Norris never did that. She doesn't care about the supplements in the pet store."
Felix explained with a smile: "The formula comes from a potions master who was awarded the Order of Merlin Second Class. It was left behind by Professor Belby. Although he just made it casually, the effect must be far better than the products on the market."
"The recipe—"
"I can give it to you. The configuration method is very simple. You don't even need to use a magic wand, but you may use some dragon's blood."
"It's nothing," said Filch quickly.
"Do you have parchment here?"
"Yes—" Filch quickly opened the drawer and turned out a stack of blank parchment. Felix hooked his fingers and let a piece of parchment float in front of him. Following his gaze, the paper automatically appeared A string of smooth letters.
All the while, Filch stared at the parchment in the air, his knuckles twisting together.Felix asked casually: "By the way, I just saw Professor Lupine."
"Yes." Filch said unconsciously.
"He came over—"
"Ask for confiscated items," said Filch, his eyes still fixed on the parchment. "Professor Hype, don't blame me for provoking . . . he's not a very nice guy."
"Why do you say that?"
Filch came to his senses, he glanced at the door vigilantly, and said in a low voice, "He was dishonest when he was in school, and he liked to break school rules...of course not as many as his two friends, but I can recognize him, he is The one with the bad idea."
He looked at Felix and complimented, "Unlike you, you were a decent guy at school—"
Felix said with some amusement, "I got into a lot of trouble at school."
Filch said slyly, "It's different—sir, it's different. You never give anyone trouble unless it comes to you first," he said, pointing to a filing cabinet by the wall. "There's a drawer there that's Belonging to them - Lupine and his funny friends, if corporal punishment hadn't been abolished at Hogwarts..."
He muttered dissatisfiedly, "Mr. Pringle has caught up with the good times, unlike me, oh, Pringle is the former castle administrator, he left a lot of tools, and I keep all of them."
Felix looked at the iron chain hanging on the wall that had been carefully cleaned, and shook his head. It was reasonable for little wizards to hate Filch. He knew early on that Filch liked to punish students physically, and even though physical punishment was abolished, mental punishment remained.
And Filch is trying every means to bring out the old and bring forth the new and carry forward this skill.
"Mr. Filch, you just said that Professor Lupine came to get his things back—"
"That's right, more than ten years ago, he was wandering around with his friends. I questioned them and found a suspicious, layered parchment from them. I suspect that there are some secrets hidden in it. So it was confiscated."
As Filch said, half of his face twitched, "You don't know how bad they are, after the parchment was confiscated, they still looked indifferent," he said viciously, "They must think that I can't decipher the parchment. I would throw away my secrets, so they could secretly pick them up, but—I didn’t, instead I kept them, locked in the drawer marked 'Highly Dangerous'."
"Then what about the parchment that was returned to Professor Lupine?" Felix asked curiously.
"...lost it," Filch said defiantly. "I don't remember when it was lost. Maybe they took it themselves."
"But as you said, Professor Lupine came to beg for..."
"Who knows, maybe his friends didn't tell him, or other little wizards stole it from me over the years," Filch said regretfully.
The parchment fell from midair, and Felix handed the formula to Filch, "Please keep it."
"thanks, thanks--"
"You're welcome, Mr. Filch, I got what I wanted too."
Filch looked at him in astonishment, Felix said with a smile: "Look, isn't Mrs. Norris very satisfied?" He pointed to the cat at his feet, which was lazily rubbing against his trousers .
