Chapter 25 - Lesson 1
Chapter 25 The first lesson of school
The model put on by Sherlock in the lecture was a humanoid magical creature with a goblin-like appearance but a bright red hat on its head.
The little wizards below all poked their heads towards the red hat. Even the pure-blooded little wizards whose parents were both wizards were basically seeing this creature for the first time.
In other words, dark magic creatures in the wizarding world are not common.
In a normal society, after the footprints and whereabouts of Muggles have spread to every corner of the world, wizards' exploration of magical creatures all over the world has gradually entered a bottleneck.
Magical creatures that can be domesticated and can act as assistants to wizards become pets, such as cat cats, owls, mice (owls and mice in the wizarding world are not the same species as those in the normal world), etc.
Those that are dangerous, but those that have the opportunity to be domesticated by professional wizards are protected by collective captivity, and the most representative one is the fire dragon.
The dark magical creatures that are dangerous but cannot be domesticated, or are not worthy of being domesticated, are driven to inaccessible forests, rivers or deserts, so that they will not pose a threat to Muggles or wizards with low magic levels.
So now, if the new generation of wizards are not professional adventurers, they rarely have the opportunity to see real black magic creatures.
The red hat model that Sherlock took out was purchased at an alchemy shop in Diagon Alley.
He saw the living dragon models in the display cabinet, and found them very interesting, so he specifically found the owner, hoping to customize a batch of magic models about black magic creatures.
Making this kind of thing is much easier than making a fire dragon model, the owner of the alchemy item shop readily agreed.
And it was proposed that the quantity should be large, and the model itself has no technical content, so Sherlock didn't charge much.
These models are perfect for teaching first-year students.
The freshmen who have just entered school and haven't learned any magic can see the real black magic creatures with their own eyes without worrying about any danger.
And the red hat model Sherlock placed on the podium, after landing, held a wooden stick that was huge compared to its own size, and walked around on the podium with its teeth and claws, as if it would be ready at any time. To see which little wizard is not pleasing to the eye, it is like hitting him in the head.
"It looks so ugly!"
Some students discussed.
"It's like the goblins guarding Gringotts, but it looks much more vicious than those goblins."
"That red hat it's wearing on its head is kind of interesting."
"The hat is bad—that's a sign of its evil."
An erratic voice caught Sherlock's attention. It was a little Ravenclaw girl with dark golden brown hair. He still remembered her name when he was roll call.
Luna Lovegood.
A name is very familiar, like a character who also played a lot of roles in the original work.
Sherlock tapped the podium with the end of his wand, drawing the attention of the students in the classroom back to him, and began to introduce the origin of this black magic creature.
"The red hat is a kind of black magic creature that is mainly distributed in the ruins of the Nordic battlefields or in the forest. They look like goblins and have a tyrannical nature. Their main weapons are those sharp claws and the wooden stick in their hands."
"According to statistics, from 1900 to the present, in nearly 100 years, there have been 86 red hat attacks throughout Europe, of which 43 people died, 42 of them were Muggles, and a wizard who was not good at learning was knocked down. Die with a broken skull."
Hearing these bloody data, all the little wizards couldn't help but breathe heavily, even looking at the red hat model, they were not as excited as they were at the beginning.
"They are named because they often wear a red hat on their heads, so does anyone know why this black magic creature only wears a red hat?"
Sherlock asked questions at the right time to enliven the atmosphere in the classroom.
But obviously there were very few little wizards who knew the answer, and it just so happened that the little girl Sherlock had just noticed raised her hand.
"Miss Lovegood."
Luna stood up, her silver eyes seemed to be wandering away all the time, not looking at the things in front of her, giving people a feeling of madness.
"Blood, red hats will use the blood of their prey to dye their hats red, and when their hats fade, they will go to the next prey."
Hearing her answer, Sherlock nodded slightly, instead of giving a compliment, he gave the most direct reward.
"Five points for Ravenclaw. We got a standard answer from Miss Lovegood."
"Wearing a red cap dyed with blood on its head, that's how the dark magic creature got its name."
"However, although this magical creature has a brutal personality, it actually poses a very general threat to wizards. In the Department of Magic's classification of the dangers of magical animals, the red hat's level is: XXX."
"As long as the wizard uses magic on them, no matter what the effect is, they will be scared away, so it is enough to see that the wizard who was killed by the red hat in this century will become a joke among many people."
"I don't hope that such a joke will appear among my students in the future. After today's defense class is over, each of you must write an article specifically about the habits, weaknesses and correct coping methods of creatures like red hats. Ten inches of parchment, hand it to me next class."
"I will choose the one who has completed the best homework, and give him this red hat model as a reward."
Hearing what Sherlock said, the girls were still not interested in this reward. After all, the red hat looks a bit ugly, but the boys were all excited.
It's all a group of 11-year-olds, who wouldn't love a magical model that looks like a living thing?
Before the defense lesson ended, Sherlock showed them the cloth bag in his hand.
"It contains the black magic creatures that we will study in the next semester. According to the completion of your homework, I will also send them as rewards. At the end of the semester, the students who have won the most model rewards, I can Allow him to skip the final exam and get an O (Outstanding) straight away."
His words also mobilized the enthusiasm of the girls.
The attraction of getting an O directly without taking an exam is still very strong. The freshmen of the two colleges are all looking forward to the future Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
Sherlock's first class for first-year freshmen was very good in terms of the final effect.
But the biggest test for him today is not teaching these freshmen who have just entered school and haven't even learned a single spell.
It is the class of the second graders in the afternoon.
