Chapter 1517 The Fantasy Journey of Hero Edward
Chapter 1517 The Fantasy Journey of Hero Edward
On the baseball field, the batter completed a game-winning home run with a beautiful hit, and the audience cheered. This batter was the adult Edward!
“Once my bones were set and I was an adult, I started planning to create more room for myself at Ashton.”
What follows is a fast-paced montage of footage.
Of course the protagonist must be young Edward, the hero on the football field who leads his team to victory. Outside the court, a beautiful little girl called out the name of the boy she had secretly loved for a long time.
"Edward Bloom!"
The other girls screamed his name.
At that moment, he was the focus of the audience!
Lawn mowers roared along the lawn.
Edward stood behind the truck, which read "Bloom Gardening Designs." There are his workers on every lawn.
He contributed to the book "In Praise of the Boy Scouts".
And of course there’s the everlasting backdrop of Don Price glaring.
Edward was still fearless: "I won't leave until you come out."
Then there was a rumble like a train passing by.
Edward continued shouting, "I'm Edward Bloom! I want to talk to you!"
From what Edward said, his life has always been so wonderful. Ever since he became an adult, he has always been the center of attention among the crowd.
On a hill, Edward climbed up the last steep slope and came to a cave. Outside the cave entrance, several red-headed American herons competed with each other to eat the remains of animals eaten by the giant.
It seems that every protagonist and every hero is surrounded by such background villains!
A voice came: "I'll go."
Edward's voiceover sounded: "Since I know the way of my death in advance, I am sure that the giant cannot kill me. However, I hope he does not crush my bones."
Inside the farm!
In high school, at the science fair, Edward's technological invention - a perpetual motion machine - won the first prize. He posed with the judges, flashbulbs flashing.
"I was the most famous person in Ashton's history, until one day a stranger came here," Edward's voiceover says.
Sheepherd: "He's a beast!"
Outside the city hall building, there was a gathering, many holding shotguns. Backdrop Don Price was still there in the crowd.
The rumblings grew louder and the ground began to shake. Even Edward couldn't help but worry: "How old is this guy?"
At the graduation ceremony, Edward received his diploma and the principal hugged him tightly.
Edward said: "I'm going to talk to him and see if I can convince him to leave here."
The little girl said, "He ate my dog!"
On the middle school drama stage!
The handsome Edward leads the cast in the curtain call and is the star of the play. Of course, the backdrop is indispensable, with Don Price standing on the side of the stage in costume, playing the role of a horse.
There was a chorus of agreement from the crowd. Then the hero appears!
Edward was confident: "Believe me, it will take some effort for him to defeat me."
Heroic Edward positioned himself for combat.
"Hello there!"
In the sheepfold, a figure slowly approached two fat sheep, making them bleat in fear. The stranger seized them with his huge hands, carried them away in one of his arms. But the camera still couldn't see the stranger's complete appearance.
Everyone turned to see who was speaking. The crowd made a way, and the person who had just spoken came to the front. It was none other than Edward Bloom.
Don Price throws his worthless lima pod seedlings into the trash.
"Go away!"
The tenant farmer said, "He ate a whole cornfield!"
Edward picked up a stone and prepared to stage a new David versus Goliath drama.
The mayor shouted: "I will not allow riots in this town. Who wants to talk to him now?"
At this time, a loud roar came from the depths of the cave.
The hothead with the shotgun said, "Mayor, if you don't stop him, we will!"
The two farmers shook their heads. A huge hole was opened on the side of the barn, like a human figure, but who could be that big?
Edward reveled in the thunderous applause and greeted the audience with a smile.
Edward shouted in his most solemn voice.
But no one answered.
Mayor: "Boy, that monster will crush you easily."
In the town, Edward rushed out of a burning house holding a dog.
The giant's voice was so powerful that it blew Edward's hair back.
On the basketball court, Edward made a beautiful long-range shot that won the game for the team. The audience went crazy for him, and his teammates gathered around him to congratulate him. Only Don Price looked on coldly.
Farmer: “There’s no way to reason with him!”
Then suddenly the giant appeared. He arched his body and pushed the stunned Edward halfway up the mountain with one palm.
Carl the Giant is a true giant. Not only tall, but also strong. He was a complete savage, with a beard that reached to his elbows and skin that was scarred and blistered. The clothes on his body were dirty and torn. Who knows what's hidden in his messy hair.
Carl leaned over Edward, his huge body blocking out the sun. Edward threw a stone at him and it bounced off without even catching his attention.
Carl yelled, "Why are you here?"
Edward thought about the best answer: "You can eat me. Our town decided to offer a human sacrifice, so I volunteered."
Carl narrowed his eyes, confused. Edward stood up.
Edward continued: "My arms are a little thin, but the meat on my legs is delicious. I mean, even I want to eat it. (pause) But you have to eat it quickly, because I am more afraid of pain."
Edward closed his eyes and dropped his hands by his side, as if waiting to be eaten. Carl stared at him, not knowing what to do.
After a while, Edward opened his eyes slightly to see what the giant was doing. He was relieved to see that the giant had no intention of eating him.
Edward continued: "I can't go back, I am a sacrifice. If I go back, everyone will laugh at me as a coward. I would rather be your dinner than be a coward."
Carl sat down with a thud, crestfallen.
Edward continued: "Here, eat from my hand first to help you appetize."
Edward thrust a hand into Carl's mouth, but the giant spat it out.
Carl: "I don't want to eat you, I don't want to eat anyone else. I'm just hungry and I'm too big."
This is a sad truth. Carl was not a beast, he was a deformity, a giant, but he was still a human being.
Edward sat beside him. Edward asked: "Have you ever thought about it, maybe you are not too big, maybe this town is too small. You see."
The camera pans behind them, overlooking Ashton, a small town in a small valley.
Edward: "I heard that in real cities, they build buildings so tall that you can't even see the tops."
Karl was curious: "Really?"
Edward nodded: "I'm not going to lie to you. They have a buffet. You can eat as much as you want. Don't you eat a lot?"
Karl was surprised: "Yes."
Edward: "Then why are you wasting your time in a small town? You are so tall, you should go to a big city."
Karl smiled, but the smile quickly disappeared, showing a suspicious expression, and a little sad!
Carl: "You just want me to leave, right? That's why they sent you."
Edward: "What's your name, Giant?"
"Karl."
Edward: "My name is Edward. To be honest, I do want you to leave, Carl, but I want to go with you. This town is too small for you and for someone as ambitious as me." It's too small. I can't even stay here for one more day."
Karl was confused: "You don't like it here?"
Edward: "I like every inch of the land here, but I am trapped in this small world, and how much room can I grow. How about coming with me?"
Karl thought for a while, then nodded: "Okay!"
Edward said happily: "Okay."
They shake hands.
"I'll clean it up for you now."
Carl cut his own hair with hedge-trimming scissors, and Edward made him a coat from a leftover army tent.
The camera switched to show the middle school brass band marching and playing on the street, arousing everyone's emotions. All the good citizens of Ashton gathered to see Edward and Carl off. Several people who had appeared before shed tears.
The mayor spoke loudly to the crowd: "Edward Bloom, Ashton's darling, our hearts are heavy to see you leaving. Please take this "key to the city" with you, and remember, anytime If you want to come back, all our doors will be open for you."
Edward lowered his head slightly and the mayor hung the key around his neck. Edward and Carl set off amidst cheers, waving goodbye to everyone as they walked.
Background Don Price is hiding in the corner smoking. Edward is gone, but he doesn't feel sad. He stamped out the cigarette butts, hoping to crush Edward to death.
Many citizens took to the streets to hug Edward or shake hands with him.
Edward's voiceover came: "The afternoon I left Ashton, it seemed like everyone wanted to give me advice."
Different people: "Get yourself a good girl! Don't trust a Kentucky man! Don't be too proud, Edward Bloom!"
Edward's voiceover sounded again: "But there is one person whose advice I value the most."
The crowd parted, and he found the old woman from the swamp standing before him.
As if a spell had been cast on the crowd, the crowd gradually became quiet. The old woman motioned for Edward to lean over and whisper something in his ear.
Edward's voiceover tells everyone what she said: "She said the biggest fish in the river grew so big because it had never been caught."
This advice confused Edward.
Edward thanked the old woman: "Okay. Thank you!"
Edward and Carl continued walking. The old woman shuffled away, knowing her advice would be ignored.
Carl asked: "What did she say?"
Edward shook his head: "I don't understand."
The next shot is from the road, with Edward and Carl walking out of Ashton, each carrying a duffel bag.
Edward's voiceover sounded: "There are two roads outside Ashton, one is a newly built asphalt road, and the other is a dirt road. People no longer take that old dirt road. It is said that it is haunted."
Edward and Carl came to a fork in the road, with the new road on the left and the dirt road going straight ahead. Warning signs are posted at the intersections of dirt roads to remind pedestrians of the dangers and not to take this road.
“Since I’m not planning on going back to Ashton, I thought I’d take this opportunity to see what’s on the dirt road.”
Carl looked warily at the dirt road.
Carl asked, "Do you know anyone who has walked this road?"
Edward: "The poet North Winslow passed by. He was going to Paris, France. He must have fallen in love with Paris, because there was no news from him since. You take that new road, and I'll take it from here. Let's Meet at the other end of the road.”
Karl was a little suspicious: "You won't run away, right?"
Edward: "Don't worry, you're holding my duffel bag."
Carl cheered up, even though he had to grab an extra bag.
There are overgrown vegetation on the dirt road, but it doesn't make people feel creepy. The sun is still shining and the birds are still singing.
Edward fiddled with the "key to the city" and whistled.
The road gradually narrowed and became increasingly rough. Dots of sunlight shine through the thick canopy, and particles in the air can be seen dancing in the sunlight. Edward was still whistling.
Edward's voice lowered as he turned the corner and saw that the path was covered with thick, thorny vines. He stopped and realized that the birds had stopped singing and the forest was deathly silent.
He looked back at the way he came. It was easy to go back. But Edward resisted the temptation and moved on.
He carefully stepped over the thorns, but his trousers were torn by the sharp thorns.
Edward was sweating profusely, and there were scars all over his body. He kept chasing away all kinds of mosquitoes, and finally had to use his hat to swat them. At this moment, a croaking crow swooped down and snatched the hat from Edward's hand.
Edward couldn't help but swear!
He picked up a stone and threw it at the crow. The crow missed it, but hit a honeycomb, and swarms of bees flew out buzzing.
Edward ran away in a hurry, and every step was still full of danger.
Edward was bruised, bruised, bitten and bruised all over.
A tattered warning sign fell to the ground. He picked it up and read the words on it:
warn! There’s a jumping spider ahead!
Of course, he had seen that the road ahead was covered with cobwebs, thick enough to keep out the rain.
"Sometimes, a rational man will suppress his pride and admit that he has made a serious mistake. However, I have never been a rational man."
Edward threw away the warning sign and headed towards the spider web.
“I recall what I learned in church Sunday school: The harder things are, the greater the rewards.”
Edward walked out of the forest, wiping the cobwebs and spiders off his body. A spider stuck to his sleeve and he had to jump a few times to shake it off. He always had a tingling sensation on his body and always felt like there were spiders clinging to him.
There was a smooth gravel road under his feet again. Ahead was a town smaller than Ashton with only one main street, and wires stretched out from the woods all the way there. Dozens of pairs of shoes were hung from wires, the laces of each pair tied together.
He passed a sign that read: "Welcome to Ghost Town!"
