Chapter 11 Candlelight in the Eyes

Chapter 11 Candlelight in the Eyes
Nina is dead.

Not a piece of flesh, a bone, or a drop of blood was left.

Roland held her hand and sat from dusk till dawn, when the servant knocked on the door.

My hands are empty.

Afterwards, there was chaos and war.

However, it was not his physical 'father' Tyrese Collins who was furious, but...

Seth Weir, the butler.

"Master Collins, do you know what happened?"

The furious man exuded danger from head to toe. He slammed into the bed, first staying in front of the bed for a while, then moving around to the other side:
He lifted Roland up with one hand, pushed him against the wall, and strangled him.

"The ritual is only one step away..."

He was so angry that he let out a series of sharp, high and low screams!
He threw him to the floor in hysterics, pulling him by the hair—

"Two little bastards..."

"Look what you have done!!"

He seemed to have no idea what ritual Nina had performed, but he knew for sure that disappearing overnight was definitely not an escape. There was a mystery in the room that had not yet dissipated - this was a ritual, a ritual he had never seen before.

"Tell me...little bastard...what did your sister do."

His voice was like a snake squeezing its venom glands ready to attack, and his smelly, warm breath licked Roland's face.

"Tell me, Master Collins..."

"I beg you to tell me..."

"Please..."

He was sometimes gentle and sometimes fierce, and his unsteady and crazy emotions made Roland more and more frightened: he held his face and kept kissing the boy's forehead respectfully; then, he suddenly slapped the boy to the ground, tensed his body, and stepped on Roland's face with the sole of his shoe.

But then, he knelt down in great pain, sobbing, and used his fingertips and sleeves to wipe the blood from Roland's face and ears.

Over and over again.

"Why don't you tell me what happened?"

Roland was beaten so hard that his whole body throbbed with pain and he curled up into a ball.

He endured it in silence, without saying a word.

"Am I not worthy of a ceremony?" Seth's voice sounded frustrated, but his long nails strangled Roland's throat, wishing he could dig into it. "Why don't you tell me - what did you two little bastards plan in the room!!"

knock knock.

knocking.

Roland heard the voice of his 'father'.

This surprised him a little.

Because he addressed Seth as: Sir.

"Get in here! Thales! Look at what your two kids have done!!"

The arrival of Tallis Collins gave Seth Will an outlet for his anger. He let go of Roland, stood up with his hands hanging down, and grabbed Tallis Collins by the neck and smashed him against the wall as if he was throwing away a rag doll he no longer wanted.

Roland heard a loud 'bang'!
The pictures on the wall were shaken down.

what.

My travel expenses.

"You idiot!"

"Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!"

"I wasted half a year of my life! Idiot!"

For every insult he hurled, he smashed Tyrese Collins's head into the wall.

But no blood was shed.

The servants around stood quietly not far away, their bodies straight, silent, watching all this with a smile on their faces.

It's like a piece of human skin armor with a hard outer shell and a hollow inner shell.

"The ceremony cannot stop, Thales, you know that! It cannot stop!!" Seth shouted angrily, letting go of old Collins who was no longer in human form, and glancing at Roland who was curled up on the ground.

"Take good care of our 'Last Young Master'," he instructed the servants, "From today on, Thales, you are not allowed to participate in the ceremony. Keep an eye on him! I'm going to drain all his blood! I'm going to peel off his skin!!"

Thales stammered in response.

Roland heard a few crackling sounds of bones, and then pairs of shoes left the room.

Click.

The door was locked from the outside.

The room fell silent again.

Roland held his head and slowly got up from the ground.

His eyes were cold.

Miss Nina can't go wrong.

She can't go wrong.

I will definitely survive...

As she said.

I have to believe her...

Patience. Patience…

He rubbed his eyes, not knowing whether they were injured by the butler, his two eyeballs were swollen and painful, and felt like they were burning.

In sight——

Well.

There seems to be a small...spot of light floating in the empty sight?
Roland frowned and groped his way to the bed and sat down.

There are more and more 'white spots'.

They formed a straight, monotonous line, lying quietly in front of Roland.

As he continued to adjust and calm his breathing, it gradually became transparent and disappeared.

Roland twisted his body and the wooden bed creaked.

What he didn't expect was that as the sound rang out, the 'white line' appeared again.

It was like pale waves on the coastline, spreading around with a creaking sound - it was not moving fast, but it showed all the ups and downs along the way to Roland's eyes.

Roland sat stiffly. This time, his cheeks felt extremely sore, and his molars pressed against each other, rubbing back and forth more and more vigorously.

crunch.

Bang...bang...

bang bang...

He could even hear his own heart cheering loudly, and the celebrations from his internal organs intertwined into a celebration within his body.

If he wasn't hallucinating...

Can he see?
The incredulous boy slowly reached out his hand and placed it on the cabinet beside the bed.

Lift your index finger.

thump.

tap.

Just like last time.

A white line spread out from the tip of the index finger, and a ring-sized circle instantly spread out in all directions, sweeping the entire room clearly. It followed the ups and downs obediently, blowing away the black mist.

Wardrobe.

Dead rat on the ground.

stool.

Gas lamp.

Paintings hanging on the ground.

wall.

ceiling.

Roland trembled with excitement. He could not control himself. The surprise was like thunder that suddenly sounded in the rolling dark clouds, suddenly exploding his world into daylight.

Boom.

White lines spread.

dong dong.

White lines spread.

Like a child, he kept tapping on the cupboard with his five fingers. The boring muffled sound contained the joy and madness that had been suppressed for many years.

Ms. Nina...

Is this the gift you left for me?
Roland discovered it a few minutes later.

Not at all.

Because the vision becomes more 'complex'.

When he tapped, in addition to the spreading 'sound lines', he could also see lines of words emerging:

He shouldn't have known the words, but he understood them strangely.

They float on every object.

"Dead Rat"

"It is said that the oil painting is worth a lot of money (travel expenses)"

Thales Collins's front tooth

"A trace of mystery (about to dissipate)"

"Broken Floor"

Bow down.

"The Hands of the Blind Man"

This seemed like an explanation, coming from the knowledge in his and Nina's memories.

Roland discovered that as long as he could 'make' enough sound, he would hardly be blind anymore.

He stood up and walked around the room excitedly. It seemed as if white fireworks lit up his long-dark world.

This is Nina's gift...

She gave him a candle that would not go out.
