Chapter 57: The Unqualified Shandel

Chapter 57: The Unqualified Shandel
This is quite interesting.

A nun in a church monastery aspires to become an executor of the Inquisition.

During the conversation, Shandel told Roland embarrassedly that the first thing she tried was the Path of Holy Flame under the Judgment Criteria.

Obviously, she didn't succeed.

"…I was only 9 years old at that time. She walked in the cultists' lair in an elegant long dress, driving the flames to burn those filthy people to ashes: women, children, and the elderly - the judge alone almost burned the manor to the ground..."

When Shandel talked about Enid, his eyes sparkled with undisguised yearning:

"I can only wait in a safe place with Grandpa until we follow the second team into the scene. Except for Lady Enid, there is no one alive there."

"I have always aspired to become an Inquisition executive officer..."

"pity…"

“I don’t have the qualifications.”

Qualifications.

Roland vaguely remembered that this was the nth time he had heard this word.

"Qualifications?"

"Yes, it's a pity that I don't have the qualifications to embark on the path of the Holy Flame."

“I worked hard for several months…”

Having said that, Shandel sighed somewhat disappointedly, and smiled again after a few breaths:
“Fortunately, I have embarked on another great path of helping others.”

“The ritualists of the Saint’s Path may not be very aggressive at a low level, but we can help and heal our brothers and sisters who are injured in the fight against evil…”

"You, Mr. Collins."

Her brisk words livened up the air in the room.

The ritualists of the Saints' Road seem to be born with the power to subtly influence people's hearts.

"Me too, Miss Kratov."

Roland wanted to reach out his hand, but suddenly remembered that he had been reminded by the three ladies that it was wrong to do so. So, he rubbed his fingers, straightened his waist and bowed slightly:
"I am also honored to be able to work with a ritualist who has already embarked on the road to greatness while being an apprentice. Also, please thank Archbishop Kratov for me. I will definitely come to visit you when I recover from my injury..."

Shandel covered his mouth, waved his hand gently, and said that it was the responsibility of those who embarked on the road.

She didn't stay in Roland's ward for long. After telling Roland to get enough rest, she helped him empty the toilet bowl.

Fernandez came over in the afternoon.

Roland's recovery has been getting better and better recently, and he comes to the ward more frequently.

Prepare to take him out of the hospital.

As soon as someone entered the door, he felt like he was back home. He took an apple and put it in his mouth, and with his left and right hands, he opened the booklet on his legs.

Written on them are: "First Encounter with Ghosts" and "Book of Alien Skinning".

Both books are handwritten and the covers are very old.

"Has Lady Enid been here?" Fernandez glanced at the basket of fruit on the table, which contained quite a few cherry tomatoes.

Roland: "The apples were sent by Miss Kratov."

"Oh...huh?"

"K-Kratov?"

Fernandez's eyes widened.

"What's so surprising about that? She said she was my colleague. As the captain, you didn't know?"

Roland was puzzled.

Fernandez chewed a few times, his throat rolling for a long time before he uttered a sentence:

"I didn't know she would come to visit you in person."

Why not?
Kratov is not some noble lady who needs to be served by others. As a first-ring ritualist, what's wrong with her coming to visit her future teammates...?

“…There’s nothing wrong with this in itself.”

Fernandez hesitated and glanced at Roland: "Just pretend I didn't say anything..."

"There are two types of people I hate the most in my life."

"One type is the one who speaks half the words."

"Fernandez." Roland called out.

"Ok?"

"I don't have to ask about her. It's just that she cast a spell to warm the room, and after she left, something appeared in my head," Roland paused with difficulty, "something very... very wonderful, or strange appeared in my head. Anyway..."

"Strange?" Fernandez unconsciously clenched the book in his hand and leaned towards the bed: "What's going on?" Roland bit his lip and was silent for a moment.

shook his head.

"never mind."

Fernandez got a breath stuck in his neck and almost couldn't come up.

"Roland, we are the executors of the Tribunal and the closest brothers and sisters. If you encounter any problems that you don't understand, you can tell me..."

Roland hung his head and said nothing.

"Roland!" Fernandez's expression turned serious. "You can tell me whatever you want. What's a problem for you is not a problem for me."

"I…"

Roland hesitated.

"I don't know if I should tell you this..."

Fernandez said in a muffled voice: "I will keep it a secret for you, swear to the Father of All Things."

"Tell me, Roland."

"How you feel."

"Have you informed the nun who is watching over you?"

"Is there a voice speaking in your head?"

"still…"

Fernandez was half-standing up, ready to go out to look for someone.

"I do have voices in my head...some." Roland stopped him.

Fernandez looked serious: "Speak slowly, don't be in a hurry."

"It's fragmented, paragraphs of words..." Roland bent his other hand, rubbing his temple with his fingers, and his face wrinkled, "Someone said in my head..."

“It says…”

Slowly.

"Look…"

"It's just so uncomfortable to say half of the words."

Fernandez: ...

The room suddenly became quiet.

Fernandez looked at Roland expressionlessly, his thick lips stretched into a line without the slightest curve.

Roland: Hehehe.

He stared at the innocent-looking boy sitting on the hospital bed, rubbing his lips several times and gritting his teeth.

The sound seemed to be squeezed out from between teeth:
"You little bastard..."

Roland shrugged. "We are both in trouble now. Fernandez, I want to listen to the course about ghosts next."

The priest bit the apple viciously and said, "When your injury heals, I will have to train you seriously for a while."

"You're going to suffer."
-
At least I'm happy now.

"That's right."
-
Reach an agreement.

"Unanimous."

So much for Shandel Kratov.

Roland made a joke, but didn't want to continue asking, because Fernandez was clearly hiding something that was not a big secret, but it seemed that there were some things that he couldn't say.

His attitude towards Miss Kratov was not very good.

Even though the other party had previously said a lot of good things about the Tribunal and the Executioner.

The priest opened the book with a droopy face: "...Now I will tell you about ghosts...or spirits. You are not allowed to interrupt me with your 'little jokes', understand?"

"Ghosts or spirits... they are a kind of..."

Fernandez read the words in the book to Roland.

Spirits are a large category.

Although they are not as bizarre as the alien species, the powerful ones are equally dangerous.

They do not have to follow the laws of the waking world, and can even form a kind of "field" similar to that of a ritualist within a certain area.
