Chapter 77 Freedom
Chen Huaian walked to the beef noodle shop where Lao Niu was and said to him, "I have something to do that will take some time, and they are about to close. Please wait for me outside the west city gate, and I will come to find you when I am done."

"Moo." (Okay.)
Chen Huaian left after he finished speaking. He was going to look for Ding Yu’s wife. Ding Yu was still borrowing money, so he would not go back for the time being.

Ding Yu's family could find out by simply asking around, but Chen Huaian's source of information made him completely murderous.

"Are you also going there to take care of the business?" This was the third passerby Chen Huaian asked, "You can call me Aunt Zhang. I'm the middleman. If you want to go, I'll take you there."

"Lead the way." Chen Huaian's voice was very light, but after he finished speaking, the temperature around him suddenly dropped a few degrees. He had already guessed what was going on.

After walking for a while, Aunt Zhang pointed to the wooden house in front and said, "It's in front, then..."

Chen Huaian understood, and took out a little tip and gave it to Aunt Zhang. Aunt Zhang took the money and left with a smile.

Chen Huaian knocked on the door and a woman opened it. The woman was a little shy and had a very pretty face. Chen Huaian didn't understand why Ding Yu didn't know how to cherish him.

"Yes, was it Aunt Zhang who introduced you?"

Her clear and pleasant voice is like a silver bell.

Chen Huaian did not reply, but asked: "How old are you?"

"Ten, sixteen," she replied timidly.

"My name is Xixiang." She said her name, half-opened her clothes, and walked to Chen Huaian. Chen Huaian stretched out his hand to interrupt her. She was stunned and didn't know what Chen Huaian's action meant.

Chen Huaian grabbed Xixiang's hand. Her bruised arm looked very pitiful.

"Don't worry, sir," It's just a little bruise on the hand, it's not that kind of disease." Xi Xiang said hurriedly, fearing that Chen Huaian would mistake it for that kind of disease and leave.

"I'm very clean, I change the sheets every day, I..." Xi Xiang wanted to say more, but was stopped by Chen Huaian, "There are large bruises and old wounds, but they are only covered with soot. If you delay it for a few more days, I'm afraid it won't be as simple as just a red spot."

"It's okay, I'm used to it. All customers are like this. There aren't many kind-hearted people like you."

Chen Huaian shook his head slightly. He took out a small medicine bottle from his arms, poured out the medicine, and applied it evenly on Xixiang's arm. Then he took out another bottle.

"Once a day, within seven days, you will be cured."

"I can't accept this." Xixiang wanted to refuse, but Chen Huaian put the medicine on the table, leaving her no room to refuse.

"Are you the only one at home?" Chen Huaian asked. He asked this on purpose to test Xixiang and see if she knew what her husband was doing.

"Well, my husband has to find things to do every day and comes back very late." Xixiang replied.

"I've never caught you doing this kind of thing?" Chen Huaian asked again. Xixiang did not give a direct answer, but said: "If the guests are worried, we can go to another place." Xixiang said while lightly lifting her hair and looking at Chen Huaian, as if waiting for his answer.

"Why don't you accompany me to the casino and play a few rounds?" Chen Huaian did not reply to her, but asked her to accompany him to the casino. After Chen Huaian said this, Xixiang's face showed visible panic.

"My name is Chen Huaian. I was entrusted by someone to come here to deliver a message. Unexpectedly, I met your husband in the casino, and he was the one who was being delivered the message."

After hearing what Chen Huaian said, Xixiang's pupils suddenly contracted, as if she couldn't believe what Chen Huaian said.

Chen Huaian did not reply. Xixiang slumped on the bed, and Chen Huaian turned and left because Ding Yu was coming back.

Not long after Chen Huaian left, Ding Yu came back. He looked at his wife without any guilt on his face.

"Have you eaten yet?" Xi Xiang looked at Ding Yu who came in and asked with a smile, as if she didn't take Chen Huaian's previous words to heart. "Not yet." Ding Yu replied.

"Then I'll go cook for you."

Xixiang said this and left. She went to cook for Ding Yu. Not long after, Xixiang's meal was ready, but there was not much meat.

Ding Yu drank a few sips of wine, his eyes slightly red, and looked at Xi Xiang and said, "Wife, what should I do? They said they would cut off my hands and feet if I couldn't pay the money. I really have no other choice. I might as well die."

Xixiang didn't say anything, she silently picked up some food for Ding Yu.

Ding Yu looked at Xi Xiang, her eyes full of sincerity, "I will never gamble again, I swear!"

He put his hand on Xixiang's shoulder and said, "When I pay back the money, we can live like before."

Chen Huaian sat on the roof of his house and found this somewhat funny. Can you believe a gambler's words? Obviously not.

Xixiang still didn't speak. She gently rolled up her sleeves and picked up some food for Ding Yu. She wanted to know if Ding Yu still cared about her, but Ding Yu just ate his food in big mouthfuls and didn't notice the injury on Xixiang's hand at all.

Perhaps at this moment, her heart was filled with despair and pain. Perhaps she knew that Ding Yu was lying to her, or perhaps she didn't know...

Chen Huaian sat quietly on the roof of her house, the flute spinning between his fingers, "Lovers are always betrayed."

Ding Yu fell asleep shortly after finishing his meal, but Xixiang did not sleep. She took out a wooden box containing some jewelry, which was her dowry. She took out a bracelet, which was a gift from her mother. She put it on her wrist, but then put it back.

The complicated expression on her face made it hard to tell what she was thinking.

She put the jewelry in order, then lay down next to Ding Yu, calling softly, "Ding Lang..."

Ding Yu did not respond at all, he had already fallen into a deep sleep.

Early the next morning, Ding Yu woke up and got up to get up. Xixiang also woke up feeling the vibration. She didn't say anything, but got up silently and handed the wooden box to Ding Yu.

When Ding Yu saw the wooden box, his eyes lit up, "Xi Xiang, I knew you would give it to me! Wait for me to come back, and I will definitely give you the best life!"

As he said this, he snatched the wooden box from Xixiang's hand and walked out of the room without looking back. The purpose of his return yesterday was to get Xixiang's dowry because he failed to borrow money.

Xixiang was chasing after him. When she walked out of the house, she only saw Ding Yu's back.

Upon seeing this, Chen Huaian made some hand gestures and a white light attached to Ding Yu, then appeared in front of Xi Xiang.

Chen Huaian looked in the direction where Xixiang was. He couldn't see her, but he judged that Xixiang was in that direction by the sound. Xixiang looked at Ding Yu who was going away, with an expectant look as if she was looking forward to her husband's return.

"Your husband sold you to the casino." Chen Huaian said. When Xi Xiang heard what Chen Huaian said, she immediately retorted: "Impossible, he wouldn't do this to me!"

Chen Huaian remained silent. He took out the indenture contract. Xi Xiang staggered over and looked at the indenture contract in Chen Huaian's hand. Tears welled up in her eyes, as if they would burst out at any time.

She chased out crying. She wanted to question Ding Yu, but fell to the ground before she took a few steps. She looked forward crying. Chen Huaian walked up to her, flames flickered on his fingertips, and in the blink of an eye, the indenture contract was burned to ashes.

"From now on, you are free."
