Chapter 30: Underground World

Chapter 30 30. Underground World
"What should we do with these survivors?" Li Jian glanced at the dark subway station. Most of the survivors had dull eyes or were crying with their heads down, and they had not yet recovered from the disaster.

Su Hong walked down the stairs. "As long as they don't deal with the spider's nest, they can't go anywhere."

"Maybe the two of us will die earlier than them."

Li Jian's shoulders relaxed. "Yes, if they solve the spider's nest, they may still have a chance to escape Sheng City."

"If even we die, their life or death is not something we can care about."

Su Hong went down to the platform, surveyed the messy ground, and then glanced at him, "Since when did the immortals who advocate new humanism care so much about the life and death of old humans?"

These words touched Li Jian's heart. He fell silent, paused for a moment, and then walked towards the subway tunnel towards the city center.

The two walked forward in silence in the darkness. Li Jian spoke after a long while. "My father is an immortal, and my grandfather is also an immortal. The immortal bloodline of the Protz family has been passed down for a long time. Except for those who encountered accidents, most of the family's ancestors are alive in immortal and decaying bodies."

"Just like those disaster monsters, their bodies are corrupted and their minds are confused, but they are clear-headed occasionally."

"I was born into this monster family, and everything I saw and heard was rotten and corrupt."

"But my mother wasn't like that. She was just a regular old human being. She was so alive and lovable."

"Just like fireworks that are fleeting, they can bloom into the most gorgeous and beautiful flowers in a brief moment."

Li Jian sighed, "The living are amazing. Sometimes I envy them."

Su Hong pondered, "Do you know the name Renault Protz?"

Renault Protz, the eldest son of the Protz family, was also the cursed corpse that he defeated.

Li Jian shook his head, "I'm sorry, I haven't heard of this name."

The two walked past the entrance to the dungeon that led to the garden community. Li Jian originally wanted to go in and take a look, but Su Hong said, "There are only some skeletons and rotting corpses inside. The exit leads to a community. There's no need to waste your energy."

Li Jian looked at Su Hong with strange eyes, "How did you know?"

"As far as I know, although the successor's bloodline historical measurement comparison method can estimate the approximate time interval for the end of the world, it is generally impossible to predict the distribution of disasters."

Su Hong replied casually, "My accomplice is on the other side."

After saying that, he didn't care whether Li Jian believed it or not and continued to walk deeper into the tunnel.

It is now the second day of the apocalypse. When the third day comes, there will be another wave of spiders.

Time is running out and there is no time to investigate the situation in the garden community.

The two continued to move deeper into the tunnel for several hours. The gaps in the tunnel were filled with dense tree roots. Some roots drooped down, dripping blood-red liquid, which gathered into puddles of blood on the tunnel floor.

I don't know if it's the sap from the tree or the blood of the victim...

Li Jian observed the pool of blood on the ground and said, "The spiders came with great force yesterday and took away most of the disaster monsters underground. We are still very safe for now..."

Before he could finish, Su Hong suddenly stopped and looked forward, "Li Jian, you seem to have the talent of a crow's mouth."

Li Jian followed his gaze into the deep darkness ahead. There were faint flickering points of light and a foul smell on the ground, as if it was the feces of some creature.

[Ghostly bats that inhabit damp dungeons]

[Disaster Level: Present World]

[Disaster Level: Level 5]

[Disaster Skill: Shadow Dagger (Excellent), twists the shadow of the bat wing, turns it into a sharp dagger, and pierces the prey. ]

“Squeak, squeak, squeak…”

Dark shadows gathered above the tunnel and made creepy noises.

"Run!" Su Hong shouted. The dead man's arms fell to the ground, supporting his body. He ran and rushed into the deep tunnel.

Squeak, squeak, squeak! The ghostly bats were startled and flapped their wings to flee. They were densely packed together, and the shadow daggers hit the armor and the arms of the dead, making a clanging sound.

A bloody light suddenly appeared behind Su Hong. Li Jian wielded the Blood Slash Sword, destroying the bats and chasing after him.

The man yelled, "Are you sure it's the right thing to go in there?"

"Let's talk after we get in!"

The dead apostles waved their arms wildly, and ghostly bats flew out and turned into meat paste stuck to the wall.

"You defeated the ghost, gained experience, and obtained disaster potential 5."

"..."

Game prompts kept appearing. After a few minutes, there seemed to be some faint light coming from the front. Su Hong was shocked. Before he could continue forward, his feet suddenly felt empty and his body lost balance and fell down.

"Boom!"

Su Hong fell heavily on the abandoned car, and Li Jian jumped down from it covered in blood.

The two looked up at the subway tunnel. A swarm of bats were hovering in the air in a mess, and the sound was echoing.

"Where is this?"

Su Hong raised his palm, which was stained with some sticky liquid, which seemed to be left by those spiders.

Looking around, they seemed to have fallen into a deep canyon. The sky was dark and deep, and the ground was littered with ruins of human civilization. There were things emitting faint light in the corners.

Li Jian pondered, "It seems that the ground collapsed, forming an underground hollow world."

"It's very open here, and you can't see the end. Maybe the spider's nest is nearby. Be careful."

Su Hong stood up from the scrapped car and his eyes fell on a mysterious glowing object not far away. When he got closer, he saw that it was an irregular green ore that emitted a chilling light.

He picked up the ore and the game displayed a prompt.

“Dung Stone Ore (Normal + Material): It is formed by the deposition of feces from fluorescent spiders. It can be used to make fluorescent lamps or fluorescent equipment.”

Su Hong had a strange look on his face, as if he had picked up a pile of feces.

"I found that the damaged elite knight armor and the coarse fecal stone ore have a 100% compatibility. Should we fuse them together to strengthen them?"

"Fusion, of course." Su Hong said without hesitation.

Even if it turns into a dung knight armor after fusion, it is still a shiny dung knight armor.

"Fusion enhancement failed. Forging or alchemy related skills are required."

When he saw the prompt, his heart, which had just begun to boil, instantly cooled down.

Then again, he doesn't have any skills now, so where can he find forging skills? Can't he learn it himself?

After collecting the dung stones, the two men walked cautiously into the bright depths of the canyon.

The deeper you go into the canyon, the more fecal stones there are and the brighter the surroundings become.

A subtle sound came into his ears along with the wind, and Su Hong seemed to see a shadow twisting under the light of the fluorescent fecal stone.

"Are there monsters fighting?"

Su Hong and Li Jian looked at each other, then they crawled over and slowly approached.

"You minions of the Protz family, don't even think about blocking my way forward!"

An angry roar came from the bottom of the cliff. Su Hong leaned his head out and saw that the bright pit was surrounded by spider silk. The knight was wielding a spear and fighting against a huge fluorescent spider.
