His skin was dark blue, his face was filled with gloom, he was barefoot, his body was muscular, his hair was shaggy, and he looked very scary.

The river monster roared like thunder. As he ran, he was able to walk on the waves and rushed straight towards Lin Nan.

Lin Nan watched coldly, without any fear in his heart. He had a "Five-Point Demon-Subduing Fan" brought from modern times hanging around his waist, and at this moment he waved the fan violently.

Instantly, a powerful force surged out, and the monster flew backwards like a leaf caught in a strong wind. He lost control of his body and landed directly on the bank of the Liusha River. When this Five-Light Demon-Subduing Fan was in the hands of Master Sa Tian, it frightened all the demons and monsters in the world, and none of them could resist the power of the fan. It could even bring people back to life, which shows how powerful it is.

Now, as a ninth-level upper-grade celestial being, Lin Nan was even more adept at using the demon-subduing fan, and its power was doubled. The ugly demon was blown back and fell heavily on the shore, creating a shallow pit. In his hand, he held a magical "demon-subduing staff", which now drooped limply to the side and was of no use at all.

Although the ugly monster was knocked away, it did not suffer fatal injuries. He looked up at Lin Nan and roared, "Where did you come from, Taoist priest? How dare you be my enemy in the Quicksand River?"

Lin Nan snorted coldly and said, "I am the Grand Master of Chechi State. Who on earth are you? How dare you attack me here?"

The monster was stunned when he heard this, obviously he had never heard of the title of the Grand Master of Chechi Kingdom.

He could not help but explain, "I am not a demon. I am the general who serves as the imperial attendant of His Majesty Lingxiao! I was demoted to the mortal world by the Jade Emperor because I accidentally broke a glass cup at the Peach Banquet. That is why I am now like this. The Jade Emperor also ordered his men to pierce my chest and ribs with flying swords more than a hundred times every seven days. That is why I am so distressed. I was really hungry and cold, so I went out of the waves to find a passerby to eat. I did not expect to offend the Grand Master today. I hope you will forgive me."

Lin Nan's heart was moved when he heard this. He had already recognized the identity of this Curtain Roller General. He looked down at the pile of bones in the river and said in a deep voice: "Are all these bones in the river the tourists you devoured?"

At the bottom of the Liusha River, there are countless bones and heads rolling around, and skulls are everywhere you look.

Every skull represents a lost life. This quicksand river has swallowed up countless innocent lives.

Lin Nan stared at the piles of bones with a cold look in his eyes. He turned around and asked the general beside him.

Seeing Lin Nan's frosty face, the general secretly thought in his heart that he was at a disadvantage at the moment, and hurriedly said, "It's really helpless. I am in this quicksand river, suffering from hunger and cold. Every three or two days, I can find a passerby in the waves to quench my hunger and thirst. It's really not my intention."

However, Lin Nan was not shaken by his explanation, and his tone remained cold: "With your ability, even if you were in this quicksand river and fed on yellow sand, you would not end up starving to death. But you are greedy for the taste of flesh and blood, and you have eaten tourists alive. Over the years, you have committed so many evil deeds."

Lin Nan's eyes were like torches, staring directly at General Juanlian, "If that's the case, you deserve to die today."

When the general heard this, he was shocked and panicked. He never expected that even after he revealed his identity, the Taoist priest in front of him would still be so persistent. He hurriedly explained: "Master, you don't know that I am not just doing evil in this quicksand river. I also have an important responsibility. As long as the pilgrim comes back after ten lifetimes, I will escort him to the West to obtain the scriptures and atone for my sins."

Lin Nan turned a deaf ear to his words and asked, "Atoning for sins? Where is the merit? How can the sins you committed be easily erased?" He paused and continued, "You have piled up bones at the bottom of this quicksand river. Can your so-called atonement bring those dead back to life?"

"Since that is impossible, then who can atone for your sins? Who can forgive you on behalf of those people you devoured?" Lin Nan's words were like a sharp sword, piercing the heart of General Juanlian.

The general was getting more and more anxious, but Lin Nan had already made up his mind: "For an ugly person like you, who has committed heinous crimes, how can Buddhism easily redeem your sins? How can you turn back and forgive all your sins?"

"If you want to atone for your sins, you can only die!" Lin Nan's voice was cold and firm, "Today, I will send you off!"

After saying this, the "Three-Five Swords to Slay Evil Females and Males" on his waist made faint sounds, the sword light flickered, and a chilling aura was overwhelming.

"Grand Master, please spare his life!" Suddenly, a voice came from the edge of the garden, and in a flash, the figure was already in front of us.

Looking up, I saw a figure standing on a lotus platform, with a dignified demeanor, holding a flower in one hand and a jade bottle in the other. Next to him, there was another figure holding a mixed iron rod and carrying a package on his back.

"Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva of the South China Sea." Lin Nan recognized the identity of the visitor at a glance. It was none other than Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva of the South China Sea.

Next to him is Mu Zha, one of the sons of Li Jing, the Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King, and the elder brother of Nezha, the Great God of the Three Altars and Sea Assembly.

"Grand Master, please show mercy. This monster is no longer a trivial matter and cannot be killed at will." As soon as Guanyin Bodhisattva arrived, she stopped Lin Nan.

However, Lin Nan was unmoved and asked, "What's the big deal? He was just a general in front of the Jade Emperor. Why can't he be killed?" He said firmly, "At most, after I kill him, I will go to the Heavenly Palace to report to the Jade Emperor in person!"

The general on the ground was shocked when he heard this, and felt Lin Nan's strong killing intention. At the same time, he was also full of doubts about Lin Nan's identity.

"What is the origin of this Taoist priest? How dare he speak to Guanyin Bodhisattva in such a tone, and even look down on the Jade Emperor." The general of the Curtain secretly muttered in his heart, "Why did I never hear of his name when I was in the Heavenly Palace? Is there such a person in this world, and I have been ignorant of him for hundreds of years?"

At this time, Guanyin Bodhisattva shook his head slightly and said slowly: "This Curtain Roller still shoulders an important responsibility. Although he devoured the nine lives of the pilgrim, he has now turned over a new leaf and will shoulder the responsibility of escorting the tenth pilgrim to the West to obtain the scriptures."

"Therefore, Great Master, you cannot kill him." Guanyin Bodhisattva's tone was firm and calm.

However, Lin Nan disagreed with her view. He sneered and said, "The Bodhisattva only saw him devouring the nine generations of pilgrims, but didn't see the countless bones at the bottom of the river? Compared to the pilgrims, aren't those innocent people who were killed more pitiful?"

Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled and explained, "Great Master, you don't know that this Liusha River is in a special location. It is connected to the sand dunes in the east, the various tribes in the west, Wugo in the south, and Tatar in the north. Ordinary people will never pass through this place."

"Those who can usually reach the Liusha River are fugitives and evildoers," Guanyin Bodhisattva continued, "so even though the Curtain Roller has devoured countless people, there aren't many innocent lives except for those who are seeking scriptures."

Hearing this, General Juanlian remained silent. However, Lin Nan sneered and said sarcastically, "The Bodhisattva is eloquent and can come up with such a reason." After that, he calmed down and continued to ask, "What if there are innocent people among these people? The Bodhisattva said that there are no innocent people. Did he see it with his own eyes? Or is he just talking nonsense?"

Lin Nan looked directly at Guanyin Bodhisattva, his tone full of doubt: "You Buddhists often say that monks don't tell lies, but I think the Bodhisattva is full of nonsense."

Guanyin Bodhisattva shook his head and sighed, "Why do you say that, Grand Master? You have only just arrived at the Flowing Sand River for the first time. How do you know that there are many innocent people among these corpses?"

Guanyin Bodhisattva did not directly respond to Lin Nan's question, but seized the loophole in his words. After all, there is no evidence of death, and those who are dead can no longer speak.

"I don't know, but they can answer it themselves." Lin Nan lowered his head and looked at the piles of bones at the bottom of the quicksand river again.

"Hmm?" Guanyin Bodhisattva, Mu Zha and General Juanlian all looked surprised. They could tell that there seemed to be something else behind Lin Nan's words.

Sure enough, the next moment, Lin Nan took out the "Five-Light Demon-Subduing Fan". This fan is also known as the Five-Light Demon-Subduing Fan. When it was in the hands of Master Sa, it was most praised not for its power to subdue demons and ghosts, but for its magical power to resurrect the dead.

Lin Nan held the Five-Pointed Demon-Subduing Fan and gently waved it at the bones at the bottom of the Quicksand River. He muttered something while exerting the power of the fan in his hand.

As the fan flapped and Lin Nan chanted a spell with an inexplicable meaning, a chilling and biting wind suddenly blew over the Quicksand River. This wind was unbearable for ordinary people, and it was a chilling wind.

In the gloomy wind, hazy figures gradually emerged, accompanied by bursts of sobbing. The Five-Bright Demon-Subduing Fan moved, and the gloomy wind blew, revealing countless figures. These figures were not living people, but ghosts, the souls of the dead.

They wailed and cried, but Lin Nan waved the Five-Light Demon-Subduing Fan in his hand again. Suddenly, the bodies of these ghosts became more solid and they stopped crying.

"Tell us your origins and how you died." Lin Nan asked. Under his pressure, the ghosts all surrendered.

The general who was standing by was already dumbfounded, and even Mu Zha and Guanyin Bodhisattva were equally shocked. They could clearly see that Lin Nan's move was to directly use the piles of bones at the bottom of the quicksand river to summon their souls.

Of course, this is not all, because many ghosts have already been reincarnated or disappeared. Now Lin Nan summoned the souls of those who have not yet entered reincarnation.

Moreover, these souls that may have been confused and unconscious were completed and regained consciousness after Lin Nan's subsequent fan, and were able to know what happened in their previous lives.

“Immortal is above!” As Lin Nan finished speaking, a ghost immediately knelt down and bowed to him, crying, “I was originally a tourist. I was passing by the Quicksand River, but was swallowed by a monster there. After that, I lost consciousness and wandered between heaven and earth. Now I have met an immortal, please help me!”

The other ghosts also told their origins and experiences one after another. In front of Lin Nan, none of them dared to lie.

After all this, it turned out that things were not at all as Guanyin Bodhisattva had said. The dead were not all fugitive criminals. On the contrary, there were many innocent poor people among them.

The ghosts accused the Curtain General of his crimes one by one, and it took a while for them to finish. After they finished, the ghosts lined up neatly, with shadowy figures.

Lin Nan waved the Five-Light Demon-Subduing Fan again and chanted the reincarnation mantra to send them into reincarnation. Then, he turned and looked at Guanyin Bodhisattva.

"Buddha, it seems that what you said before was a lie." Lin Nan said calmly, "The corpses in the Liusha River are not all sinners. On the contrary, there are many innocent and pitiful people who died here."

He paused and continued, "If the Bodhisattva still has doubts, we can go to the underworld and check whether what these ghosts said in the Book of Life and Death is true."

Upon hearing this, Guanyin Bodhisattva chanted the Buddha's name and then said: "I am blinded by my knowledge and vision. I never thought that there are so many innocent people." There was a hint of guilt and helplessness in her tone.

Guanyin Bodhisattva did not mention the previous words at this moment, but just brushed it off lightly, as if it had never happened. He continued: "Now that things have come to this, we need this Curtain General to redeem himself and escort the pilgrim to the West to obtain the true scriptures. When he returns in the future, he will recite scriptures for the dead souls day and night by the Flowing Sand River to atone for their sins."

"How can it be so easy?" Lin Nan sneered, his tone full of disdain, "Since you have committed a crime, how can you wait until later to repent? You Buddhists believe in putting down the butcher knife and becoming a Buddha right away, but I believe that revenge is the right way to go, and slaying demons and eliminating evil."

He paused, his eyes firm, and continued: "You Buddhists can forgive sins, that's your business. But I, Lin Nan, will kill any evil spirits I see. Only in this way can I have a clear mind and clear thoughts!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the Sanwu Zhanxie Male and Female Swords hanging on Zhang Wen's waist made a low humming sound, as if it sensed the murderous intent in Lin Nan's heart and resonated with it.

This sword is famous for its ability to slay demons and eliminate evil, and has killed countless souls.

Lin Nan gently pressed the hilt of the sword, turned his gaze towards Guanyin Bodhisattva, and said with an unquestionable firmness: "Does the Bodhisattva want to stop me from killing this merciless general?"

Mu Zha, the disciple beside Guanyin Bodhisattva, was shocked. Hearing Lin Nan's words, it seemed that if Guanyin tried to stop him again, he would kill her as well.

This was difficult for Mu Zha to understand. For the sake of a few dead mortals, Lin Nan dared to contradict his master like this. He did not even give him the famous Guanyin Bodhisattva in Buddhism.

However, Guanyin Bodhisattva did not say anything, but just waved his hand lightly, and the curtain flew to his side in an instant.

Guanyin said slowly: "The matter of Juanlian escorting the pilgrims on their journey to the West has been decided and will not be changed. Grand Master, I hope you will not stop us."

After saying this, the lotus platform under the feet of Guanyin Bodhisattva moved slightly, as if she was about to leave. Mu Zha was shocked. Guanyin's action was as if she was about to... (End of this chapter)
