A Realistic Mount & Blade Game

#14 - The successful team

“Kill!” The slaughter was taking place in the stairwell of the apartment building.

Ten Swadian light infantrymen stood at the front, thrusting their spears forward even in the narrow stairwell.

Using the light from the torches, they pressed forward with their spears, advancing towards the ground floor!

No undead monsters could withstand the assault of these Swadian light infantrymen.

In the confined space, the two-meter-long standard Swadian spears were wielded with deadly efficiency.

These Swadian light infantrymen advanced in ranks of four, supported by five Swadian militiamen in ranks of three, all armed with spears.

Step by step, steadily and surely, they used their long spears and pikes to impale any undead monsters that dared to stand in their way!

Even Swadian knights, fully clad in heavy chainmail or plate armor, would hesitate to charge a well-formed spear formation.

Even if they could break through, they would suffer casualties.

Not to mention these zombies and skeletons, with little intelligence or combat ability, only capable of bullying ordinary people from Blue Star?

Almost instantly,

the sharp points of the spears and pikes pierced the vital spots of these zombies and skeletons.

Sending these undead monsters, who should have long rotted in their graves, back to the realm of the dead!

In about 20 minutes, they had reached the stairwell on the ground floor.

And saw the main lobby of the apartment building!

‘Whoosh!’

Shen Mu raised another torch.

The flames flickered.

In the entrance hall of the apartment, nearly 20 skeletons and zombies were turning around, swaying unsteadily.

An eerie blue light, originating from the fire of their souls, flickered in their eyes, carrying a fear that could be faintly detected even in the darkness, a chilling energy that froze the soul.

And a chill that even Shen Mu, wearing a cotton robe underneath his armor, could feel.

A chill that originated from the depths of his soul!

“Kill!” But Shen Mu didn't care at all, pointing his Germanic sword forward.

Ten Swadian light infantrymen and five Swadian militiamen raised their polearms again, spears and pikes leveled forward, marching forward in unison, shoulder to shoulder!

‘Crack, crack.’

The skeletons raised their femur bones or decayed weapons, slowly gathering to attack.

Including the limping, slower-moving, inherently stiff zombies, reaching out with both hands in an attempt to strangle anyone who came close.

Then, they were instantly crushed by the Swadian soldiers.

Their bones scattered and corpses shattered, leaving a mess on the ground!

After leaving the stairwell,

in the entrance hall of the apartment building, these undead monsters couldn't even slow down Shen Mu's advance!

Or rather,

the reason it took 20 minutes to come down from the seventh floor was entirely because the narrow and steep stairs required the Swadian soldiers to descend slowly!

“The immigrants and new soldiers are outside!”

At this moment, Shen Mu used his Germanic sword to chop an approaching skeleton into pieces, and looked at the dark outside of the apartment building, faintly hearing the sounds of fighting coming from the gray fog.

He knew, of course, that it was the immigrants and soldiers fighting the undead monsters!

The battle seemed to have entered a fever pitch!

“Switch weapons!”

Shen Mu ordered: “Use Germanic swords and shields, stay close to me!”

Then, Shen Mu held a torch in his left hand and gripped his Germanic sword tightly in his right, leading his subordinates, who unhesitatingly discarded their spears and pikes, and followed him out of the apartment building, left hand holding a shield, right hand wielding a Germanic sword and a pickaxe.

Outside the apartment building was an open green square.

Originally, there were fountains and greenery.

But now, the fountains had long turned into pools of sewage, and the greenery was overgrown and distorted due to years of neglect.

More undead skeletons and zombies wandered slowly among them.

Sensing Shen Mu's arrival, they seemed to detect the presence of living beings, and the eerie blue flames in their eye sockets blazed even brighter.

Then, swaying and limping, they began to surge towards Shen Mu and his group.

There were many of them.

Shen Mu raised the torch, dispelling the dense gray fog, and faintly saw countless eerie blue soul fires flickering in the fog just ten meters away.

At first glance, there were probably hundreds of undead monsters around!

“No wonder the wilderness in the dark is an absolute taboo.”

Shen Mu thought of the memories of his predecessor.

But his face showed no fear.

He raised his Germanic sword and chopped off half the head of an approaching skeleton.

These decaying skeletons couldn't withstand the sharp and sturdy Germanic sword.

Including the Swadian light infantrymen with similar equipment beside him, who had been on the battlefield for a long time in Calradia, facing these slow, swaying enemies was no different from hitting targets in the training ground!

Therefore, following Shen Mu, the skeletons and zombies that blocked the way were almost instantly killed on the spot.

They couldn't stop their advance at all!

“The gate of the residential area is less than a hundred meters to the left.”

Shen Mu was familiar with this residential area.

Four apartment buildings stood in four directions.

The main gate marked by the Mount \u0026 Blade system was to the left of his building, about 80 meters away.

At this time, the gray fog was thick, making it difficult to see clearly.

But relying on his previous impressions of this residential area, plus the direction already marked by the Mount \u0026 Blade system in Shen Mu's eyes,

he knew very well the location of the immigrants and soldiers!

“Kill! Kill! Stop them!”

“Long live the Lake Rat Gang!”

Shen Mu walked sixty or seventy meters, and faint lights and hoarse shouts appeared in front of him.

When he led the team closer again,

he found more than 20 Swadians wearing tattered cloth robes and holding pitchforks or wooden sticks, gathered together to resist the siege of hordes of skeletons and zombies outside the iron gate of the residential area.

On the outer perimeter, 10 burly young men wearing waist-cinching leather jackets, holding kite shields in their left hands, small-bladed axes in their right hands, and eight short fish darts on their backs, were fighting fiercely with their nimble small-bladed axes.

Many skeletons and zombies lay dead at their feet, and every time they swung their small-bladed axes, an undead was smashed to pieces.

Their combat power was quite formidable!

“They're over there!”

Shen Mu immediately led the team to join them.

“Is that Lord Shen Mu!?”

“It's Lord Shen Mu!”

Then, the faces of these new immigrants and new soldiers instantly changed from solemn to excited and joyful.

“It's me!”

Shen Mu responded, while waving his hand to let the light infantrymen and militiamen behind him rush over to protect the farmers from the Swadian kingdom behind them first.

Shen Mu walked over quickly.

Looking at the temporary bonfire that had been lit on the road with tattered clothes among these new immigrants, both men and women, he nodded slightly.

These immigrants had stumbled upon a good idea.

With a bonfire, they could dispel the dense gray fog and effectively weaken the combat power of the undead monsters.

This was also why this group of people had been able to hold out for so long.

“Stay close to me, it's time to leave.” Shen Mu also knew that gathering a large number of people in the dark was not a good thing.

This would cause a special reaction from the undead rules.

More and more ferocious undead monsters would descend into the surrounding darkness, making the situation more complicated and dangerous.

Now was not the time to linger in battle.

“Let's go!” The new immigrants and the new members of the Lake Rat Gang immediately followed Shen Mu.

Then, escorted by 15 Swadian soldiers, they began to return to the apartment building where Shen Mu had previously lived.

Just as Shen Mu, who was walking at the front, wielding his Germanic sword, had a slight change in expression.

“Wait!” Shen Mu raised his hand, signaling the team to stop moving forward.

“Something's up!” The Swadian light infantrymen also raised their fan-shaped shields, nervously looking ahead.

Because in the apartment building they had come from, fierce, low roars were appearing in front of them.

At the same time, figures about one meter seventy or eighty tall quietly appeared in the darkness at the end of the torch's light.

As the light of the torch flickered,

it could be vaguely seen that inside, terrifying undead creatures with gray-white skin, resembling humans but with huge claws on their hands, were standing there coldly.

Their eye sockets carried cold, emotionless soul fires, emitting low roars filled with extreme hatred for the living.

“Ghouls.” Shen Mu narrowed his eyes slightly.

Of course, he recognized these undead creatures, which possessed great strength and extremely strong combat power, but he didn't expect them to appear here.

“Is it true that the more people there are, the more attention they receive from the undead rules?” Shen Mu thought of the legend that had been circulating for a long time.

But Shen Mu's face showed no fear.

Instead, his mind directly communicated with the system.

Directly, he used the item he had just obtained earlier—
