Written at the end of volume three
The third volume is finally finished, and it's... very different from the third volume I conceived in the original outline.
The biggest difference is that the outline actually contains a lot of plots about campus and fraternity being stupid. Normally speaking, this volume should be an absurd campus comedy, with a lot of stories about shit and shit. But the big problem is that I wrote it. It doesn't seem funny, it's very vain, and it's in a state of vanity. It may be related to the fact that I haven't gone to college and can't really understand those behaviors.
So in order to avoid a sharp drop in subscriptions, it eventually became what it is now, increasing business confrontation, reducing campus plots, and even reducing all plots that may cause unnecessary trouble. Many readers may have noticed that more often than not, dialogue lines are used to describe, Rather than detailing the behavior.
The style of this volume is probably influenced by Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese. These two are also my favorite film directors. Of course, Quentin has become more famous since he made "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". I don’t like it that much anymore. I liked the previous films “Django” and “The Hateful Eight” very much.
Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" has more influence on this volume, because I basically watched this movie about ten times after starting this volume, not all to watch Margot Robbie. , many of Tommy's behaviors come from this movie.
Regarding the fourth volume, the editor’s suggestion when opening the book was to be on the safe side and try to control the direction of the story in business. The entertainment industry is a relatively safe direction, and the chance of being 404 is very low.
So in the fourth volume, I try to describe the entertainment aspect. I have never written about entertainment. I checked the information about Hollywood before, and there seems to be nothing worthy of my awe. A male star works as a pimp, and a female star works part-time as a call girl in Vanity Fair. That’s all.
No matter how much Oscar or other lofty artistic words are used to describe Hollywood, it cannot conceal its dirty nature.
The protagonist will not become an actor or director himself or go to Hollywood to make movies, so my entertainment story will most likely be in the entertainment industry and continue to be a capitalist who convinces people with virtue.
And it didn’t start in movies, but in television. Of course, there will be some plots in the film industry, but they won’t be filming or receiving awards. The protagonist is more willing to focus on business wars and saving female stars.
As we all know, Tommy is not greedy for vanity. He joined this industry because he really loves film and television art. Since he loves art, his opponents must be capitalists who make profits by exploiting movie stars.
In fact, normally speaking, we shouldn’t delay ending this volume until now. Once the ruling results are out, we can open a new volume. The main reason why I postponed it until now, or even fast-forwarded to graduation directly, is because... what was in my original outline The next volume was not originally intended to be about entertainment. The editor suggested that I write about entertainment. After all, the first book could not be 404 anyway. I deeply believed in the suggestion given by the screenwriter.
So I need to adjust the direction of the story. For example, let Tony and Dennis live the life that I imagined before for the protagonist. The protagonist should focus on being a capitalist, taking root in California, and helping California realize the four modernizations as soon as possible.
