American Comics: BOSS Invasion

#417 - Meru's Weakness

“My name is Meruzaga Galudo!”

The monster roared, appearing behind Richard in a flash, its arm transforming into a sharp axe, hacking down like a storm.

Its arm blurred as it swung, making it impossible to track.

However, Richard lived up to his reputation as a Centurion of the Nova Corps. His years of combat experience were not for show. He activated his energy shield immediately. Even with the incessant clanging of blades and flying sparks, he remained unharmed.

At the same time, three or four figures flew in from all directions, joining the battle before they even landed.

Energy attacks flew wildly, explosions deafened, and some of them even had time to greet each other.

“Admor克斯!”

“Anwen Bakan!”

“Black Hole!”

“Richard!”

They exchanged greetings but didn't say much else.

The three men and one woman were all Centurion-level experts, authorized to mobilize vast amounts of energy. Their combined attacks overwhelmed the monster Meru, forcing it into a defensive position, relying on its super speed to evade.

However, the lasers in the Centurions' hands were not lifeless objects mounted on machines.

No matter how fast Meru was, they could instantly lock on and accurately pierce him with lasers.

Explosions echoed, flesh tore, regenerated, then tore again.

Meru's body was in a constant state of destruction.

Yet, the grin on his face grew more and more ferocious, as if he were the cat toying with a mouse.

Nova Corps members capable of flight continuously appeared, scanning the area with energy to find any remaining survivors.

Most of the members, led by the remaining Centurions, blasted open the warship's underbelly and entered the massive vessel.

The ground anti-air units dared not relax for a moment, their cannons firing incessantly.

Unfortunately, the sudden invasion earlier had destroyed the Dark Star, along with most of the attack ships.

Even with Xandar's advanced technology and automated assembly lines, it was impossible to replenish such a large number of attack fleets in a short time.

The remaining attack fleets could only engage in guerilla warfare to intercept cannon fire, using the ground's automated defense systems to bring down as many missiles as possible.

The Nova Prime had been moved to a safer location, receiving all information through the super mainframe.

The aides who had previously surrounded her had all been dispatched to join the counterattack as the main force of the Nova Corps.

The emergency recall of the large fleet would take another two hours to reach Xandar, so she had to lead the army to stall for time.

On the huge screen in front of her, scanning information constantly flickered.

The enormous and exaggerated warship, the incomprehensible form of its construction, the outdated gunpowder weapons, and the advanced energy shields.

Coupled with the powerful combat individuals, the Nova Prime racked her brains but couldn't figure out where this pirate group had come from.

“There are four Centurions on the ground, enough to deal with that monster! The problem is that huge warship. The ground troops can't pose a threat to it. Small attack ships are wiped out as soon as they get close, even with linked protective shields.

Damn it, how can gunpowder weapons have such power!”

The Prime slammed her hand on the console, her face ashen.

At this moment, Qishan concealed his life signature, hiding in an inconspicuous corner, quietly watching the battle.

He even had the leisure to light a cigar, puffing on it casually.

“Knew you guys had trump cards! This is the real Nova Corps, isn't it!”

Qishan smiled faintly.

After all, this was a superhero universe, and the setting dictated that the power of a group would never surpass that of a single hero.

The pinnacle of world power was the hero team.

The Nova Corps was clearly a formidable group no less powerful than the Avengers.

At the very least, they were much more reliable than the Guardians of the Galaxy. The Xandarian civilization was advanced, with its domain spanning the entire galaxy.

The Nova Corps was a powerful force guarding the entire galaxy, and dealing with cosmic pirate groups was their specialty.

Even if the normal plot development played out and Ronan the Accuser invaded Xandar, the Nova Corps would most likely be able to take him down even without the Guardians of the Galaxy.

At most, the other party would get the Cosmic Orb, resulting in a slightly larger loss.

At his feet, a half-damaged mechanical wristwatch vaguely projected a light screen, showing the ruined capital.

“Not long ago, an accident occurred during the Accuser's invasion battle.

A strange, huge flying object suddenly appeared over the capital. We are now connected to a live report.”

The screen showed a man wearing a hard hat, with strange features and yellow skin, his face grave: “This is the scene. As you can see, behind me is already a ruin. This place is about 50 kilometers from Xandar Square.

Unsurprisingly, the other party is another group of invaders. There are reports that this is a group of space pirates, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Citizens in other cities, please rest assured. The Nova Corps has rebuilt its defense line. Our troops have the ability and determination to prevent the battlefield from spreading.

But just in case, those compatriots who have not yet taken refuge, please take refuge as soon as possible to avoid being affected by the war and endangering your lives.”

Then the picture changed, presenting the shape of the huge spaceship from several angles.

“Here are the images taken by satellite cameras. As you can see, the Nova Corps is fighting a powerful creature. The battle between the two sides is very fierce, and it is currently impossible to judge which side has the advantage!”

Just then, Qishan raised an eyebrow, discovering that the four Centurions had found Meru's weakness.

Richard launched a large-area energy attack, directly blowing away 1/3 of Meru's body. Amidst the splashing flesh and blood, a small, blood-red bead was exceptionally conspicuous.

Richard's pupils shrank, but before he could even speak, the blood-red bead was covered by muscle, hidden in the minced meat.

It pulled the nearby flying fragments, rapidly growing into a new arm that connected to the main body.

Richard was shocked, then overjoyed: “Found the opponent's weakness! Everyone, quickly attack the red bead in his body, that should be his core!”

Meru gritted his teeth and said: “Did you find it so quickly? Looks like it's not time to play around! Notify the spaceship, focus fire and take them out.”

“Yes, let's do that!”

A small head stretched out, answering indifferently, and quickly transformed into bat wings, leaving the main body and rushing towards the spaceship.

“Don't even think about it!”

Black Hole roared, and an energy cannon blasted over, directly blowing up Meru's clone. A small red bead flew out.

“That's it!” The eyes of several people lit up at the same time, and four lasers shot out, the small bead shook slightly, and instantly turned into dust.

The Meru clone, which had just recovered its shape next to it, screamed miserably and turned into minced meat.

Richard was overjoyed: “It works! Everyone, continue!”

The spirits of several people were lifted, and they attacked even more frequently.
