American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#112 - Demon Jinchūriki [Part 2]

Luke's figurative analogy instantly made Nick understand the hidden dangers.

"So, it's not stable?" Nick looked at the metal bracer on his left wrist, making a judgment.

"No, it's very stable. What's unstable is that Demon God Beast," Luke corrected Nick's judgment. "If something goes wrong with it, like the amplification disappearing, don't assume it's the equipment. It's likely not damaged and has no problems. It's just that its energy source has stopped supplying it, and the other party has blacklisted you."

Nick looked at Luke, who was dead serious, and didn't know how to express the multitude of thoughts in his head. In his ears, this sentence could be automatically translated as: If there's a problem with the equipment, it's definitely not my equipment, but something else.

"There must be a time limit, right?" Nick said with a helpless expression, "It can't be that soon after I placed the order, all this equipment will be, uh, blacklisted. That's not how business is done, Little Luke. I admit this is a good thing, and I'm even tempted. But I want a usage period."

"See, that's the difference in perception between you and me," Luke also said helplessly. "All I can say is that they may be able to be used stably for a long time, but it is also possible that in a certain battle, due to some accident, it attracted the other party's attention, and they directly closed the terminal server connection providing services to you."

"I'm not considering individual cases," Nick waved his hand, interrupting Luke.

"If used frequently, most of the usage time is only about half a year," Luke gave an answer very cautiously. "Of course, this is the time given considering many factors. In fact, if it is not used very frequently and no accidents occur, you can use it for a year, or even longer. Maybe that Demon God Beast likes one of your agents and is not stingy with this little power."

At the end, Luke jokingly told a cold joke.

"The usage time is a bit short." Nick thought in his head. He felt that this year's originally wealthy funding seemed to be stretched again. But it doesn't matter, anyway, he's not paying for it. He just needs the things to be really useful. "What about the side effects? Are there any aftereffects? What price will agents pay for using it?"

"Price? Why would you think that? Did you not understand what we said before?" Luke looked at Nick in surprise again. "The price will naturally be borne by someone for you. Moreover, we are a black account, or to put it bluntly, freeloading, cracking, piracy. At most, they will ban your account, then call the police, or bring people to make trouble.

But can they get in? If they come, that's not a problem for us to deal with, but for the mages. As for sending his other followers to make trouble, are you afraid?"

Nick was speechless.

"But using this so-called power of the Demon God, wouldn't it really be affected or something? For example, become not like yourself?" Nick, who was very suspicious, still asked the question he was most concerned about. He didn't want his agents to all become followers of a certain Demon God one day, and then stand in a row and call him boss.

That's really not something to celebrate.

"This equipment, in addition to being an energy receiver, also undertakes filtering and conversion functions. This function can greatly weaken the spiritual erosion of the Demon God's power, and even reduce this impact to almost nothing. There are indeed hidden dangers. After all, as the first version of mass production, it is normal to have defects. Subsequent upgrades are possible. In addition, this technology was not originally prepared for you," Luke replied.

"One last question, if it's damaged, well, I mean, if it disconnects, what should I do? Throw it away and replace it with a new one?" Nick touched his metal bracer and asked his last question about the bracer.

Luke was stunned for a moment and gave Nick a strange look, "If this is your personal hobby, then of course you can throw it away and replace it with a new one. I suggest selling it to Hebron as scrap. I will give you a recycling price that satisfies both of us. Well, absolutely satisfied!"

Several question marks appeared in Nick's head again. He vaguely felt that Luke's words had another meaning. He tentatively asked Luke: "Could it be that it can be repaired after it is disconnected?"

"Look at what you said, if a key expires, can't you just reactivate one?" Luke spread his hands and sighed softly: "Hebron provides batch activation services, but it only requires a little money or resources. Isn't it very affordable? A little money and resources can use the power of a Demon God, and the combat power of your agents can be instantly improved by several levels. It's very cost-effective."

Nick couldn't help but glance at Luke, marveling at how he, as a middleman, and a freeloading and cracking middleman, could say such a thing? Although without his technology, S.H.I.E.L.D. would not be able to use this equipment, this kind of honesty gave the informed a sense of absurd dislocation.

"This information doesn't need to be said, just the two of us know," Nick coughed twice, colluding.

"Okay." Luke nodded casually, pointing to the metal bracer on Nick's wrist: "Also, a reminder, your metal bracer is a special version. In a sense, its usage time is very long and has overclocking characteristics. Do you know what overclocking is? It means you can break through the limitations, use more power, and don't have to worry too much about being blacklisted."

"Why?" Nick asked in confusion.

"Because you are using the genuine product," Luke said seriously. Nick sighed in his heart, fortunately, Luke didn't wait for him to ask this time. After a pause, as if he had guessed the question in Nick's heart, he took the initiative to explain: "Those ninjas are genuine users because they paid some kind of price.

You know, keys can be shared. This software can be used on the same computer by you and others. The Demon God Beast's binding monitoring method may directly bind to a person's soul consciousness. So, if we upload this person's consciousness to the database and save it, pretending that he is still alive, then are we equivalent to saving and owning a genuine key?

Then one step further, if we master the Hand's method of communicating with that Demon God Beast, then in a sense, do we have a method of mass-producing genuine keys? Do you understand what I mean?"

Looking at Luke's eyes shining at him, Nick couldn't help but curse inwardly.

Shit! So your VIP deluxe upgrade version is waiting for me here?

However, a ninja is equivalent to a genuine key, plus that so-called method. I have to say, Nick was tempted again. Anyway, the war with the Hand has already begun, hasn't it?
