American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#134 - Is it worse for me who is not rich?

"Peter Parker?"

Phil Coulson knocked on Parker's door. Seeing Peter Parker open the door, Phil gave the boy a friendly smile.

"Yes, that's me." Peter recognized the man. He had seen Phil Coulson during the previous operation to eliminate the Hand and knew he was with S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Who is it, Peter?" A clear voice rang out from inside the house. It was Peter's aunt.

"It's a friend, nothing serious. I'll be out for a bit, back soon." Peter turned his head and called out to Aunt May in the house, then quickly put on his shoes, pushed open the door, and darted out nimbly. He didn't know why Phil had come looking for him with these people, but he definitely didn't want Aunt May to meet them.

What if they revealed his identity? Just imagining Aunt May's reaction was terrifying!

"Don't be nervous, it's nothing major. We're here for a simple reason: to have you sign a document." Phil opened the file bag in his hand, took out a document, and handed it to Peter along with the bag.

"Not here, let's find somewhere else." Peter gestured for Phil to find another place, not to block his doorway.

"We can go inside the car." Phil pointed to a black business car not far away.

"Great, that's perfect." Peter tilted his head, took the file bag in his hand, and followed Phil and the others to the car, opened the door, and sat inside.

"'Real-name registration for Demon God Representatives and their behavioral regulations'? What's this?" Peter flipped through the document, skimmed through it, and looked blank. What did this document have to do with him? He wasn't so arrogant as to think that S.H.I.E.L.D. needed his opinion on this document.

"It's as it says, Demon God Representative registration procedures. Come on, let's sign and process it on the spot." Phil rummaged in his pocket, pulled out a pen, stuffed it into Peter's hand, and considerately flipped to the place in the document where his signature was needed.

"Wait, what is this? A certain amount of visa fee needs to be paid periodically? What are these symbols and units? I don't understand them? Does this currency symbol even exist? Also, what does this visa fee mean? I've never been abroad since I was born! Are you guys stripping me of my citizenship?" Peter looked at Phil in shock.

"No, no, we're not stripping you of your citizenship, but of your planetary citizenship. As long as you are a Demon God Representative, you can only accept this." Phil spread his hands helplessly.

"What do you mean? Who's a Demon God Representative? Me? You must be joking." Peter couldn't accept it.

"We're not joking. We came to you after confirming it again and again. Haven't you noticed your abnormalities?" Phil patiently communicated with Peter.

"My abnormalities? Are you saying you think my power comes from some demon god? That's absurd! My spider-sense and strength came from an accident, an accident, understand? A certain experimental gene spider from Osborn Industries ran out of the lab and bit me, and that's how I got this power.

This is a product of science, what does it have to do with any demon god?" Peter argued.

"Do you really think so? From what I know, many experimental accidents are often not the accidents you think they are." Phil replied meaningfully. Honestly, when he saw Peter Parker's name on the list he was responsible for, he was shocked.

Phil had even confirmed with the mage in charge of connecting with him again and again, confirming that there were no omissions or errors in the other party's information, and then he had to believe it.

"I still can't accept it." Peter slumped back in his seat.

"Cheer up, think about it, you're not the only unlucky guy being kicked out, right? At least the two of us are communicating and discussing these things calmly. Other teams might have to fight first." Phil comforted Peter with a smile.

"Okay, okay, who else is there?" Peter grabbed his hair, feeling a little frantic. Although he still firmly believed that he couldn't be a Demon God Representative, Phil's confident and firm appearance made him feel helpless.

"I can't say too much, it's classified. But I can say one you're familiar with." Phil hesitated for a moment, thought about it, and said.

"Someone I'm familiar with? Is there a Demon God Representative among the people I know?" Peter's eyes widened. He suddenly realized that what he thought was a small number of cases was now showing a trend of proliferation?

"Probably. That person has also beaten you up." Phil looked at Peter pitifully.

"Beaten me up? Heavens! Don't tell me, the one I'm familiar with is Gwen!" Peter felt terrible all over.

"Why would you think that?" Phil looked at Peter, who was looking gloomy, with a strange expression, and asked strangely.

"Isn't it Gwen?" Peter raised his head, looking surprised.

"Of course not, but it's related to her." Phil pointed out the name: "It's Miss Quiet, who is symbiotic with Miss Stacy. Isn't it amazing? We thought it was an alien creature, but in essence, it's actually a product of a certain dimension's demon god.

But given that this kind of symbiote needs a host to be active, Miss Stacy, who acts as the guardian, naturally has to bear some joint responsibility."

"Then Gwen, does she also have to pay this money on Quiet's behalf?" Peter pointed to the document with the currency that he couldn't understand.

"Of course, but given that both Miss Quiet and Miss Stacy are employees of Hephaestus, this money will be paid by Hephaestus for them before they leave Hephaestus." Phil replied very considerately.

"Wow. Then how do I pay this money? Which currency do I use?" Peter sighed enviously, pointed to the unknown currency symbol on the document, and asked for advice.

"This is a new type of settlement currency jointly launched by S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hephaestus specifically for paying for demon gods and the mystical world. It is not temporarily linked to any real currency."

"Then how can I earn it? Go to Hephaestus to work?"

"No, you just need to bring it with you." As Phil spoke, he took out a silver metal bracelet from the file bag next to him and handed it to Peter.

Peter took it and, at Phil's suggestion, put it on his right wrist. He quickly felt a slight discomfort and frowned, "What's this for? I feel a lot weaker, is it drawing my power?"

"Don't panic, this is the switch. You can choose to turn it off. But when you turn it on, it will draw your power. To be precise, it's drawing the power of the demon god behind you. The energy drawn will be converted into this new settlement currency at a certain ratio. This is the price they should pay.

Of course, if you need it, you can also draw it at any time and then sell the excess energy to S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hephaestus. I suggest S.H.I.E.L.D., because we offer a higher price! This is the benefit we give you."
