American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#151 - wormhole, request, request

Inside the mothership's laboratory.

The metal object brought back from the XX base was placed on the shelf, being thoroughly tested inside and out by various instruments.

"The results of the analysis are somewhat similar to your new technology. It can be used to control people's minds." Tony Stark raised his eyebrows slightly, looking at the various experimental data displayed on the screen, and turned to Luke next to him.

"Similar, but not the same thing. Just two different ways of using the same source of energy." Luke shook his head. Emotional energy was indeed somewhat similar to the mind power of Loki's scepter, but such coincidences were too common in the universe.

Just as Tony was about to say something, Nick Fury pushed the door open and walked in.

"How much longer, Dr. Banner?" Nick Fury asked urgently, looking at the busy Bruce Banner.

"I've improved the algorithm, but I'm still searching. I can't guarantee you a time, but at the latest, I'll have information within a day. If they are indeed stimulating the power of the Tesseract, as you said." Dr. Banner looked up from the screen and replied.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Nick Fury said seriously, "I have a feeling that Loki is going to do something that will give us a headache."

"What about those mages? Why don't you seek their help?" Thor's voice came from outside the door. Everyone turned their heads and saw Thor striding in with his hammer, followed by Captain America and Frank Castle. He looked at Nick Fury and suggested.

Tony Stark was also intrigued. He was very interested in those elusive mages, or rather, he was very interested in the knowledge they possessed. Maybe he could spare some time to study magic and create a magic armor or something?

"They are not participating in this battle. In their words, this is not an invasion by a dimensional demon, and the Ancient One is not at home right now, so they can't make a decision. They have never intervened in any wars or changes in human society, including extraterrestrial invasions." Nick Fury's face was not good when he recounted this.

"Sounds like a perfunctory refusal." Tony Stark mocked.

"What about Asgard? Hasn't the Allfather Odin given you any other orders or help? This is your Asgardian prince invading our world!" Nick Fury ignored the sarcastic Tony Stark and turned his attention to Thor. It seemed that the mages had decided to sit on the sidelines, and the only powerful reinforcements he could squeeze out were from Thor.

"I contacted Asgard as soon as I knew Loki's whereabouts, but Heimdall told me that my father is not in the palace right now. He went somewhere with the Ancient One. But if I need help, I can call some down, all brave and good warriors. But let me state first that this is an invitation after your permission." Thor explained. At least he knew to establish a claim first.

"Some?" Nick Fury's one eye immediately stared at Thor cautiously.

"If you think it's too few, it can also be an Asgardian army." Thor misunderstood Nick Fury's gaze, thinking he felt that there were too few helpers from Asgard, and added after thinking about it.

"Thanks, but we don't need it for now unless it's the last resort." Nick Fury immediately rejected Thor's suggestion. Unless there was no other way, he would never want to go down this path. He had deep doubts about any civilization from outside the Earth, especially since he had dealt with some extraterrestrial civilizations before. It was easy to invite gods, but difficult to send them away. Perhaps Thor and Asgard didn't mean that, but Nick Fury couldn't help but think in that direction.

"Director, Loki has appeared." Natasha Romanoff's voice sounded in Nick Fury's communicator, causing everyone present, including Nick Fury and Thor, to be shocked.

A group of people rushed out, leaving only the original three people in the laboratory, Luke, Tony, and Banner.

"Coming and going in a hurry, want to hear the news over there?" Tony Stark took out his phone and started projecting the feed using the laboratory equipment.

"You hacked into the system here?" Banner looked at the scene Tony projected, his tone filled with surprise. He didn't expect Tony to be so bold.

"I just helped find a system vulnerability, okay, I did do a little something, but don't make a fuss, don't you want to know what secrets that bald guy is hiding?" Tony's curiosity was obviously piqued by the various information Nick Fury had revealed before.

The screen projected the scene of the mothership's control room, and Tony thoughtfully turned on the speakerphone. Seeing Banner's even more astonished eyes, he curled his lips: "Just a bug, I placed it by the way."

...

"Where is Loki?" Nick Fury asked eagerly as soon as he rushed back to the control room.

"In Washington, D.C." Natasha Romanoff said softly.

"What?" Nick Fury widened his eyes.

"The Washington, D.C. you're thinking of, Director." Natasha Romanoff confirmed Nick Fury's thoughts.

"Motherfucker!" Nick Fury couldn't help but curse. "Latest intelligence, switch the feed over."

"The connection has been cut off. Everything over there is currently unknown. We have no idea what's happening. Perhaps, they have all been controlled." Natasha said the worst possible outcome.

"So, we can't trust any orders or instructions from over there now?" Nick Fury smiled bitterly. But fortunately, although S.H.I.E.L.D.'s main base was in this country, there was more than one authority above him. To be honest, Nick Fury didn't care what happened to those people. Their safety should be the responsibility of other departments, not S.H.I.E.L.D. But the problem was that if they were controlled, it might cause internal turmoil. S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't want to have a firefight with its own people before fighting the enemy.

"Let me go." Thor looked at the last scene of his brother, his face slightly raised on the steps, a mocking smile on his lips, as if he knew they were watching him at this moment, and could see him too. He stated his position: "I will definitely teach him a good lesson and let him know what pain is."

"The situation has become complicated, Thor. In any case, whether we want to or not, we need to send people to assist. Also, maintain information communication with other departments, especially the military." Nick Fury replied with a gloomy look. He didn't think this would be a normal visit. The other party had obviously exposed himself on purpose, and was also attracting them to go over. And what was even more difficult was that they had to follow the script written by the other party.

"Captain." Nick Fury's gaze fell on Steve Rogers. Steve Rogers met Nick Fury's gaze, and Nick Fury said, "We don't know what Loki is up to, but he has indeed grabbed our [weakness]. You and Thor go over there, solve the problem, is there a problem?"

"No problem." Thor answered first. Captain America nodded, turned around and walked towards the outside of the deck without dragging his feet. While walking, he said, "Save time, Thor, use your hammer to fly me over there."

"Can you handle it? The speed of the hammer may make you uncomfortable. I'm not looking down on the weakness of your Midgardian bodies, I'm just telling the truth." Thor quickly followed.

"The fastest speed, no problem." Captain America touched the ring on his hand, turned his head and said to Thor, who was catching up and walking side by side.

"I'm afraid it's too late, Director." The intelligence officer in charge of gathering information suddenly stood up in horror and projected the scene onto the virtual screen in mid-air.

On the screen, a magnificent, dark blue beam of light shot into the sky, piercing the somewhat gloomy and dark sky. The screen moved down, revealing that the source of the beam was a triangular, pyramid-like instrument. At the tip of the instrument was a black cube that shimmered with colorful light, as if lifted by some mysterious force, suspended in mid-air and rotating.

Above the Tesseract cube was a circular instrument with a diameter of more than ten meters, also suspended in mid-air. It was constantly drawing energy from the cube below, and then turning it into a solid and magnificent beam of light, gushing towards the sky.

The violent energy stirred the gloomy sky. Under the gaze of everyone, including Thor and Captain America, who had not yet left the control room, the sky seemed to have been blasted open by that beam of energy into a gate leading to another world. As the energy of the beam below continued to pour in and increase, the diameter of the azure halo in the sky also continued to increase. First it was a small opening, and then in a very short period of time, it expanded to a diameter of hundreds of meters, and was still expanding, constantly expanding.

From the blasted portal, black, tiny figures streamed out, like swarming bees, densely covering the sky. And like rain, the numbers continued to emerge.

The screen switched to a split screen, focusing on those small figures, which were silver-white, humanoid soldiers like mechanical creations. They were holding gun-like weapons in their hands, firing in mid-air. The dense numbers created a dense rain of energy light, which exploded on the buildings below.

The portal in the sky was still expanding its edges as energy poured in. When a huge, suffocating mechanical creation poked its huge head and body out of the portal like a fish swimming out, everyone in the control room held their breath and fell into deep silence.

"He stole the Tesseract in order to open this wormhole and summon this army?" Nick Fury stood up, his eyes meeting the eyes of the people below one by one, "The other party has already shown their cards, so we have to keep up."

"Before I mobilize people to go there to support you, you need to maintain the situation as much as possible and prevent them from deteriorating and spreading. I know this is difficult, but we have no way out. I will notify the military to join this war and help you control the situation."

Thor looked embarrassed, wanting to say something, but feeling that he shouldn't speak at this moment. After all, what caused everything in the picture was his brother, who always liked to cause trouble. Captain America turned around, called Thor, and quickened his pace towards the outside of the deck. Thor was very grateful for Captain America's call, so in order to leave this somewhat embarrassing environment, he couldn't wait to chase after him.

"Old buddy." Nick Fury's gaze turned to Frank Castle.

"You know I hate all the official troubles." Frank Castle shrugged.

"You're not going to save those politicians, but to save the world." Nick Fury corrected his concept, "A quarter of the debt, how about it?"

"You're generous, you're right." Frank Castle also stood up, the ring on his hand turned bright red, and a layer of red energy surged up his body, but this time he didn't lose control.

"You guys also prepare, each of you take a small team." Nick Fury watched Frank Castle, who had turned into a red light, rush out, and finally his gaze fell on his agents, Hawkeye Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff. He was now only grateful that in order to deal with this crisis, he had gathered a group of the most combat-effective agents under S.H.I.E.L.D. That is, the elite agents who possessed Beast series rings and were also equipped with Mind Rings.

Finally, Nick Fury pondered for a while in the control room, which was empty of combat personnel, and returned to the mothership laboratory where Luke and the other two were. He hadn't forgotten that there were still three considerable combat forces inside.

"See, I knew he would come looking for us." Tony Stark quipped, giving Dr. Banner a look, seeing Nick Fury appear outside the door.

"I need your help." Nick Fury made his request directly.

"We agreed, I'm just here to contribute my knowledge." Dr. Banner raised his hands.

"Are you saying that laboratory personnel should also go to the battlefield?" Luke asked, sitting in his chair.

"I'm temporarily on their side." Tony Stark pointed to Luke and Banner and took a step back.

"You all already know the situation." Nick Fury looked at the screen in the laboratory, which was still broadcasting the scene from the control room, and instantly understood that Tony and the others must have done something. They probably knew what they should know and what they shouldn't know.

"This is not a small fight, but an extraterrestrial invasion. I don't believe you can stand by and watch while your comrades are fighting the enemy on the battlefield. It's not that I need your strength, but that the world needs your strength. Take out anything good you have, I know you, Luke, and Stark, definitely have your own trump cards, especially you, Luke. As for the Doctor, you can still have your own choice, just as we discussed, you only contribute your knowledge, I will not force you or ask you to go to the battlefield, even if the Hulk inside you may be a powerful force to turn the tide of the battlefield." Nick Fury said to the three of them with a serious expression.

"Mouth cannons don't work on me." Luke spoke first.

"The Tesseract." Nick Fury said, "I promised you, if you help me control the situation, I can add another month."

"I also want Loki's scepter." Luke made his request.

"No problem." Nick Fury expressed his ease with Luke's request. He was really afraid that Luke would make some difficult requests to him at this time. "But you need to report the use and experiments of the scepter."

"I'm just using it to study whether it can make the new energy even better." Luke stood up.
