American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#224 - War of the Realms: King Meets King

A camp of the Dark Elf coalition.

Night.

Rustling sounds approached from the distance in the darkness, like a large number of insects crawling on the ground. The Dark Alliance soldiers on night watch looked towards the source of the sound.

A black shadow suddenly jumped out of the darkness and pounced directly on the face of the soldier who had poked his head out to observe. It was a creature with a long tail, like a scorpion. After pouncing on the soldier's face, its long tail went straight into the other's open, screaming mouth. Soon, the soldier tore the scorpion-like creature from his face.

However, this was just the beginning.

Countless black shadows darted out of the darkness, each hunting for its own host in the camp.

This caused a commotion in the camp.

"What is this?"

"Why wasn't there a warning?"

"Ugh..."

...

The commotion caused by the strange creatures was quickly suppressed and calmed down, and the camp was littered with the fragmented corpses of the monsters. The camp manager stood up, his face gloomy as he looked at the corpses all over the ground.

"Their energy index is very low. Because they were identified as harmless, the alarm system didn't work," a Dark Elf in charge of the camp's security system explained, standing next to the manager.

"They do seem to be not very threatening." The manager looked at the uninjured soldiers, and his gloomy expression eased a little. Judging from the scene, these insects were indeed not very lethal, and hadn't even taken a single soldier's life.

"Maybe our camp is located around their nest, and they regarded us as prey and intruders," the security Dark Elf speculated.

"Are there such creatures here?" The manager felt a faint sense of unease.

"Who knows? No one can know how many kinds of creatures there are in the Nine Realms. There are even more types and wider distribution of harmless insects like these," the security Dark Elf said softly.

"Ugh!"

"Ugh!"

"..."

Suddenly, a series of vomiting sounds rang out one after another. The manager raised his head keenly, only to see that most of the surrounding soldiers were bent over, retching uncontrollably.

The smell in the camp instantly became unpleasant.

The manager noticed that these vomiting soldiers seemed to be mostly those who had fought with the insects. The inexplicable sense of unease in his heart suddenly rose sharply, but before he could do anything, the situation on the field instantly collapsed and deteriorated.

Chih!

A section of dark, shiny blade sliced out of a Dark Elf soldier's abdomen. The soldier's body rapidly thinned, and a large amount of life force flowed away. Under the shocked gaze of the crowd, it was as if he had gone through his entire life in a short moment, and his body aged beyond recognition.

Then, a black monster burst out of the other’s shriveled body.

One.

Two.

Ten.

A hundred.

Dense and numerous.

Almost in the blink of an eye, the camp was filled with these black monsters.

"Enemy attack!" The manager finally shouted out, and at the same time, he raised the weapon in his hand and launched the first attack on the black monsters.

The beam attack landed on the monster closest to him, but it was directly blocked by the layer of black carapace on its body that rapidly hardened in the wind. The attacked monster suddenly turned its head and stared at the manager who attacked it.

What kind of creature was that?

It had a streamlined body, as smooth as a fish in the sea. It stood on two thick lower limbs, its arms were two black claw blades, and its spindle-shaped head had highly corrosive saliva dripping from its mouth.

The manager looked at the monster that was opening its mouth and hissing as it charged towards him, and a strong sense of fear arose in his heart. He didn't know where this sudden emotion came from, but he was inevitably affected by it.

He subconsciously retreated and ran away.

However, it was undoubtedly foolish to turn his back to the hunter who was close at hand. The manager realized this the moment he turned around. But before he could take remedial measures, a sharp tongue pierced directly through his head.

Hiss!

The alien creature that killed the manager raised its head, opened its mouth, and made a silent hiss. A circle of invisible sonic waves rippled through the air. The surrounding alien creatures seemed to be summoned, and they raised their heads one after another and hissed in unison.

The soldiers in the camp were in complete chaos for a while, and beams of light flew horizontally, occasionally landing on their companions in the camp. They only felt that their bodies had lost their strength and were soft and unable to exert force. Some even felt a strong sense of fear in their hearts, like a flock of sheep that had been broken into by hungry wolves, and the chaos began to spread.

A small number of coalition soldiers who were immune to the alien creatures' peculiar sonic wave attacks due to their life forms fell to the ground one by one under the relentless and tacit hunting of many alien creatures.

The layer of black hard shell on the alien creatures seemed to have good defensive properties against physical strikes and energy attacks. The high-temperature lethality that the soldiers of the Muspelheim fire giant clan prided themselves on was frustrated in front of this group of alien creatures. They were even regarded as energy and food, and became the alien creatures' supplies.

Near the camp, Hogun suddenly opened his closed eyes and made a gesture of attack to Thor and his other companions.

Upon receiving Hogun's instructions, Volstagg rushed out with his weapon. However, as fast as he was, there were two figures who were even faster than him. Thor swung his Mjolnir and rushed directly into the sky, and then fell into the camp accompanied by dazzling lightning.

Another huge figure, like a Midgard canine creature, rushed into the camp closely behind Thor.

"Hiss!"

The alien creatures hissed in dissatisfaction at Thor who had broken into their midst, and the canine creature blocking Thor also bared its teeth and made a threatening low roar at the alien creatures that were gathering around.

As Hogun followed from the sky, holding up a black and red mixed amber-like object, the alien creatures that had quietly surrounded them and wanted to launch an attack shook their heads, took two steps back, gave way to the battlefield, and went elsewhere to carry out their hunting.

"You should have waited for me, Thor." Hogun said to Thor after seeing the alien creatures retreat.

"What's the difference? These creatures are so cute, aren't they, Toli?" Thor patted the head of the big dog in front of him.

"Woof woof!" The big dog called Toli responded with a woofing sound, as if echoing Thor's words.

"Take it with you. It will help you avoid being attacked by them. Although you may not care," Hogun threw the black and red mixed amber crystal in his hand to Thor and instructed.

Thor took the crystal without replying, picked up his hammer, and joined the battle with his dog.

"What is that!" Volstagg waved the weapon in his hand and smashed a fire giant as tall as him, and ran to Hogun's side with a thud, wiping his face. He felt that something had bitten his butt just now, and the thick, extraordinary armor hadn't completely blocked the attack. Based on the experience and understanding of the past few days, it should have been done by one of the alien creatures.

"The Queen's shed carapace crystal." Hogun raised his head and looked at Volstagg. "It carries the Queen's genetic aura and can deter and command alien creatures when worn."

"Give me one." Volstagg stretched out his hand. "Those little things attacked me. Their teeth are really sharp, and my armor seems to have been bitten. After I go back, I have to find a dwarf craftsman to repair it. If the dwarves don't have time, then I can only find Luke. It seems he has a few dwarf craftsmen over there."

"We don't have much time." Hogun took out another crystal and threw it to Volstagg. "Take it and remember our purpose."

"Expand an alien army. I understand," Volstagg said in a muffled voice after taking the crystal.

After Thor and the others joined, the entire camp completely collapsed and became chaotic. In the absence of a leader, Thor's combat power was almost at the top of the Nine Realms, coupled with a group of alien armies with extremely rich hunting experience and tacit cooperation. The entire camp quickly progressed from chaos to defeat in a short period of time.

At the same time.

In another camp, the same thing was happening. It's just that Loki, Sif, and Fandral were leading the team here. Although they didn't have Thor's outstanding martial power, they used the alien army to create a great situation under Loki's control. Although the process was not as smooth as Thor's, it could be said to be a successful raid.

The alien creatures' debut performance was very satisfactory to the Asgardians. They were indeed a group of natural hunters, just as Luke had promised. The carapace on their bodies could even withstand several attacks from Mjolnir. At the same time, they could also rely on hunting and devouring to evolve to a higher level.

This was a group of almost perfect, highly aggressive evolutionary creatures!

The reason why they were said to be almost perfect was that there were still defects in their genes. The high evolvability brought about their relatively short lives. Luke did not deliberately correct this, or rather, he regarded this defect as an advantage.

They existed as consumables from birth!

Since they were consumables, the so-called longevity was naturally not a very important issue. In fact, it was difficult to say whether these alien creatures could live to the end of their lives and rely on evolution all the way to their lifespan.

Without a constant supply of resources, out of consideration for resource consumption, even the Queen would actively clear out a batch of alien creatures under her command. Or rather, the true perfect form of the alien creatures was the Queen!

The alien creatures would contribute the genetic organization they devoured and evolved to the Queen in the form of alternative food. After the Queen devoured and consumed it, she would automatically store this gene in her body. It could be said that every Queen was equivalent to a Brood subspecies of the hive. Not only did they have extraordinary physical attack power and unparalleled defensive power, but they also had a variety of genetic abilities.

If there was no limit, then this would be a rather terrifying biological weapon.

Fortunately, its life form currently had shackles and it was difficult to make a higher-dimensional leap.

...

Soon, Malekith and the others, who had not yet planned their next goal, were greeted by attacks from all directions from the alien creatures. These alien creatures were no longer in their original form when they had just emerged from their bodies. Because they had devoured different biological genes, various evolutions and changes had taken place in their forms.

Some had smaller bodies, but their flexibility and attack power had greatly increased. Some had expanded to the size of a hill, like a siege behemoth. Some had bodies rising with high temperatures, and the corrosive acid in their mouths had changed to magma. And a very small number had lost most of their bodies and had almost become some kind of energy-based creature.

Such an alien army with a scale of thousands and thousands naturally attracted the attention of Malekith and the others, and energy weapons with various attributes crisscrossed. Some alien creatures fell, but some ignored those attacks.

Frost Giants, Fire Giants, Dark Elves, Paradise Dimension, the two sides collided together, blended together, and were indistinguishable from each other.

Looking at such a strange-looking army, Malekith's face was cold. A small alien creature with spatial abilities suddenly appeared behind Malekith, and its sharp tail viciously stabbed towards the back of his heart.

However, its attack, which had never failed, was blocked by a red halo.

Then, it let out a strange cry and wanted to disappear, but its ability lost its effect. It was bound by a ball of red energy and moved to Malekith's front. It struggled desperately, but under the **** of the red energy, its struggle was more like a futile effort. With a cold snort from Malekith, the red energy completely erased its existence in the real world.

"Odin!"

A dazzling beam of light fell vertically from the sky. Malekith's pupils shrank when he saw this beam of light. When the beam of light dissipated, it revealed Odin, who was fully armed and holding Gungnir in his hand, as well as Thor, whose body was full of lightning.

A black Bifrost halo spread out not far away, and sulfur and cold energy poured out of it. A group of demons with horns on their heads emerged from the Rainbow Bridge with strange laughter.

"You actually joined forces with Hell?" Malekith looked at the demons and looked at Odin with some suspicion. In his impression, Odin didn't look like someone who could find reinforcements. Unless he was facing an unmatched powerhouse.

"It's not a joint effort, just a cooperation." Odin didn't want to say much about this issue. In fact, if he hadn't been put on the spot, he wouldn't have wanted these demons from the Hell dimension to participate. After all, Mephisto's thoughts and credibility were indeed something that people couldn't trust at all. But since it had become a reality, he wouldn't think too much. In any case, his current enemy was Malekith.

The dark Rainbow Bridge disappeared.

Then, another dazzling beam of light appeared. Within the beam of light, a dark and tall figure appeared in everyone's sight after the beam of light dissipated.
