American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#227 - War of the Realms: Aether and Abyss
The Queen of Heaven is defeated and dead.
No one could have foreseen this, not even Odin, who was taken aback. He had previously acknowledged Luke, not only for his position but also for his potential to grow and assist his foolish son in the future. However, he never imagined that Luke's strength would increase to this extent in such a short time.
Although the creation before him was not Luke himself, it was clearly a product of his technology. Despite Odin repeatedly raising his estimation of Luke's growth rate, it now seemed he had greatly underestimated him.
To defeat the Queen, a deity of war, on the frenzied battlefield, especially after she had been significantly enhanced by Malekith's epic War of the Realms at the beginning of the conflict, was a testament to the creation's power and dreadfulness.
Malekith felt the Queen of Heaven's aura and vitality weaken, then vanish altogether. Shocked, he turned to look at the area where her presence had disappeared.
His gaze fell upon emptiness. Aside from shattered armor fragments and the broken Queen's sword, only the silent stranger, resembling a robust old man, stood there.
As if sensing Malekith's gaze, Light Luke's indifferent eyes locked with his.
...
"What's going on? I can't sense the Queen's aura or the blessings of war anymore!" An angel in the distance suddenly cried out in alarm.
"I can't feel the Queen's life force either," another angel added.
"Fernandez, what exactly happened to the Queen?" The surrounding angels all turned to Fernandez, their highest-ranking officer at the moment. Fernandez, the military and political leader of the Heavenly Kingdom, wore an extremely complex expression.
"The Queen is dead," he said.
"How is that possible? How could the Queen die on the battlefield! Who could possibly kill her?" An angel exclaimed, his eyes wide with horror, instinctively refuting Fernandez.
"It is the truth. I truly cannot sense the Queen's life force anymore. Even more terrifying, I can sense that the divine authority of war no longer belongs to the Queen," Fernandez said coldly, suppressing the complex emotions within him.
As the Queen's subordinate, he was loyal to her and to the Heavenly Dimension, but at this moment, he felt an irrepressible sense of relief mixed with sorrow. He thought of his lover.
[Malekith: I can help you defeat Odin, destroy Asgard, and let the people of Asgard experience everything the Heavenly Kingdom has suffered for thousands of years. But I need you to contribute, and let me experience the feeling of slaughtering an angel.]
Annamni, Fernandez's lover, was chosen by lot to be sacrificed to Malekith.
Out of respect for the Queen of Heaven, Fernandez was willing to fight for her temporarily, but out of hatred for her, Fernandez was happy to see her defeat and death.
The moment his lover died, he foresaw his possible future betrayal. He wanted to know, who exactly killed the Queen on the battlefield!
Because of the uncertain fate of the Queen, the angels of the Heavenly Kingdom fell into some confusion. They didn't know if they should continue fighting.
After all, with the Queen's aura and blessings gone, their combat power was also affected. The demons of Hell, their opponents, sensed the confusion and fear emanating from the other side and intensified their offensive.
"I'm going to the Queen's battlefield to see what's happening!" Fernandez shouted, cleaving an approaching demon in half with his sword. Without looking back, he flew towards the battlefield of kings.
Along the way, angels broke away from their opponents, flapping their wings and following closely behind him.
After flying for more than a minute in the sky, they finally saw a chaotic battlefield with drastically altered terrain. The familiar scenery was gone, replaced by flying dust and violent energy. Bottomless abyssal ravines connected to underground lava, bubbling upwards with rolling heat. The air shimmered and distorted the light. For a moment, the area resembled the sulfurous, hellish environment of their nightmares.
Three figures, moving at speeds too fast for the naked eye to follow, constantly collided in this area. Each collision was a massive energy explosion. Energy disturbed energy, and this area had become a forbidden zone that only the strong could enter. Even angels, whose physical qualities were far superior to those of humans in Midgard, were buffeted and injured by the chaotic energy in this area.
For example, a unlucky fellow who was sent flying was directly enveloped by the chaotic and active energy of this area, bleeding profusely as if he had been subjected to a thousand cuts. He was scoured down to a skeleton, and then, under the erosion of the energy, turned into wind-blown sand. Seemingly intact, the slightest external pressure would cause his bones to disintegrate and scatter with the wind.
The angels sensed the danger and flew around the area, but none dared to approach. They could only patrol the sky, trying their best to find traces of their Queen under the influence of the chaotic energy.
"Odin!"
Malekith roared in anger. The response was the tip of a divine spear projected from the void. The Aether particle constructed a barrier, blocking Odin's Gungnir, the Spear of Eternity.
The energy effects of the Aether particle were ever-changing. It was known as the supreme power outside the four elements, and, especially when provided with the energy of a Power Stone, it possessed the power to distort and alter reality. Against any other opponent, Malekith would not be as embarrassed as he was now. In terms of deception and concealment, Loki was no match for Malekith, who had mastered the Aether particle.
However, it was precisely his old rival, Odin, the King of Asgard, who was extremely familiar with the energy usage of the Aether particle and possessed various targeted methods of restraint. Odin could always find his true form, and Gungnir, known as the unfailing spear, would inevitably appear before him when needed.
The three-eyed monster who had eliminated the Queen of Heaven could also find his true form and deliver timely, unavoidable attacks. Malekith now desperately needed a helper, someone who could hold off either Odin or Light Luke.
As expected, the moment he blocked Gungnir, Light Luke teleported behind him, his four arms unleashing countless punches in an instant, each landing on Malekith's back. The dark armor on his body was on the verge of collapsing and disintegrating. The chaotic high energy around him disturbed space. Unless one was a master of space manipulation, even those with the ability to teleport would not dare to use it in this area. The Aether particle, constantly leaking from Malekith's mind, exacerbated this phenomenon, but still failed to restrain Light Luke.
The latter still leisurely used his spatial teleportation ability, treating the surrounding chaotic energy as if it did not exist. Even the reality-altering power that Malekith wielded with the Aether particle as its core had no effect on Light Luke. The latter possessed at least one energy core with a position equal to that of the Aether particle, resisting and blocking the Aether particle's power from taking effect.
Just like Odin in the past.
An icy tide, carrying bone-chilling frost, roared in from afar like a sea wave. Everything in its path was forcibly covered with a layer of ice, and living things were frozen into silent ice sculptures without even a struggle, their souls included.
The steamy, hot arena was suddenly cooled down by the rushing tide of cold, and even the surrounding chaotic and violent energy became sluggish. Within a hundred miles, the area was transformed into a biting glacier under the surge of the cold tide. The terrain was forcibly changed once again.
"Laurel!!" Malekith felt the biting chill on his body and was overjoyed, calling out to a Frost Giant of particularly large build.
Laurel, King of Jotunheim, entered the battlefield.
"Is that woman dead? Not worth the wait after all." Laurel exuded intense cold, glanced around, and sneered after discovering that the Queen of Heaven's life force had indeed disappeared from the battlefield.
Malekith's face darkened. Before Odin appeared, he never thought he would lose this war. Whether in terms of the number of soldiers or the strength of experts, his side had an absolute advantage. He really wanted to bring about Ragnarok for Asgard. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Ever since Light Luke appeared, all plans and designs had completely gone out of control.
A huge variable was enough to reverse all unfavorable situations.
Especially since he had not expected that the Queen of Heaven, who had undergone multiple enhancements, had her strength restored to its peak, and was still on the battlefield, would be defeated so quickly in her battle with Light Luke! Less than two hours! For opponents of their level, how could anyone kill an opponent of the same level without a protracted war? Even if one had an absolute advantage, it would be the same. If the other party was determined to run, it would be difficult to stop them.
Didn't Odin want to solve him once and for all after sealing the Aether particle back then?
He just couldn't solve it.
Unless he was seeking death.
"Odin!" Laurel went straight for Odin as expected. As a war maniac back then, Odin's opponents were all over the Nine Realms. It wasn't just the Queen of Heaven who had a deep hatred for Odin and Asgard.
Laurel, who had the Casket of Ancient Winters stolen from him, was also one of the victims back then.
"Don't fight me for him!" Malekith rushed towards Odin first, but Laurel's movements were no slower than his. The frost raged, and even space seemed to begin to freeze. A layer of frost instantly hung on Malekith and Odin's bodies. Laurel launched an attack on Odin after him.
Malekith cursed inwardly. Although the coalition was led by him, the other collaborators besides the Queen of Heaven were all unruly existences. Their only purpose for gathering together was to overthrow Odin's rule, divide up the territory, and replace him as the new master of the Nine Realms. So he couldn't order Laurel or Surtur at all. Only the Queen of Heaven was more cooperative with his actions out of gratitude.
Laurel snatched Odin away, so Malekith could only face Light Luke. If he could, he would certainly prefer to fight Odin and leave Light Luke to Laurel. Perhaps Odin was stronger than Light Luke, but he had enough understanding of his old rival, and that understanding was enough to guarantee his safety. But Light Luke was different. The other party was completely unfamiliar to him, especially with the Queen of Heaven's defeat, Malekith would of course be more cautious.
A blazing and dazzling deadly ray burst out from Light Luke's open palm, launching the attack first. The powerful energy contained in the light was enough to pierce through the Earth's core of an ordinary planet. Malekith used the energy of the Aether particle to forcibly distort the direction of the ray. A dazzling rainbow of light streaked across the sky and disappeared.
Malekith retaliated with a counterattack, trying to erase a certain part of Light Luke's body, but the power of reality modification poured into Light Luke's body and was inevitably met with strong resistance, canceling each other out with some kind of power.
Under the overflow of high-dimensional energy, it was difficult for Malekith to even modify the reality parameters within the vicinity of Light Luke.
Light Luke opened his four arms, lifting them towards the sky. The energy core in front of his chest provided him with almost endless power. A dazzling and huge pillar of light rose into the sky, piercing through the sky and revealing a dark area.
Malekith instinctively felt a certain threat. This threat came both from the Light Luke opposite him and from the mysterious world that had been opened up in the sky.
A huge [black stain] dripped from the hole opened in the sky, slowly but surely. At the same time, a powerful and maddening force poured out from the hole along with the black stain. Maddening whispers appeared on this planet for the first time, causing strong energy pollution to all objects on this planet, whether living or dead.
Even Malekith felt certain changes in his body in the whispers for a moment. But he reacted extremely quickly, using the energy of the Aether particle to forcibly modify it back and block the sound. But to his surprise, even the energy of the Aether particle could not completely block the whispers and pollution, but only reduced it to a tolerable level. The influence was still there, but it would not affect his mind and body in the short term.
The black stain drew out a long tail, but eventually dripped onto the earth like a drop of black water. The stain splashed open, and a layer of black energy was spread over the entire icy ground.
A dark and tall figure stood out from this stain. The moment he saw the other party, Malekith widened his eyes and exclaimed: Algrim?
