American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#325 - Contract, Teleport, New World
Wanda also looked at her former teacher with a complex expression. Agatha wasn't a person without courage, or rather, she was someone who truly pursued power.
For power, she could do anything.
Given the demands Luke was making, she would almost certainly agree without hesitation.
As Wanda expected, Agatha didn't hesitate or waver in the slightest. "I can accept this bet, but how can you guarantee its fairness?"
"Are you implying that I'll cheat behind the scenes? I won't deny that other dimensional demon gods might do that, but it's unnecessary for me.
What I want is a perfect masterpiece!
Whether you live or die is of no importance to me." Luke grinned with a slightly mocking smile.
Agatha fell silent. Her mind was rapidly assessing whether Luke was telling the truth. When she looked at Hela beside her, she suddenly understood.
Regardless of whether Luke was telling the truth, she was left with only one path.
Cooperation.
Whether it was active or passive cooperation, from the moment she arrived here and met Luke, she had already reached her end. Active cooperation still offered a chance of survival, and if Luke wasn't deceiving her, once she obtained Hela's body and knowledge, her power would indeed experience a significant boost.
Passive cooperation, on the other hand, offered no hope at all.
"Of course, a soul war is a lengthy battle, and any external factors could lead to the failure of one of you. It's normal for you to be wary. How about this?
I'll send you to another universe. A universe that I can't currently reach. That way, your concerns about my influence will be greatly reduced to the minimum."
Seeing Agatha's hesitant expression, Luke smiled and added another condition that made Agatha's heart flutter.
"Another universe?" Agatha looked at Luke, her sharp eyes trying to discern any possible anomalies on his face, but his tone and expression were so sincere that she felt it was somewhat unreal.
"A very special universe, worthy of my occupation. I sent an Apostle there, but there may have been a slight accident, he disappeared, and no information was sent back.
Worse, my connection with that universe has begun to fade, and I must send someone again before that connection disappears to strengthen it.
What do you think? A universe I can't currently reach, where you can freely unleash all your abilities without worrying about my influence. If you are the victor, you only need to bring that universe to me. Hela knows the method." Luke looked utterly sincere.
"Do I have a choice?" Agatha took a deep breath and asked with a wry smile.
"Then, the bet is made." Luke took out a contract with an ominous aura. "Take a look, and if you think it's okay, sign it. Compared to other things, contracts are more trustworthy and binding, aren't they?"
Agatha glanced warily at the foul energy swirling on the contract, which made her feel terrified and uneasy. She had never imagined that there was such a dark energy in the world that even a slight sensation felt like her entire soul was being polluted.
But she also felt somewhat relieved. A contract restrained by this level of energy was extremely powerful for both parties. At least she believed that she couldn't resist this contract or violate it. But this made Luke's words seem even more credible in her mind.
"The terms above are fine." As a witch second only to Ancient One and Wanda in terms of power, Agatha's extensive knowledge of magic also stood at the top of witches and mages. In particular, she was proficient in dark magic and had her own unique skills. It would be extremely difficult to deceive her on a magical contract. Even Mephisto would find it difficult to do so.
And Luke hadn't tampered with the contract, which further increased Agatha's trust. To the point that she didn't realize that her thinking and inclinations, under the influence of various factors, had unconsciously followed Luke's plan as he had hoped.
"Happy cooperation, I wish you victory."
Luke watched Agatha sign the contract with her own magic, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
"Let Hela take you to the teleportation point. The process may not be pleasant, and I can't predict what will happen there. Please take care of yourself. Of course, if you have any unresolved matters that need to be arranged, I can give you some time." Luke said to Agatha, watching the contract curl up in the air and then burn away in a black flame, disappearing without a trace.
"I have no other matters to arrange." Agatha shook her head. With the contract signed, she could already feel the heavy and oppressive force of restraint. It was as if there was a gaping abyss behind her, ready to devour her completely and grind her to dust.
"Please." Luke opened a portal in front of Agatha and Hela.
Agatha followed Hela into the portal without looking back, not even sparing a glance at Wanda, as if she had forgotten Wanda's existence.
Watching the portal disappear, Wanda looked at Luke with a complicated expression. "Is what you said true?"
"What's true?" Luke asked back, feeling strange about Wanda's inexplicable words.
"That you don't care whether she lives or dies." Wanda frowned, somewhat hesitantly.
"What do you think?" Luke asked curiously.
"It should be true, right? After all, you put in so much effort." Wanda speculated. If it were false, why would Luke waste so many words and make so many promises?
"False!" However, Luke casually gave an unexpected answer that surprised Wanda.
"False?" The expression on Wanda's face couldn't help but stiffen.
"The mouth of capital, a deceiving ghost! How dare she believe me so much? Because I guided her emotions? Oh, I'm sorry, I'm a person with flexible moral principles, but I don't have any!" Capital Luke said proudly.
For a moment, Wanda didn't know what kind of expression and words to use to respond to Luke's smugness.
"Don't look at me like that, do you understand the pressure of KPIs? It's impossible for me to do any losing business! Even the original Luke can't ask me to do that! He can let me die, he can destroy me, but he can't force me to lose money!
Everything I said is true, I just concealed the pitiful chance of her success, and all kinds of bad information. I need a powerful, knowledgeable, willing witch to dedicate her soul, her everything, without her resurrecting through another body. She's just the last consumable material."
Luke's words revealed a cold and ruthless scumbag-like indifference.
