#399 - The Abyss Descends [Part 2]
The vast, mighty black liquid transformed into a tsunami-like wave, scouring the land below amidst the black torrential rain. Buildings were corroded within the black flood, then fractured and submerged in the black tide.
No one could withstand this black tsunami wave; all resistance was futile. The area covered by the celestial void had become a forbidden zone for life. Anyone who dared to enter this area would be rapidly corrupted, mutated, and killed.
A patch of ink-like blackness on Apokolips was spreading rapidly at an inconceivable rate, threatening to engulf the entire planet.
Darkseid, on the satellite, had now realized something was wrong. He felt his Parademon army was dying at an unpredictable rate. Apokolips seemed to have become a meat grinder, devouring any army thrown into it. Especially now, the expanding black patch on Apokolips gave him an extremely dangerous intuition.
It was a powerful force!
A powerful and extremely dangerous force!
Its level was no weaker than the Omega Effect and the Anti-Life Equation he wielded, and might even be stronger. It was so extreme! Filthy! Dark! Even with a heart of stone, he couldn't help but want to stay far away when he sensed that power.
No life could ignore this force, not even him, a New God of the universe!
But even against his will, Darkseid couldn't stand by and watch Apokolips fall before his eyes, to be destroyed by an unknown force without resistance!
Two red beams shot out from Darkseid's eyes, striking the spreading black patch on Apokolips at the speed of light in space.
Omega Effect!
An unavoidable attack that was guaranteed to hit once used. Once locked on, no matter how you dodged, the beam would chase you, like the Hounds of Tindalos, even if you fled to other locations, timelines, dimensions, or even universes, it would follow you relentlessly.
Once hit, there would be an explosion of extremely high energy, the power of which even Superman would find difficult to withstand. If fully powered, it could directly erase the target. Whether the target was a living person or an inanimate object. Any matter was included.
Darkseid could manipulate the power of the Omega Effect to achieve the effect he wanted.
The beams landed on the black patch, and Darkseid unleashed the full power of the Omega Effect almost without reservation. Without the black patch, this power would have been enough to bring disaster to Apokolips.
However, no matter how Darkseid urged the Omega Effect, the black patch was never erased. Instead, there was a surge of resistance, an eagerness to use the power of the Omega Effect to corrupt and defile it in reverse.
Sensing this situation, Darkseid almost subconsciously interrupted the Omega Effect beam. Several black liquid tentacles, like waves, shot up along the beam, but lost their target and were drawn back to the black patch.
The Omega Effect did not have the desired effect on the black patch, or rather, the power level of the Omega Effect was lower than the power represented by the black patch.
Realizing this, Darkseid was shocked and filled with a strange greed. Of course, he knew that the Omega Effect couldn't destroy everything; at least he was helpless against the so-called Source Wall.
When he had just obtained the Omega Effect and felt incredibly powerful, he had also considered the Source Wall, but he was more cautious and only probed it from a distance. After discovering that the Source Wall could resist the power of the Omega Effect, he decisively withdrew. He didn't have the same obsession and persistence with the Source Wall as his father, Yuga Khan.
But other than the Source Wall, Darkseid had never encountered anything that could directly resist the power of the Omega Effect. That mysterious black patch was the second!
Did this mean that the power level represented by the black patch was comparable to the Source Wall?
Darkseid, who already possessed two great powers, didn't mind mastering another, especially if this great power was even higher and stronger in level and power than the Omega Effect and the Anti-Life Equation.
The only pity was that this power was too dangerous, especially to life, with great malice and corrupting power.
But Darkseid didn't care about that. Even if the universe was destroyed, he wouldn't take it to heart. The problem now was, how could he master and seize this power?
Delve into the interior of the black patch?
Even if Darkseid believed in his own strength, facing the frantic warnings of danger from his intuition, he didn't dare to rush in rashly. He felt that if he really dared to rush into the interior of that black patch void, he probably wouldn't be able to get out.
Was there any other way?
Darkseid, from the black patch void that suddenly appeared on Apokolips, suspected that this was a premeditated attack. The space around Apokolips was stable, and there were rigorous and meticulous defense measures against this kind of space teleportation technology. Generally speaking, no one could silently use space abilities to directly open a space wormhole over Apokolips.
Thinking of this, Darkseid ordered his subordinates on Apokolips to evacuate as soon as possible, while carefully probing the surrounding space. The Omega Effect burst out from time to time, erasing the space nodes he suspected.
A rotating portal appeared behind Darkseid. Darkseid almost keenly sensed the energy fluctuations and danger, and immediately turned around, looking at Stephen, Thor, and others who walked out of a rotating circle of sparks one by one.
"He's so ugly!" Seeing Darkseid for the first time, Becky couldn't help but frown. The humanoid creature in front of her, who looked like he was covered in rock skin, didn't fit her aesthetic at all. Although her aesthetic was somewhat deformed when it came to pets, she was still normal when it came to human appearance.
"Are you the invaders?" Darkseid didn't attack immediately, but carefully sized up the people in front of him. Seeing their appearance, he had a rough guess about their origins.
Humans!
The intelligent life on that blue planet.
Coupled with Steppenwolf's failure, Darkseid thought he had connected everything. The humans in this universe seemed to possess some unknown powerful force?
If so, Steppenwolf's two failures seemed excusable?
Stephen had no intention of exchanging pleasantries with Darkseid. He gave Thor a look, and immediately launched a magical attack.
