#403 - Cutting of Time [Part 2]

"Cutting away what's bad for you, and keeping only what you can accept. If that's the case, wouldn't he always be the victor?" After listening to Stephen's words, Thor marveled at the giant's power while also feeling a faint sense of pity for Darkseid, who was locked in battle with the giant. Faced with an opponent who wielded such power, even someone as strong as Darkseid could only enter the domain chosen by the giant.

"It's not quite right to say that. Although this ability involves time, I always feel that it should be different from time itself. Moreover, although the power of time is strong, there are those who have resistance or even solutions to it. The giant's strength lies in the fact that he has fixed the battle process into a performance. You don't need to worry about encountering enemies like the giant. The prerequisite for using this kind of time-cutting power must also be harsh.

For example, if you want to cut out a section of the picture, you can't let it have obvious loopholes. If you let Darkseid use the Omega Effect, you can't cut out the subsequent process of it hitting. Because such loopholes are too obvious and will be immediately noticed and learned by the opponent, who will then try to probe and solve them. Again, time is powerful, but it's not a force that can deliver a final verdict.

If that's the case, he would first need to have the ability to read the future, master precognition, and only then could he cut it off appropriately before the ability is activated, and piece it together into another picture." Stephen carefully sensed the battlefield ahead, meticulously examining the subtle changes that might be overlooked, and cautiously answered Thor.

"In that case, Darkseid would also notice the anomaly, right? After all, he can't not use the Omega Effect. Wouldn't he be aware of his abnormality?" Thor always had some amazing intuition in battle. If it were him, even if his combat power was cut off, and his lightning power couldn't erupt, he thought he would still be able to realize something was wrong through repeated cuts.

"What if the thoughts, the thinking, etc., are all included in the time being cut? That is, every time he wants to use the Omega Effect, no matter how many times it is cut, in his cognition, it will be the first time." The Eye of Agamotto on Stephen's chest assisted his spiritual tentacles to be more sensitive.

Thor shook his head. Even so, he felt that he could still detect the abnormality. He trusted his combat intuition.

"Of course, as time goes by, the possibility of the anomaly being discovered will increase," Stephen added, while paying attention to the battlefield. "Darkseid should have noticed something was wrong, but he shouldn't be able to determine where the problem is yet. If he's not sensitive to time, then what he's likely to think is that the giant is using some means to seal and restrict his power.

He is testing now, testing where the problem lies. His strength gives him the basis to perceive abnormalities and try to solve them. He should still have some secrets on him."

...

It's like this again!

The moment Darkseid used the Omega Effect, he once again discovered the giant who suddenly appeared in front of him, seemingly forcing him to block at just the right moment, thereby giving up releasing the Omega Effect.

As his body creaked from the hammer blows, his mind remained clear as ever, and he quickly took control of his somewhat numb body. He had realized that something must have happened at that moment, which led to the failure of the Omega Effect.

Attack blocked?

He didn't need to make extra movements. He could resist and erase the enemy's attack with just the instantaneous release of the Omega Effect. It was precisely because he believed this that he was repeatedly attacked by the giant.

What caused the failure of the Omega Effect, which used to be as easy as moving his own arm?

What seemed like a normal forced abandonment, when combined again and again, was enough for Darkseid to delve into the anomaly.

The giant brought him great pressure. With just that powerful force, Darkseid had a feeling of being unable to resist. He had always been proud of his power, and the New God physique gave him unparalleled strength. He never thought that one day, he, who possessed super speed, super strength, super life, super endurance, and super recovery, would fear fighting in close quarters.

But the reality was that he was indeed at a disadvantage. Losing the power to release the Omega Effect, even with his rich combat experience, it was difficult for him to cause effective damage to the huge giant. The opponent's body density was comparable to a neutron star, and the surface of his body had a powerful protection of unknown power. Earlier, he had swallowed multiple Omega Effect explosions without any effect.

The giant's eyes suddenly erupted with two particle beams, crossing space and directly hitting the hammer raised by Darkseid. The powerful thrust, and the constant gravity, fixed Darkseid in place, forcing him to bear this sudden energy attack.

In just a moment, the shield that Darkseid used his hammer to prop up was broken through. Immediately afterwards, his entire person was swallowed and enveloped by the beam of light. It was like a beam of energy shot from the depths of the void, hitting a meteorite floating in the middle of the road. The magnificent explosion instantly turned into a dazzling light.

In the center of the dazzling light, Darkseid, who was covered by the light, revealed his embarrassed and miserable figure after the light spread out. The armor of artifact-level protection on his body had turned into juice, and was closely adhered to his rock-like skin. The powerful attack power contained in the energy rays not only directly damaged his protective armor, but also caused considerable damage to his body. Many of his organs suffered extremely serious damage, and even completely lost their function. He was still alive now, and could still move, entirely because of his powerful vitality and resilience. But even so, his current state was already somewhat at the end of his rope.

He could certainly struggle to continue fighting, but in any case, he could not, and did not have time to recover his state.

A more violent energy ray shot from a distance again, and once again hit the charred Darkseid. The magnificent explosion of light appeared in the void once again, brighter and more dazzling than the last time.

"Is he dead?"

Stephen's eyes were covered with a layer of green coating, which reduced the damage of the light to his eyes, and also allowed him to observe the battle more clearly. Just now, he sensitively noticed that Darkseid's life aura had dropped sharply in an instant, and was now like a candle in the wind, on the verge of dying. (End of this chapter)
