American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#416 - Communication and arrival

Bruce couldn't help but think of the several Lukes he had seen before.

"Yes, it's just as you think," Stephen saw the change in Bruce's expression, and understandingly guessed what he was thinking, nodding affirmatively to his probing gaze.

"Won't there be any hidden dangers? Doing this to one's own soul?" Bruce found it hard to understand these people. Just how crazy did one have to be to tamper with their own soul?

This was even crazier than those scientists who directly abandoned their humanity, transforming their human bodies into metal or other creatures!

"It varies from person to person," Stephen said, sitting upright in the chair, his back against the high backrest, his hands clasped together, horizontally across his chest.

"When it comes to who has been most eroded by psionic energy, and who has the most soul appendages, I really can't think of anyone who surpasses Luke. He created psionic energy and single-handedly upgraded it to its current energy level. I can't even imagine the reaction and degree of fusion between the two.

I even suspect that those research and restraint methods produced by Hebron to deal with psionic erosion were invented by Luke for himself. Of course, I can't be sure of this. After all, in my memory, he has always been normal. Not much different from when I first met him.

This is rare!

But now, I haven't seen his main body show up for several years. What we deal with is just a personality he cut out specifically to handle affairs. A bit annoying."

"He cut out several copies of his soul?" Bruce couldn't resist his curiosity. He was still in the aftermath of strong emotional fluctuations and sensitivity. It was like a wound that had just begun to heal, and the feeling in that area would be more sensitive.

Stephen was silent for a moment, then helplessly spread his hands: "Honestly, I don't know."

"You don't know either?" Bruce was a little stunned.

"But the number is definitely not small. Just the tip of the iceberg I've seen is about a hundred or so," Stephen said, his face also showing a little shock. Even after so long, he was still shocked by the sight of the various Lukes in the laboratory in Silent City.

Stephen's words also silenced Bruce. He only cut out two copies, and he already felt his spirit was a little light and illusory. Cutting out nearly a hundred copies? He estimated that he wouldn't even know who he was by then, and it was hard to say whether he would even have the ability to think.

"But I asked my teacher, and her reply to me was that Luke was in very good condition, unprecedentedly good," Stephen rubbed his hands. "So I suspect that he didn't choose my surgical cutting method, or that he has his own better solution.

My preliminary speculation is that he may have cut out himself from the past timeline and backed up his normal state, and then frequently overwritten it? In short, it should be a rigorous and effective solution that allows Luke to avoid, or even be immune to, the influence of psionic erosion.

My teacher never gave me an answer. Neither did Luke. So I can only speculate based on the information I have on hand, and the credibility is not very high, and may even be completely wrong. So just listen to it."

"He cut out so many, won't his soul be unstable?" Bruce pointed to himself. Although he looked normal now, the heaviness of his body and the mental fatigue were still visible if one observed closely.

"Although Luke has always given people the feeling of being human, it has to be said that his life form has long been promoted to a higher level. In our place, existences of his level are collectively called Dimensional Gods, powerful beings that are rejected by the material universe. It's hard to use human standards to measure them.

They generally stay in their own dimensional universe, with many avatars active in various dimensions and universes. So it's also possible that Luke has borrowed the unique abilities of these Dimensional Gods," Stephen smiled. With his understanding of Luke, there were only two possibilities for him to do this: either the technology was mature enough that there were no future troubles, or it was a last resort under no choice.

Compared to the latter, Stephen was more willing to believe the former. After all, whether it was the recognition of Luke's talent or the collection of various information in the details, it was clear that the probability of the former was higher and greater.

"Already a Dimensional God?" Bruce said with some emotion. Although he couldn't understand much of Stephen's words, he could roughly understand their meaning.

"Don't say that, I'm still in a human body," a sudden voice startled Stephen and Bruce, who were talking enthusiastically. The two vigilant minds hadn't noticed when an extra person had entered the room! And this person was sitting in a large chair, as if he had been sitting and listening to them for a long time. If he hadn't spoken, they wouldn't have even noticed his existence.

"Luke?" Stephen's eyes widened as he looked at the familiar face in the chair.

"How did you get in? Why didn't the alarm program I set up warn me?" Bruce looked at the monitoring room, he found that Luke had indeed been there for a certain amount of time, but his monitoring also seemed to have failed, without giving him any warning.

"Maybe it's more obedient?" Luke smiled, not answering Bruce's words directly. In fact, whether it was mechanical or magical monitoring methods, they were of little significance to him now. Gu Yi and Stephen, master and apprentice, used to drop by the homes of various Dimensional Gods from time to time to take things without being invited. What surprised Stephen was that he was so close, yet he hadn't been detected.

"Is this your main body?" Stephen looked at Luke in a white coat, unkempt, and asked tentatively.

"Any me you see can be the main body. But to be serious, a large part of the spirituality I have expanded has long been integrated with psionic energy. If the proportion is used to determine the main body, then psionic energy is now considered my main body. But as everyone knows, thinking determines everything, it's just a [hardware]," Luke stood up and replied.

"What is it here that attracts you, that makes you rush over non-stop?" Stephen vaguely felt something was wrong. He didn't think that Luke had finally been willing to come out of the laboratory to relax and take a trip to clear his mind. There must be something here that was attracting Luke, and its importance was worth him taking a trip out of the laboratory.

"Of course it's something that can help one of my projects," Luke gave him a strange look.
