American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#57 - Science Fiction Particles [Part 1]

Luke led Snoke and Jessica Jones to a sealed room in the lab. Although called a sealed room, it was actually a metal room of about twenty square meters. The side facing them was made of specially made, bulletproof Hyberian glass, allowing an unobstructed view of everything inside.

A small monkey was sitting quietly in the center of the metal room. Around it were a pile of metal toys in shapes like squares, cylinders, and spheres. Beside the monkey was a metal tree for it to climb, play, and exercise.

"This is the only experimental subject."

Luke looked at the small monkey in the metal room and explained softly to Snoke and Jessica beside him.

"Forgive me for being blunt, but I don't see anything abnormal about it." Jessica Jones glanced at it a few times and found that it was just a very ordinary little monkey. Perhaps its only distinguishing feature was that it was quieter than other monkeys she knew?

"Don't worry, you'll see soon enough." Luke reached out and pulled out a virtual screen from the void, adjusted the light in the metal room, and made the special bulletproof glass change from one-way visible to two-way visible. Then, under the gaze of Snoke and Jessica, he stepped forward, bent his finger, and gently tapped the glass wall of the metal room.

The change in light and Luke's actions quickly attracted the attention of the little monkey in the metal room. It held a metal ball in its hand, moved its feet curiously to the glass wall, squatted quietly on the ground, and looked at Luke with docile eyes.

"Boss, do you like small animals? It looks quite cute." Because Jessica had been allowed by Luke to join Hyberion, she followed Snoke's example and changed her address for Luke to BOSS. She stepped forward, squatted down, and subconsciously put her palm on the glass wall, making sounds to tease the animal and attract its attention.

Jessica Jones's actions and sounds successfully drew the little monkey's attention away from Luke. However, the little monkey, which had been so docile when facing Luke, seemed to be enraged when it saw her, suddenly jumping up and opening its mouth to bite Jessica Jones's palm on the glass wall.

The swiftness and abruptness of the attack were as unexpected as lightning. Even Snoke, who was slightly wary and scrutinizing, couldn't help but shrink his pupils. Jessica Jones was so startled by the sudden attack that she stood up subconsciously. It wasn't that she was afraid, but it was just a natural reaction to such a sudden attack.

If there wasn't a thick layer of special bulletproof glass blocking it, the little monkey's bite might have directly hit Jessica's palm. And seeing the flash of metallic color in the little monkey's mouth when it bit down, Jessica Jones didn't hesitate to suspect that it could bite a piece of flesh off her hand.

"What's going on? Its teeth!" The look of shock on Jessica Jones's face hadn't faded as she turned to look at her new boss. She didn't know much, but she knew that this little monkey was abnormal!

However, before Luke could answer, the little monkey in the metal room, which had failed in its sneak attack, seemed to be enraged. Under the horrified gazes of Snoke and Jessica, a blue light appeared on the little monkey's claws. The silver-white metal ball it was holding in its palm seemed to come to life under the blue light, dissolving rapidly, and then, as it dissolved, it quickly turned into individual parts and began to transform.

Finally, a small metal gun appeared in the little monkey's hand.

Bang bang bang!

The greatly weakened sound of gunfire still clearly entered Snoke and Jessica's ears. The horrified look on their faces didn't fade as they saw the little monkey, which had fired three shots, seem very frustrated that it couldn't break the glass wall. Under their increasingly widened eyes, the blue light on the little monkey's hand became even brighter. The pistol that had just been assembled dissolved again, then turned into metal particles and reassembled into individual parts, and then the parts were assembled into a huge cannon barrel.

The whole process was smooth and pleasing to the eye. You could clearly see the composition and assembly of each part, intoxicated and immersed in the beauty of that mechanical combination. In reality, this change only happened in an instant.

"Damn it!"

Seeing the dazzling light coming from the cannon barrel, Snoke subconsciously cursed and wanted to pull Luke away. However, the dazzling laser was faster than his movements, but the terrible event of the laser cannon overflowing didn't occur, but instead refracted.

"Don't worry, this is special glass, and it's not just for bulletproofing." Luke pushed Snoke away and knocked on the glass wall, saying calmly.

"Is this your creation?" Jessica Jones's eyes were a little wide open.

Looking at the little monkey, which was now wielding various cold weapons such as daggers, swords, shields, and axes, and hacking back and forth at the glass wall, Jessica still didn't understand how the metal ball had turned into various weapons in the little monkey's claws, and what exactly that ball of blue light was.

"This is?" Snoke suddenly exclaimed. He saw that the little monkey's body in the metal room was actually beginning to transform from flesh and blood tissue into metal tissue under the blue light. In just the blink of an eye, the little monkey, which had been covered in shiny fur, had turned into a metal monkey with sharp metal teeth.

Snoke knew that his boss had a lot of black technology, and the previous telepathy system and human-machine integration technology had already amazed him, but he didn't expect that his boss could now transform carbon-based life into silicon-based life?

"Is this real, BOSS? Or is it that this was originally a metal monkey, like Rood, one of your mechanical creations? Was the previous form just its disguise, and this is its true face?" Snoke asked Luke in disbelief.

"It was originally a selected experimental monkey, worth twenty thousand dollars." Luke shrugged: "It's just like you think, a flesh and blood life, it will be injured, it will bleed, it will die."

"You modified it?" Snoke frowned slightly. It wasn't that he had any objections to this technology, but he was still somewhat resistant to becoming a mechanical body. Maybe in the future, he would join the ranks of the company's fanatical mechanical faction and embrace semi-mechanical or even fully mechanical bodies, but now he thought it was good to be a person. He didn't know if there would still be such a thing as human emotion after becoming a machine.
