August 1934, the small town of Tønsberg, Norway.

This is a town located in the southeast of Norway, not far from Tønsberg Bay. It has a history of more than a thousand years and is one of the oldest towns in the country. The shipbuilding, papermaking, leather processing and beer industries are relatively developed, and the much-touted handmade silver jewelry is also famous.

When the Vikings were rampant, this place was once very prosperous as a supply site, but later it gradually declined. Now it is basically only elderly people, children, and women who stay in the town, and young people have gone to distant big cities to work hard to make money.

Occasionally, some adventurers and treasure hunters who are pursuing the legend of the Vikings come to the town. Their goal is the ancient royal tombs and pirate treasures in the suburbs.

However, today, more than 2,000 fully armed Nazi elite soldiers came here, driving tanks, trucks, and engineering demolition vehicles, crushing the ice and snow on the ground and breaking the tranquility of the town.

John Schmidt sat on the tank and scanned the ancient buildings in the town through the observation port.

“Where is the treasure of God King Odin?”

“I hope there are still descendants of the people who guarded the treasure in this town, otherwise I have to tear down the whole town to find what I want.”

He was excited and his eyes were burning, and he murmured in a low voice.

The tallest building in the town is an ancient stone castle. As early as when the townspeople found traces of the Nazis, most of the townspeople retreated here under the auspices of the mayor. Young men with guns stood on the top of the city, always on guard against possible attacks by Nazi soldiers.

“We may not be able to stop them with the weapons we have!”

An old man with few hairs, leaning on a silver metal cane, stood trembling on the top of the city. Seeing the large number of Nazi soldiers and advanced weapons and equipment below, his heart could not help but sink.

“Why do these demons from the human world come here?”

“There is really no pirate treasure in our town. Even the royal tombs in the suburbs have more than 680 pieces of burial objects, which are ironware and gold-plated decorations. It is not worth their trip at all!”

The man standing next to him was a tall and strong young man with golden hair tied into several dreadlocks and a typical Nordic beard on his chin.

“Otherwise we go out and surrender. The guns in our hands can’t penetrate the tank armor at all!”

“Mayor, we can’t be confused. Think about your daughter-in-law and grandson. We can’t fight hard. Just listen to me and surrender quickly. I studied at the German University. I can be a translator to help us communicate with the leading officers.”

As soon as the young man finished speaking, the old man swung his crutch and hit him hard on the back.

“Vikings are never afraid of death. If you want to surrender, just go ahead!”

He was so angry that his body was shaking. He walked into the castle with a cane and came to a hall with ancient murals on all sides. He sat down on the cold stone bench.

There was also an old man in his 50s sitting in the hall. He was wearing some kind of clergyman’s clothes and was praying to the tall statue on the north side of the hall. He turned around and asked when he heard the noise.

“What’s the situation outside? What are the Nazis doing here?”

The old mayor sighed, and the air condensed into white mist.

“Bogdormo, what do you think is wrong with young people nowadays?”

“We Viking children are also afraid of war. Our ancestors once roamed the seas and faced death with laughter even when their heads were chopped off.”

“Ever since the glory of the God King Odin no longer shines on this land, our lives have become worse and worse, and even our descendants are getting worse and worse!”

He sighed and suddenly coughed.

“Ahem, you think they are coming for that?

Bogdormo nodded, looked at the painting on the ceiling with a far-reaching gaze and sneered.

“That should be correct, it is the only thing that can attract the Nazis!”

“But how could we hand over the Divine King’s treasure, which we have guarded for more than a thousand years, to the evil Nazis simply because of the threat of death? They are just dreaming!”

“The secret is only known to us two old men. When they break in here, they will only see our corpses!”

His words were full of fearlessness, and his expression was firm as if he was swearing an oath under the gaze of God.

The old mayor laughed loudly, coughing and laughing.

“Ahem, that’s right, Bogdorme, let’s meet our ancestors and His Majesty the God King. I hope we can see each other again in His Hall of Valor!”

There was a sudden burst of fierce gunfire outside the castle. After searching the entire town, the Nazi soldiers only caught some adventurers and treasure hunters.

From these people, they learned that the locals were probably hiding in the castle.

More than 2,000 Nazi soldiers gathered here.

The young and strong men who had never fought a war became nervous and their guns went off, killing the Nazi soldiers sent by John Schmidt to persuade them to surrender.

The Nazi soldiers were used to being domineering and naturally would not suffer in silence.

The machine gunners on the tanks immediately set up machine guns to fire at the top of the city, while the infantry marched forward.

After using explosives to blow up the iron-clad wooden door weighing several hundred kilograms, the Nazi soldiers rushed into the castle like wolves and tigers.

Although they were unfamiliar with the terrain and dozens of people were shot and killed by the people hiding everywhere, they still quickly occupied most of the rooms in the castle with overwhelming force and equipment advantages.

However, the remaining townspeople seemed to have finally found the bravery of their Viking ancestors. They were willing to sacrifice their lives to take away a Nazi soldier before they died. For a while, they blocked them in front of the hall and could not break through.

Listening to the gunshots getting closer and closerHearing the sound of footsteps, Bogdormer raised his pistol and pointed it at his temple.

With a bang, he fulfilled his oath and committed suicide before the Nazis rushed in.

The old mayor pulled out a slender one-handed sword from his walking stick, and was about to stab it into his heart when a huge iron spike broke through the wall made of boulders. The flying stones hit him, and there was a sound of bones breaking. The one-handed sword fell to the ground with a crisp thud.

John Schmidt stepped on his shiny leather boots, walked down from the tank and came to the mayor.

He leaned over to take a look at the seriously injured old man, and sighed in the tone of chatting with an old friend.

“You are indeed the descendant of Viking pirates. You forced me to tear down this wall before I could get in here!”

“Old man, you are the mayor of this town, right? Tell me where is the treasure of King Odin?”

The mayor spat out a mouthful of blood and sneered with disdain.

“Do you think I’m afraid of death? Vikings are spineless. At worst, you can just kill me!”

“I’m 72 years old, it’s time for me to meet my ancestors, why don’t you do it, how come the notorious Nazi officers don’t dare to kill an old man like me?”

He cursed quickly and closed his eyes, pretending that he would never cooperate even if he died.

(John Schmidt glanced at the rubble-filled hall, took off his black leather gloves, and touched the mural on the wall.

His eyes revealed a look of fascination with the war of the gods depicted in the mural. Suddenly he turned around and laughed with an expression of sudden enlightenment.

“Hahahaha, I get it, you old man are really cunning!”

“The guy who committed suicide must have been one of the people who knew about it. You had agreed to commit suicide when we entered the hall, but I didn’t expect that I would find another way to break through the wall and bypass the townspeople who were defending. This also accidentally caused you to be seriously injured and unable to commit suicide.”

“Let me continue to guess. You committed suicide here because the treasure of the God King is here. You want to prove your piety to Odin with your death in front of him!”The seriously injured and dying old mayor suddenly opened his eyes and looked at John Schmidt, who had guessed the secret truth, in disbelief.

His eyes revealed fear and helplessness. He glanced at the sarcophagus in the hall involuntarily and cursed loudly.

“You are an executioner, a sinner with blood on your hands. You cannot get your hands on the treasure of the God King!”

“Even if you guessed that the treasure is in the hall, you will never find it!”

John Schmidt was very observant. He noticed the change in the mayor’s eyes and waved to the Nazi soldiers behind him. (To read exciting novels, go to Faloo Novel Network!)

A dozen tall and strong Nazi soldiers put down their guns and walked towards the huge sarcophagus he pointed at. They tried hard to open the lid of the sarcophagus, but the lid, which was more than a foot thick and made of a whole boulder, did not move at all, as if it was connected to the coffin below which was also carved from a huge stone.

“Tie the iron chain to the lid of the sarcophagus, and then tie it to the tank. I don’t believe it can’t be opened!”

The soldiers who received the order hurriedly followed the order. Soon, amid the huge roar of the tank, the lid of the sarcophagus was pulled open with a bang and fell to the ground, raising a large cloud of dust.

John Schmidt walked over and took out a light blue cubic crystal from the sarcophagus. It looked exactly the same as the one recorded in the ancient book, but it always felt a little wrong.

“Look, I have found the most precious treasure of the Gods, the legendary Cosmic Cube that possesses infinite power!”

“Well, did you think I would say that and then go back with the fakes made by your ancestors more than a thousand years ago? Tsk tsk tsk, it seems that you are not smart enough, otherwise you should not deliberately guide me to look at the sarcophagus!”

He let go of his hand and threw the cubic crystal to the ground, and it broke with a click.

At this time, a team of murderous Nazi soldiers escorted dozens of blood-stained townspeople from the passage to the hall and reported in a loud voice:

“Chief Schmidt, there are more than 30 captives. Do you want to kill them all?”

The old mayor heard the familiar cry, looked up and his mouth twitched a few times. He saw his grandson and daughter-in-law among the captives.

John Schmidt had been paying attention to his reaction. He walked to the captives and shot a town resident.

A little boy among the captives was frightened and cried and begged the old man.

“Grandpa, save me. I don’t want to die. Grandpa, save me!”

The old mayor took a breath and looked straight at the little boy. Two thoughts were fighting fiercely in his heart.

After a long time, he sighed and turned to look at the murals and reliefs on the wall.[]

“Yggdrasil, the World Tree.”

John Schmidt walked to the front of the mural and reached out to carefully explore any possible mechanism on it.

His fingers moved upward from the roots of the world tree and touched the spring that was said to have various magical effects, but the mural did not change at all. He couldn’t help but recall the records about the world tree in ancient books, and then he reached out to the poisonous dragon Nidhogg, who was said to usher in the Ragnarok after biting off the roots of the tree.

Click! Click!

Finally, when he tried to probe the poisonous dragon’s eyeballs, the sound of a mechanism running came from the mural, and a square opening appeared on the relief on the poisonous dragon’s abdomen. A slight pull revealed the cubic wooden box inside.

Feeling the wooden box made of a different material from ordinary wood, John Schmidt opened the lid with a slight trembling hand, and an icy blue light shot out from the wooden box, shining a deep blue on his face.

“The Cosmic Cube, the treasure of the God-King Odin, possesses endless power!”

“Now you are mine, hahaha, I am really a lucky man. With this treasure, plus the super soldier serum that Dr. Arnim Zola reproduced based on the human body transformation paper published by Abraham Erskine, I, John Schmidt, will embark on the path to transcendence and even become a god!”

He smiled morbidly, his eyes revealing endless ambition and greed. After closing the lid of the wooden box, the azure light disappeared immediately.

“allKill them, they are useless!”

The Nazi soldiers pulled the trigger mercilessly, and the bullets pierced through the huddled captives, not even sparing the little boy, who was shot all over his body and fell on his mother’s body, staring at his innocent eyes and dying.

The old mayor, who was seriously injured and unable to move, spit out a mouthful of blood and died in anger. All the people in this town that has been passed down for thousands of years are sleeping today, dying under the guns of Nazi soldiers.
