Azeroth Monster Manual
#27 - Hemit burst into tears when he knew the truth
Fire Feather Mountain
This active volcano, perpetually spewing magma, stood at the heart of the Angolo Ring Mountains. Here, the elven youth and the dwarf were trekking up this deadly peak. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦
“Sizzle…”
“Ouch!”
The smell of burnt clothes mingled with the dwarf's cry of pain.
El reluctantly stopped, reapplying an ice crystal shield to Hermit, the protective 5th circle spell, Ice Armor.
Hermit's scream died in his throat as he patted his chest in lingering fear, hauled his small mountain of equipment off his back, wrung out his soaking sleeves, and wiped the sweat from his balding head.
Fire Feather Mountain's temperature was extremely high. Just standing at the foot of the mountain was suffocating. If El hadn't been constantly casting ice spells to cool them down, the two would have been burnt to cinders long ago.
“Hermit, it’s too hot here. I think you should head down and find a safe place to wait for me. Oh, and don’t break the research equipment on your back.”
El had already put the four-colored crystals into his backpack, while the less valuable research equipment was entrusted to Hermit.
Hermit: I've decided, I'm opening a housekeeping company when I retire.
“M-mister, I'm alright, let’s keep going.”
Hermit tugged at his beard in embarrassment. He was upset that he couldn't help El and didn't want to be a burden to the young man.
“Hermit, your future lies in the endless wilderness, not here. I firmly believe you will become a good hunter…”
Hermit rubbed his reddened eyes, deeply moved. He was about to say something when he heard El’s following words.
“Even though you don't even have a decent hunting rifle, or a battle pet worth mentioning, and your stamina is lacking, and your hairstyle isn't cool…”
El ticked off the points on his fingers, about to continue when he saw the old dwarf already squatting on the ground, weeping bitterly.
“Alright, alright, even though you smoke, perm your hair, and don’t have a pet, I know you’re a good hunter.”
El patted the old dwarf on the back, consoling him softly.
Hermit: Stop, my old heart is pierced.
The old dwarf cried even louder. Who was responsible for this fashionable hairstyle anyway?
…
“Alright, Hermit, just stay here and don't wander around. I’ll be right back.”
El bid farewell to the old dwarf, who was still moved to tears, and flew towards the summit alone.
“Sigh, old Herm is a sincere man, he just can't take praise…”
El clicked his tongue. He flew straight up, admiring the scenery of this fiery mountain.
Hearing a sound, El looked down.
“Huh, could this really be the battlefield of the elemental war in ancient times?”
On the steep mountainside was a winding path, densely packed with fire elementals. Each of these fire elementals was the size of a calf, their entire bodies composed of burning flames.
Their two small golden eyes blinked, giving off a silly, cute feeling. But if you thought these violent elemental creatures were adorable, you'd be dead wrong. These fire elementals, with their two tiny arms, were natural-born spellcasters.
They could mobilize their elemental cores to resonate with the surrounding free-floating fire elements, burning everything with a temperature lower than theirs…
“I really want to catch a couple to fill my resource library, what a pity.”
El shook his head regretfully and continued flying towards the summit.
“Whoosh!”
A white flame projectile, with an orange-red tail, flew towards El.
At that moment, the crystalline blue pupils seemed to gain a filter, becoming deeper.
With the bullet time granted by Hypermnesia, El easily dodged it.
Since when, perhaps with the development of his brain, the bullet time that originally only existed in the memory palace could be used at will.
Imagine being able to see it clearly but not being able to dodge it, what a sad thing that would be.
Fortunately, El was a powerhouse comparable to a high-level warrior. Thanks to his high agility and strength, El was able to easily dodge or predict attacks.
If El's physical fitness couldn't keep up, then bullet time would just be a useless skill for him.
El’s eyes gleamed with amusement as he floated in mid-air.
“A white Flame Burst, the flame’s temperature has reached 4000°? What a terrifying power…”
“Whoosh!”
“Whoosh!”
“Whoosh!”
…
In the few seconds that El's occupational disease flared up, more than a dozen fireballs, about the same size as the white Flame Burst, flew towards the young man at an unbelievable speed.
The explosions in the air started rhythmically, one after another, but later simply merged into a single line.
No sooner said than done, the blurred fireballs crashed into the young man.
“Bang, bang, bang, bang…”
…
The sounds rose and fell, and a thick, dark fog obscured a corner of the sky.
“Insignificant flesh creature, how dare you come to my kingdom!”
Incomprehensible elemental words rang out.
A fire elemental with a bright white flame roared deafeningly, emerging from the magma at the summit.
The one who attacked El was this strange fire elemental, which seemed to be a Flame Lord.
“Your little firecracker's Flame Burst isn't bad? At your temperature, you'd be just right for heating my bathwater.”
A blurry figure emerged from behind the fire elemental, the young man’s handsome face showing a mocking smile.
The thick ice shield collided with the scorching heat, with sizzling sounds constantly ringing out.
Soon the two were enveloped in vaporized steam.
“I am Ragnaros’s Flame Lord - Ah…”
An ice-blue elemental arm swiftly reached into the roaring fire elemental's body, and in an instant, an elemental core filled with white flames was pulled out by El.
“Don't bother reciting the names of the extras, it's just laughable, so… just obediently extinguish.”
…
“Is it water that extinguishes fire? Or fire that evaporates water? That's a question worth pondering.”
El’s elemental hand returned to normal, and he curiously touched his arm, clicking his tongue in wonder.
[Half-Elementalization - Water Element]: Partially transforms the host's body into water (ice) element.
Half-elementalization was a skill El had developed through day and night research after learning to summon water elementals. This was the first time he had used it in actual combat.
“I still need new materials. The water elementals I can summon are only at the Lord level, and half-elementalization is already the limit. Should I… never mind, never mind, now is not the time for that guy Neptulon…”
El shuddered and stopped his crazy thoughts.
…
“Let me see this beautiful elemental core…”
“Hmm, so the secret of high temperature is here?”
“What an ingenious structure, I wonder about Ragnaros… Hehe, hehe, slurps.”
Looking intoxicated, El swallowed and began to study the elemental core in his hand more carefully.
…
Three days later, in an abandoned camp five kilometers away from Fire Feather Mountain.
A patch of green fuzz had grown on Hermit's bald spot, coupled with his short stature and heavy dark circles, he could pass for a Kappa from Japanese folklore if thrown into a river.
“I can't sleep. It's been so long. Master El must be fighting powerful creatures. Although I can’t help, I can't just enjoy myself so comfortably. I've decided, I'll increase the push-ups to 3000 today.”
Hermit gritted his teeth, forcing his tired body to do push-ups, believing that the heroic Master El was still fighting, and he couldn't slack off.
Meanwhile, at this moment, El:
“Hmm, it's so cool and comfortable, but my magic power is dropping a bit too fast, it's already below 95%, I need to recover quickly.”
El, who had just woken up, put the floating Simmons mattress into his spatial backpack and reapplied an ice barrier to himself.
He took out toothpaste, a toothbrush, a towel, and soap, and floated in the air above this dangerous active volcano, completely oblivious to his surroundings, and began to wash up.
Hermit, upon knowing the truth, cried and fainted in the latrine.
