Cyberpunk: Spartan Walker

Chapter 114 Facilities (4)

The sergeant organized his men and began to retreat. Tommy relied on the advantage of the energy shield to withstand two-thirds of the area alone. He threw fragmentation grenades one after another. Fortunately, these small balls were not invulnerable. The high temperature caused by the grenades and the flying fragments destroyed them well.

On the other side, Rebecca heard the gunshots inside and wanted to go in to support, but Aurora held her back.

Rebecca, we have to guard the door, otherwise they will have no way to escape! Aurora was experienced and understood the significance of guarding the escape route in this situation.

But - Rebecca was worried, but was startled by the terrifying roars coming from both sides.

Several monsters rushed out. They were roughly human-shaped, and their hunched appearance looked particularly disgusting. Their limbs were elongated and looked as if they were about to break, and clumps of tentacles sprouted from rough holes in the skin.

Rebecca decisively opened fire with the shotgun, and the large-caliber bullets were extremely effective against these monsters.

Team leader, there are some pieces of rotten meat running towards the exit! Rebecca's panicked voice sounded in the communication channel.

I don’t know what “rotten meat” refers to, but it must be with these little balls. Tommy's heart tightened, Don't hold back, hit them with missiles!

Damn it! Rebecca cursed, and several deafening explosions sounded outside the door, making the whole building tremble.

The exit passage has been cleared! Aprila shouted.

Although there were many small balls, they were vulnerable to attack. Tommy kept firing, Ellie, mark a retreat route for us!

Almost immediately, the route they had taken popped up on everyone's heads-up display.

Calm down, beta formation, we retreat! Tommy ordered.

The Marines calmed down in the initial panic of encountering an unknown enemy, regrouped, retreated, and left here while shooting.

On their way back along the original route, Jenkins found a wound on Mendoza's back, and Mendoza's face was purple and he was in poor condition. Medic, medic! Jenkins yelled.

The team stopped in a room without monsters. Aurora quickly ran to Mendoza's side, What's going on?

Mendoza coughed violently and spat out a mouthful of red blood with a greenish tint.

When she saw the wound on the back of Mendoza's neck, she bent down and gave him a quick check, then stayed where she was. Although the wound was long, it was not too deep. She could see blue arcs radiating from the center of Mendoza's dark back muscles, but his spine was no longer prominent.

When a medical soldier like her can't see any bones in a patient's body - what a joyful scene this must be! But a trembling pustule quickly appeared on the lower part of the back, and finger-like tentacles were digging for something in the center of the open wound.

Aurora's lips trembled and she couldn't say a word. Oh my God, that thing looks like some kind of giant parasite. She reached out to touch it, but then stopped. Not here, more rotten meat will attack them at any time.

We need to get him out of this damn place! She put one of Mendoza's arms over his shoulders and wrapped the other around his waist to help Jakens bear some of the weight. Bring him back to the surface quickly, we have to get back to Alpha Base to heal him!

The situation was getting worse. Tommy nodded and led the team to the next room.

He walked through the door and found himself in a large, brightly lit room. It was filled with bipedal deformed creatures, but no one noticed his presence. He breathed a sigh of relief and thought it would be best to lead the team through here quietly, but another hunchbacked monster fell from the sky and rushed towards him.

Tommy dodged left and right, stepped back, turned around and punched the monster. It was smashed into pieces against the wall, leaving mottled gray-green stains and slime on the floor.

Tommy turned around and was about to greet the Marines behind him, but found that a red dot suddenly popped up on the motion detector - indicating that there was an enemy behind him. He turned around and was surprised to find that the twisted and severely injured monster was still struggling at his feet. Its left hand swayed limply, brittle bones protruding from the pale, rotting flesh.

The monster's right hand can still move normally. A bunch of twisted tentacles burst out from the right side of the creature's waist. His right hand was swinging wildly, and he could hear the sound of bones breaking from the inside.

Tentacles danced, whips whizzed, and Tommy fell to the floor with one blow. The energy shield exploded due to this attack, and the back of his head hit the ground with a loud bang. The severe pain and dizziness almost made him faint.

Colonel! the Marines shouted as they rushed in and fired back. The rain of bullets caused by the 7.62 mm caliber armor-piercing projectile almost tore the monster in half.

How are you? Rebecca rushed over and helped him up, looking anxious to see him through the helmet.

I'm okay. Tommy took a deep breath. Ellie had asked the armor to inject him with self-healing foam, but it still took him more than ten seconds to recover.

The monsters below were alarmed, and more disgusting, deformed creatures jumped out of the darkness and jumped forward. Not just running, but jumping out of arcs and leaping into the air, as if trying to crush them with their weight. Their swarms of rotting flesh and flailing limbs surged before the Marines.

Tommy gently shook Rebecca's hand, stood up quickly to adjust, and then blasted them one by one with his shotgun.

In the process, he discovered that these monsters would be destroyed by energy weapons, indicating that they were still carbon-based creatures and not something else. But the strange thing is that even the living monsters look like they are dead, and Tommy feels that they are indeed dead.

This explains why some of the ugly monsters look like Covenant elite warriors, or like you kill it, bury the body, and dig it up two weeks later, if you so choose.

The battles became extremely short, and sometimes they would break into a room and find scattered Covenant people being beaten to death by these humanoid monsters. The monsters pounced on the Grunts, and these Covenant people looked very cute now, and they were torn into pieces by these monsters while wailing.

Three minutes later, they arrived at the elevator where they came in. Tommy stood guard at the door and blasted the monsters that tried to follow. Rebecca rushed up and pressed the holographic panel that controlled the elevator.

The expected elevator did not arrive. Instead, there was a loud rumbling sound, and then the red-hot fragments of the elevator roared down and fell into the elevator shaft where the bottom could not be seen.

Oh, no, Cecilia muttered, shaking her head.
