Dominate South Asia

Chapter 668: Battle Formation Exercise

In a province in northwest China, the "Douzhen" land and air integrated exercise field.

Rick changed his position in the cockpit to a comfortable position, looking at the dark blue sky outside the cockpit, and carefully drove the fighter plane to fly low in the desert.

Rick thought about the last exercise. They carried supersonic anti-ship missiles, bypassed the escorting fighters, entered the range of 200 kilometers, and launched a huge Eagle Strike-91 missile, completely "destroying" the opponent's aircraft carrier. The retired old ship used as a target ship was sunk by one missile. When the ramjet Eagle Strike-91 was launched from the belly of the aircraft, the scene was really pleasing to the eye.

And this time, it is a new exercise. They will play the role of invaders again, and at the same time, abuse their Chinese counterparts as always.

According to the preset plot of the director's office: 16 fighters of the Chinese Air Force, including 8 J10A and 8 J8D, will play the role of defenders to defend against the invasion of Chinese airspace by 8 fighters led by Rick, including 4 F14E, 4 F16, and 1 EF-14G "Roaring Cat" will fly with the invading fighters, and the E-2C "Hawkeye" early warning aircraft and EC-130H "Compass Call" electronic jammers at an altitude of 100 meters, 100 kilometers away, will provide electronic support and command and coordination for the invading fighters. The defenders will be the Y-8 "Sky Eye" early warning aircraft and the Tu-154 electronic warfare aircraft.

In the mutual cooperation with Pakistan, China has also benefited a lot, such as the airborne radar system. With the reference of Pakistan's Tomcat fighters and F-16 fighters, the two sides worked together, and there were hard-working scientific and technological personnel like Bai Xue, and finally overcame the difficulty of the pulse Doppler radar of the flat slot antenna.

As a multiplier of air combat power, China has never given up its efforts to obtain early warning aircraft after the failure of the KJ-1 project. First, based on the Y-8, a radar was added to the nose of the aircraft. It is a flagship product from the British EMI company: a frequency-agile long-range surveillance radar using pulse compression technology, which can perform anti-submarine and anti-ship operations. This improved Y-8 aircraft is equipped with the navy and has become a maritime patrol aircraft with the function of an early warning aircraft. Due to the lack of processing capabilities for complex ground echoes, it can only be used at sea.

At the same time, China's technical cooperation with Pakistan continues, as Pakistan already has the E-2 early warning aircraft. The current focus is to overcome the difficulties of large strategic early warning aircraft, so the project is still progressing steadily. For China, which does not have an early warning aircraft now, it can't wait. Based on its own strength, it has temporarily developed an early warning aircraft for the Y-8 platform.

This is not the KJ-200 that uses an active phased array radar system in later generations, but a flat slot antenna and a pulse Doppler radar that needs to rotate. Now, this early warning aircraft is still under testing. It has begun to participate in various exercises.

The Tu-154 electronic warfare aircraft is the same as in history. In history, in 1995, China improved two three-engine Tu-154M passenger planes into electronic warfare air platforms. Multiple radar covers, antennas and electronic warfare equipment were added. Now, the time is advanced. In the exchange with the Pakistani Air Force, it is known that electronic warfare plays a vital role in air combat. China has started these explorations very early. Now the Tu-154 electronic warfare aircraft has been successfully modified and has been fully finalized and entered service in the army.

"Invader Squadron. I am Azazel. Turn on the data link and receive the data sent by Hawkeye 1. Do not use the pulse Doppler search mode. Use the OEPS optoelectronic detection device to search for the enemy. From now on, keep radio silence for the time being." Rick used the internal flight channel to give orders to the other 7 fighters.

After taking off from the airport, the "Invader" brigade led by Rick never activated the radar carried by the fighter. Instead, it remained silent, and the external detection of the fighter was changed to rely on the passive optoelectronic detection system to slowly enter the exercise area.

(PS: A complaint: After the Chinese Navy and Air Force were equipped with the Su-27SK, they almost regarded the hemispherical transparent shell on the nose of the aircraft as a sacred object, and surrounded Russia's OEPS optoelectronic detection system. The two countries continued to fight secretly until the first few years after entering the new century. China was still arguing with Russia over the introduction of the latest model of OEPS system. The US Navy and Air Force have been equipped with this thing for more than ten years. The early F14-A+ has already used the AN/ARL-1 optical television system with a detection range of 97 kilometers, and the F14D has already used the AN/ARL-23 with a detection range of more than 110 kilometers! It's just that the Americans regarded this thing as an ordinary avionics upgrade and did not publicize it as much as Russia did.)

And Muhammad introduced the F14 "Tomcat" fighter through various means, allowing China to now come into contact with the passive detection system of fighter jets at least ten years earlier.

As early as in the subsequent series of Tomcat fighter upgrade plans, the AIM-54 "Phoenix" missiles provided by the United States to Pakistan can be used through the ALR-23 infrared detection system in conjunction with the AGW-9 or AN/APG-71 radar linkage search to obtain data on the scheduled battlefield in advance. However, Pakistan handed over the OEPS photoelectric detection system samples and technical data of the MiG-29 and Su-27 seized from the Afghanistan War and the India-Pakistan War (that is, the hemisphere of the transparent shell on the nose of the Su-27 and MiG-29) to China for joint cracking and development, and sharing of technical achievements. Therefore, the infrared detection technology of the United States and the bear and the optical television technology for identifying targets were integrated. A world-leading fighter photoelectric detection system and the combined helmet display TK-2M used in conjunction with it were finally included in the standard equipment of Chinese and Pakistani fighters after 10 years of "sharpening a sword", and the R-73M "Super Archer" (Chinese imitation model PL-13) short-range infrared attack missile obtained through special channels became the "trump card" in the hands of the two countries' air forces!

Ten minutes later

"Azazel, the Defender has taken off from the airport and is expected to arrive at the exercise area in three minutes. Get ready." Hawkeye No. 1 broke the radio silence and issued instructions.

"Received, the Invaders are flying at ultra-low altitude. Call the compass for electronic support to block our electronic signals. Follow us." Rick gave instructions in an orderly manner.

Electric Cat No. 1 is the Roaring Cat, which is also a powerful weapon of the Pakistan Air Force. Moreover, the maneuverability of this thing is similar to that of the prototype Tomcat, and it can completely accompany the fleet in combat.

Four new Tomcats, four Falcons and one Electric Cat carefully flew slowly at a low altitude of 150 meters and a speed of 400 kilometers per hour over the desert. The five Tomcat fighters pulled the deformed wings to the minimum sweep angle of 20° like a peacock, waiting for the arrival of the "Defender".

Major Li Lu was driving the J10A, and in the bubble-shaped glass cockpit, he was happily watching the seven wingmen around him and the eight J8Ds flying at high altitude. The Y-8 "Sky Eye" early warning aircraft 200 kilometers behind reported the air situation and found no intruder fighters in the current airspace. A specially modified Tu-154 electronic warfare aircraft also reported that there were no hostile radar beams illuminating the fleet.

Although the Y-8 can already monitor targets on land and separate targets from complex echoes, it is still unable to effectively detect fighters flying at ultra-low altitudes in the distance due to the limited data processing capabilities in complex terrain processing. This is also a disadvantage of the Y-8. If you want to change, you can only develop a new early warning aircraft on a larger body platform and equip it with more electronic equipment. China has already chosen the Il-76 and wants to modify it on this basis.

Why hasn't Lao Ba's pilot arrived yet? It seems that the director's report was wrong? But it was almost like this every time. Although there was a plan before the exercise, the Pakistani pilots did not follow the plan every time, and they would break the routine and let the Chinese Air Force be abused.

Azazel, you are not the leader, are you? We still have a score to settle! Li Lu thought, but he dared not be careless.

Most of the Pakistani pilots flying Tomcat fighters were ace pilots who had experienced war. They often beat the Chinese "rookies" in the "Battle Array" exercise field. There was a Pakistani pilot nicknamed "Azazel" who was the most fierce. Many Chinese pilots would take a breath when they mentioned him, "Here comes the devil", and then their morale was lost, and then they were defeated.

The full "blood and tears history" made the Chinese naval aviation force want to cry but not cry. When someone planned to advise the Chinese Supreme Command to cancel the "Douzhen" training ground to save face, the firm Air Force "reformist" Admiral Wang Hai directly entered the "runaway state", reprimanding his subordinates for their incompetence and laziness, and believed that the rookies still needed to continue to increase the intensity and strength of training in subjects close to actual combat. As a result, the most painful period for the rookies came... Li Lu was also miserable at that time. He made up his mind to give the Pakistani pilot nicknamed "Azazel" a good look, for himself and for those predecessors who fell into his hands!

The lessons of the predecessors and his own cautious habits made Li Lu still require the "Sky Eye" in the rear to continuously monitor the suspicious airspace, the Tu-154 to be on standby for electronic jamming support at any time, and 4 J8Ds to stay to protect the early warning aircraft and electronic warfare aircraft.

"Azazel, the defender has arrived at the designated airspace" Hawkeye 1 sent air information again. (To be continued ~^~)
