Chapter 53 Tavern

"This is it. I remember it as a very good tavern." Desmond pointed to a tavern and said.

He led a few people to an alley on the waist of the Visenya Hills near the sea. The stench here almost disappeared due to the sea breeze. It was a good place to eat.

The decoration of the store looked good. From the outside, you could see that the tavern had a wide view. Sitting inside, you could see Blackwater Bay and the huge Red Castle in the distance.

Arthur nodded, took the lead and walked in, and sat down at the few remaining empty tables.

"Boss, what food do you have today?"

A little girl wearing a beige linen thin coat and a few freckles on her face ran over and repeatedly introduced the special food of her store to Arthur and others, and emphasized the homemade rice wine in the store.

She looked about fourteen or fifteen years old. Although she looked immature, she was already very skilled in dealing with customers.

"Then give me a large grilled steak, two roasted pigeons, two pieces of bread, and a small barrel of rice wine. Let these gentlemen and the gentlemen at that table order by themselves."

According to the eating habits of Westeros close to the Renaissance, there are basically no other methods except boiling, roasting, and stewing.

And the way of stewing a large group of ingredients in one pot made Arthur lose his appetite.

Only grilled steak and grilled lamb chops could make him want to start cooking.

"Okay!" The little girl smiled sweetly, bowed to Arthur, and then turned to record the food ordered by others.

After all, she was a person in King's Landing, and she could bow to the noble customers when ordering a meal.

Thinking of the villagers in his territory who would only smile foolishly when they saw him, Arthur's impression of this little girl suddenly improved.

He took out four or five copper coins and stuffed them into the little girl's hand after she finished recording the food of everyone in the group.

The little girl was very smart. Seeing that her parents were not looking at this side, she hurriedly stuffed the copper coins in her hand into her trouser pocket.

And winked at Arthur playfully, turned and left.

It was dinner time, and there were many people in the tavern.

Arthur and the others followed the trend and chatted with people from all over the world.

"Hey, I think King Robert will definitely win the group battle. Not to mention his natural strength, who dares to fight the king?"

"That's not necessarily true. He is so fat that he can't wear his plate armor. Can he still fight?"

Due to Robert's extremely relaxed rule, civilians and wandering knights in the streets and alleys can talk about their king.

There are even people with strong competitive spirit. After recording which female worker in the technical academy Robert had slept with, they also ran to be a fellow traveler with the king.

And ask whether you are taller or the king is taller.

This length is not only physical, but also time.

In this atmosphere, knights and small nobles relish talking about some of the king's private affairs and get a certain sense of pleasure from it.

Arthur was not interested in this. He took the initiative to start a conversation: "Who do you think will be the champion of the lance competition?"

After all, this is what he should care about. The lance champion will receive a reward of 40,000 gold dragons. If he gets this, he will have achieved most of his purpose of coming to King's Landing.

If he can get in touch with a big family in the South, it will be even better if he can get thousands of sets of armor.

After hearing this, the customers in the same room expressed their opinions.

"It must be Loras the Knight of Flowers. Last time he shot down the Kingslayer with one shot, and he stole the limelight."

Loras Tyrell is the third son of the Duke of Mace, the guardian of the South. He is named the Knight of Flowers because he likes to put a vest full of flowers on his mount.

"It's true! The Flowers can't even beat the Hound, how can it beat the two fierce men of the Clegane family?"

The Hound is the younger brother of the Mountain, named Sandor Clegane.

After the Mountain was knighted by Prince Rhaegar, the Hound rode his horse to Casterly Rock overnight and swore to serve the Lannisters.

This behavior is very similar to a sworn knight, but because his brother the Mountain became a knight, the Hound looked down on this title, so he is a sworn warrior of the Lion's House.

Currently, the Hound is under the instruction of Queen Cersei to serve as a squire for King Joffrey the Great, who is still a prince.

Later, Barristan, the captain of the Kingsguard, was fired by Joffrey, and the Hound was recruited into the Kingsguard. He also became the first person in the history of Westeros to serve as a Kingsguard without being a knight.

"I'm more optimistic about the Mountain."

"Speaking of which, the Kingslayer is still capable of fighting."

"Why don't you mention the useless Barristan? He is an old master who has been in power for decades without a single defeat."

Someone immediately opposed this view: "Bullshit, I can count Barristan's failures on one hand, and he is already too old."

"This just shows that he is experienced."

"You didn't mention Beric Dondarrion, who is also a master."

"Don't talk nonsense, does Beric have any well-known achievements? Among the Hundred Flowers, the Hound, the Kingslayer, and the Mountain, who can he beat?"

The most active customers held different opinions and could not convince each other.

They quarreled as if these people were their relatives and friends.

But in fact, these top knights in Westeros may never have any intersection with them in their lives.

As the food was served, the argument gradually subsided.

The aroma of wine and meat showed their presence wantonly in the entire tavern, making Arthur's stomach sing.

Fortunately, the little girl served the food in time, and Arthur picked up a fat pigeon and started eating it.

"Hey, what are you doing?" the little girl suddenly shouted.

Arthur glanced at her and saw that she was standing in front of a drunk young nobleman, and it seemed that they had physical contact.

The tavern owner and his wife immediately ran out, asked the little girl to apologize first, and then smiled and said they would give her a bucket of rice wine for free.

The little girl got angry and shook off her parents' hands and prepared to run into the kitchen.

Arthur ignored this little episode. This is King's Landing, where the law and order is the best in the entire continent. Even the nobles of the earl level from other places dare not bully the common people at will.

Because the common people in King's Landing can be regarded as the king's direct subjects, with Robert's face, the nobles will be a little restrained.

Arthur quickly finished eating the pigeon and picked up the steak to cook.

Seeing Arthur eating so ungentlemanly, Patrick gently reminded him: "Be more elegant! It doesn't match your image of a handsome man."

The Lord of the Red Mill ignored him and finished his steak, which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and then took a sip of rice wine.

The rice wine was surprisingly good. He burped comfortably and said to Patrick: "It's because I'm handsome that I don't need to pay attention to my image. People like you who are ugly can only rely on elegant behavior to support it."

Just when he was about to eat another pigeon, an accident happened.

"Let me go, I don't want to apologize to them."
