Dragon's Origin
#1439 - The Death of Master Qian (Part 2)
Wang Sheng's current state was truly miserable. His protective suit was almost entirely torn, resembling a beggar's outfit, even more exaggerated than a sniper's ghillie suit on Earth.
The wound on his knee, whether torn open by excessive force or struck by someone, was originally just a small opening from a bone fragment, but now it was a gash over two inches long, with the white bone faintly visible. He couldn't lift the leg anymore, dragging it along.
His face was covered in blood, with two gashes on his head. One above his forehead, clearly from a blunt instrument. Fortunately, Wang Sheng had a hard skull, or it would have been more than just bleeding. Another cut above his left eyebrow, likely from a fist, also bleeding, causing his entire left eye to swell shut.
There were bloodstains around his mouth, indicating he had vomited blood more than once. His left arm was completely useless, already fractured before. Luckily, the two broken bone fragments were still connected, not misaligned. But now it just hung there, unable to exert any force.
There was a bloody gash on his abdomen, which had stopped bleeding. Elsewhere, out of sight, he had a fractured sternum, at least three broken ribs, and none of his internal organs were in good condition, all suffering internal injuries from the impacts.
His entire right hand seemed to be soaked in blood, and the tiger-tooth military knife in his hand was completely crimson. This knife had drunk the blood of dozens of experts today, and at first glance, its murderous aura seemed to penetrate the outer blood film.
Wang Sheng looked like he was so weak he could barely move, yet he was still slowly shuffling along. If people from Earth saw this, they would definitely think Wang Sheng was a zombie, otherwise, how could he continue to carry someone on his back in such a state?
Most impressively, even though Wang Sheng was injured so badly, Lin Ling on his back was completely unharmed. Almost all the attacks were taken head-on by Wang Sheng, who would rather be injured himself than allow Lin Ling to be forced to use her combat instincts.
Anyone could imagine how much energy it would take for Lin Ling to fight a legendary expert in such a weakened state. If Lin Ling, who was already extremely weak, had to do that a few more times, she probably would never open her eyes again.
When Wang Sheng turned out from behind a large tree and saw Grandmaster Qian leaning against it, Wang Sheng seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
It wasn't that Wang Sheng had to kill everyone, nor was he afraid that Grandmaster Qian would reveal his whereabouts. If he really wanted to reveal them, the initial series of explosions, and the several explosions Wang Sheng created himself, would be enough to attract many experts to this area. Wang Sheng had to see Grandmaster Qian because Wang Sheng needed to know about A'Qi's situation.
That stubborn, silly girl would rather die with Wang Sheng than leave alone. Wang Sheng wasn't made of wood or stone, how could he be unfeeling?
Among the experts chasing Wang Sheng, one was missing, Wang Sheng remembered this very clearly. Wang Sheng could fully imagine what the missing expert was doing: chasing A'Qi. Although A'Qi relied on her familiarity with the terrain in the Thousand Absolutes Ground and her rich experience, facing the pursuit of a ninth-level expert would likely end badly.
However, Wang Sheng still had a little hope. He himself had been chased by a ninth-level expert in the Thousand Absolutes Ground and survived. If A'Qi had the same luck and strength, she might survive as well. To know A'Qi's fate, he probably could only find out through Grandmaster Qian.
The various factions' fear of Wang Sheng had probably escalated to a terrifying level. Wang Sheng had been out of the core of the Thousand Absolutes Ground for so long and had traveled such a long distance, yet he hadn't encountered Wang Sheng's trump card in the Thousand Absolutes Ground, those massive man-eating ant colonies.
This could only mean that before Wang Sheng left, those man-eating ant colonies had been either eliminated or besieged by various families using unknown methods, completely leaving Wang Sheng without any exploitable advantages. It wasn't difficult to do this. Legendary experts didn't need to worry about the attacks of man-eating ants. A few simple formations could easily trap the man-eating ant army. Once trapped in the formation, a single fire would completely wipe out those terrifying man-eating ants.
Grandmaster Qian's condition looked much better than Wang Sheng's. His biggest injury was his left leg being blown off from the middle of his thigh. Impaired mobility was certain, without a doubt. Another issue was excessive blood loss. The femoral artery was directly severed, causing Grandmaster Qian to lose at least half of the blood in his body. If Grandmaster Qian hadn't been a legendary expert, and hadn't carried a lot of elixirs with him, Grandmaster Qian would probably be unconscious instead of awake.
Even so, Grandmaster Qian was more than capable of dealing with Wang Sheng, who was a hundred times more battered than himself, so Grandmaster Qian wasn't worried about Wang Sheng at all. Wang Sheng couldn't even cock his heavy sniper crossbow now, and probably wouldn't even be able to stand for long. What was there to worry about? If Wang Sheng insisted on struggling to reach Grandmaster Qian, Grandmaster Qian wouldn't mind personally sending Wang Sheng on his way.
Wang Sheng was indeed not that stupid. He shuffled forward a few steps and leaned against a crooked-neck tree to rest. Lin Ling on his back wasn't disturbed at all. Grandmaster Qian, watching this scene, became even more convinced that this woman's identity was extraordinary.
Strangely, there was a broken tree stump in front of Wang Sheng, left over from when Wang Sheng had fought those Exquisite Pavilion experts. Its height was about chest-high for Wang Sheng now. When Wang Sheng leaned against it, the thick tree stump blocked him, so even if Grandmaster Qian had any hidden weapons, he might not be able to hit Wang Sheng directly.
"If I had known this would happen, I would have kept another heavy sniper crossbow," Grandmaster Qian muttered to himself, watching this scene. With a well-cocked heavy sniper crossbow, Wang Sheng would definitely be dead now. Unfortunately, there wasn't one.
"Where's A'Qi?" Wang Sheng called out, panting, his voice lacking the composure and calmness from before, and the volume was pitifully low, but Grandmaster Qian could still hear it.
"Don't know." A'Qi wasn't worthy of Grandmaster Qian, the legendary-level Pavilion Master of the Exquisite Pavilion, paying attention to: "Just sent the one with the worst cultivation to chase her, there's no result yet."
"Then you can die." Wang Sheng seemed to have expected this answer. He took a breath and shouted at Grandmaster Qian.
"You can still use your heavy sniper crossbow?" Grandmaster Qian's expression changed, then relaxed. Wang Sheng wanted to trick him like this? Did he think he was too simple?
"I can kill you without the heavy sniper crossbow," Wang Sheng shouted at Grandmaster Qian, enduring the abdominal cramps.
"I'd like to see how you can kill me without the heavy sniper crossbow!" Grandmaster Qian sneered: "Relying on those bugs?"
As soon as he said this, Grandmaster Qian noticed that on the tree stump in front of Wang Sheng, a strange tube-like object suddenly appeared, with the opening facing this way.
