Dragon's Origin

#403 - The Mantis Catches the Cicada (Part 2)

Everyone greedily eyed the jade box, their minds filled with different thoughts.

Flying Fox also stared at the jade box, but he was thinking more and seeing more. Besides the jade box, he wanted to find the pill formula or something, but he couldn't see anything from where he was standing at the entrance. Judging from the size of the jade box, even with the array to maintain the medicinal effect, there would only be a maximum of three divine pills inside.

Three divine pills could save at most three people, but if he had the pill formula, wouldn't he be able to make a greater contribution? Flying Fox's gaze had already swept across all the areas visible from the entrance, but unfortunately, he couldn't see anything else. This stone cave was very large, maybe there was more space inside, maybe the pill formula was hidden inside.

Thinking about it, it was normal. The earth fire vein was over there, so the pill formula and such must be kept away from the earth fire vein to avoid being burned, right? Thinking like this, Flying Fox's heart was filled with anticipation. What kind of reward would he get this time if he brought the pill formula and divine pills back? What if he took the pill formula and divine pills and flew away?

Seeing that the exhaust fumes were almost gone and everyone had rested enough, Flying Fox immediately perked up and ordered everyone to break the array again.

Boom, after another loud noise that shook the entire space, the protective array in front of the stone cave door cracked open again. This time, Flying Fox's figure shot into the stone cave like an arrow from a bow. The array quickly closed behind him.

As Flying Fox expected, once the door was broken open, the inside was almost undefended. Thinking about it, it made sense. The array that maintained the medicinal effect of the pills already occupied a lot of space, so wouldn't it be redundant to set up any protective arrays?

For that alchemy sect, if the enemy had already reached this point, would it make a difference whether the things inside were protected or not? If they had to set up an array, it should be a destruction array, not a protective array.

But, would a group of highly skilled alchemists be willing to have the pill formula they had researched all their lives destroyed? Would they be willing to have the perfect work they had spent their entire lives collecting materials for and exhausting their efforts to refine destroyed? Obviously, the answer was no.

As soon as Flying Fox rushed in, he saw a shelf of animal skin scrolls neatly arranged after turning a corner. This shelf was also protected by an array, but it was not a protective array, but an array to protect those scrolls from being eroded by time and destroyed by the high heat of the earth fire vein.

As expected, Flying Fox smiled as he looked at the dozens of animal skin scrolls on this shelf. He stepped forward and touched the array slightly, and after confirming that there were no traps, he quickly took the scrolls off the shelf. Without even checking them, he put them all into his storage ring.

Because there were too many scrolls and Flying Fox's storage ring was too small, he had to use two storage rings to store all these scrolls.

After putting away the scrolls, Flying Fox turned to the floating jade box. This array was very magical, it seemed that the array on the ground could echo the array on the box, allowing the box to float in the air.

Flying Fox's hand had reached not far from the box, and was moving up and down with the rhythm of the box's floating. Suddenly, Flying Fox's hand flashed out like lightning, and quickly took the jade box from the array. The array below suddenly lost the echo of the array on the box above, and instantly seemed to have lost some important core. The patterns below flickered a few times, and then became extremely dim.

Gesturing to the people outside, Flying Fox put the jade box into the storage ring, and then waited intently for the array to be broken again, and then rushed out.

The people outside actually saw Flying Fox's action of putting away the jade box. Under the command of the array mage, they rested for a while and activated the array stone again.

Accompanied by the rumbling sound of the array being broken, Flying Fox's figure swooshed out of the stone cave. However, before he could stand firm, at least four swords attacked Flying Fox. Among the four array mages, two of them suddenly activated an array, binding everyone in it.

Flying Fox was indeed Flying Fox, the one with the highest cultivation among this group of people. He seemed to have expected this sudden attack. The short stick in his hand clanged and deflected three weapons in a row. The last stick, however, hit the guard closest to him solidly.

"I knew you had problems a long time ago." The guard who was hit made a sound of bones breaking, along with Flying Fox's cold words.

As soon as the fight started here, the guards who were stunned by this scene suddenly reacted and immediately took out their weapons and attacked the three guards and two array mages who had attacked. Flying Fox was besieged, obviously these people were the enemy.

"Your people?" Wang Sheng and the female owner were watching from afar on the opposite side of the lava lake. Wang Sheng didn't seem surprised at all by this scene, he just asked calmly.

"Yes." The female owner's tone was slightly apologetic. These were some of her only trump cards, and she hadn't even told Wang Sheng everything. This slight concealment was the reason for her guilt.

"What a pity!" Wang Sheng made no secret of the regret in his tone, sighing with emotion.

"Why?" The female owner asked in confusion. Wasn't this the right time to launch the attack? Everyone else was exhausted from activating the array stone, and Flying Fox had just gotten the thing and was excited and didn't expect anyone to attack, wasn't it the most suitable time to attack?

"You didn't even confirm whether the thing Flying Fox got was right before you rashly attacked." Wang Sheng shook his head and said his reason: "Your people concealed their cultivation, does that mean that Flying Fox's displayed cultivation is his true cultivation?"

The people who attacked were a few ordinary guards, with cultivation below the fifth level. But the aggressiveness they showed at this moment was at least at the sixth level. The problem was that Flying Fox and another expert showed a realm that was far more than just the seventh level.

The six people who attacked only lasted for less than ten minutes before they were killed by Flying Fox and the others. The female owner watched from afar, but could only watch in vain, helpless, and tears were about to flow down.

"Do you have a way? Is there a way?" The female owner grabbed Wang Sheng's hand anxiously and kept asking. The loyal subordinates she had worked so hard to gather were being slaughtered over there, but she had no way to help. This feeling really made the female owner despair.

Wang Sheng just shook his head, he had no way either. At such a long distance, a sniper rifle could deal with some ordinary guards, but it was useless against an expert like Flying Fox.

Flying Fox was already laughing triumphantly over there. The goal of this trip had been achieved, and he had even cleaned up a few traitors in the team, it couldn't be more perfect. As long as they left and sealed Wang Sheng and the female owner in the underground palace, they would only be suffocated to death.

Just as Flying Fox was complacent, an unexpected change occurred.
