Zhao Youlin’s jolly mood in the early morning had been ruined by the unexpected guests. She immediately brought Joy home.

“Mommy…” The moment they reached home and placed down the things, Joy tugged on Zhao Youlin’s sleeves.

Just then, Zhao Youlin was packing things. When Joy called out, she thought something had happened, so she turned her head and asked, “Joy, what’s the matter?”

Joy did not say anything. He cried, pointing at Zhao Youlin’s arm.

Zhao Youlin followed the direction he pointed, only to realize the red marks as a result of the scratches from the bodyguards had turned into bruises by the time they arrived home.

“Mommy, are they painful?” Joy stared at Zhao Youlin’s arms. His eyes teared up as if Zhao Youlin’s bruises were his instead.

Zhao Youlin froze. The moment she saw Joy’s concerned look for her, her heart softened. There was a saying that a daughter would always be there for their parents, as opposed to a son. However, be it sons or daughters, they were equal.

At that moment, Zhao Youlin could not thank God enough for giving her a chance to be reborn and thus pairing her with an adoring precious son.

Within the blink of an eye, the tears welled up in Joy’s eyes and dropped on Zhao Youlin’s hand. It instantly snapped her out of a daze.

Zhao Youlin immediately squatted. She reached out to wipe away Joy’s tears and said, “Joy, be a good boy. Don’t cry. Listen to me.”

Joy choked. He stopped shedding tears. But his tears still welled up in his eyes. He said mournfully, “Mommy… painful…”

“I’m not in pain. Joy, you’re a good boy. Listen to me, you’re a boy, a man in the future. You can’t simply cry, okay?” Zhao Youlin gently instilled reasoning into Joy. She did not want her son to be as weak as his original mother who was often bullied by others.

Although Joy did not quite understand what Zhao Youlin said, he held back his tears.

After a moment of silence, he abruptly tilted his head, and said to Zhao Youlin firmly, “I won’t cry. I want to be a man, and I will protect you in the future.”

Meanwhile, Joy remembered the bruises on her arms. He held her arms and was reluctant to let go of them. He cried pitifully, “Mommy, painful…”

Zhao Youlin smiled. She stretched her hand out at Joy and said, “Joy, if you blow on them for me, I won’t feel the pain anymore.”

Joy’s eyes sparkled. He pursed his lips and blew at the bruises on Zhao Youlin’s arms. He blew hard so that the bruises on his mother’s arms would fade soon.
