Flowers, Swords and France

Chapter 56: Awakening

When Ciel was woken up from his sleep, it was already early in the morning.

To be fair, he hasn't been sleeping particularly well recently because he has been worried a lot. Because of this, when the door was knocked so hard that he woke up, he felt an indescribable anger.

"Who? What's going on! You're knocking on the door so late!" He asked in a rough voice with a vague sense of weariness.

"Master, I have something important to report to you." A low voice responded from outside the door.

Judging from the voice, it was Grandpa's personal servant. The rare dignified attitude of this servant slowly brought Charles back to consciousness from the quagmire of sleepiness.

That's right, how dare they do this if there is nothing important. Ciel thought.

"I understand, just wait a minute." His voice softened a lot, and then he quickly jumped up from the bed and put on his clothes.

When he got dressed and opened the door again, he found that the other party was still standing at the door.

"What's going on?" he asked in a low voice.

"A man ran over and said that his name was Kong Ze and that he was one of your subordinates." The other party replied respectfully, while looking at Charles inquiringly. "Well, yes, there is such a person." Charles nodded, "But it's so late, did he say anything to ask me for?"

The servant hesitated for a moment before answering in a low voice.

"He said he met the master today."

"Huh? He met my grandpa? When? Where? Isn't grandpa resting at home?" Charles asked with some confusion. "Besides, there's no need to wake me up for this kind of thing, right?"

"Uh... this..." The servant hesitated again, and finally seemed to make up his mind.

"He is talking about your father, Master."

Until there was silence for several seconds. Ciel just reacted.

"What?!"

Then he reached up and covered his mouth. "Take me there quickly. Does grandpa know about this now?"

"He is still sleeping, so I ran over to you, sir." The servant bowed deeply, "I thought about it. It would be better for you to understand the situation first before telling the master. …”

"Well done, well done." Charles stretched out his hand and patted the other party's shoulder.

Then, the two of them walked to the reception room together.

Then, Charles saw Kong Ze, who was still sitting on the chair with an expressionless expression. "Tell me what happened." Charles waved his hand, stopping the other party from standing up and saluting. “Be concise and to the point, and take your time.”

"Okay, sir, I'll try my best." Kong Ze nodded and continued. "You previously ordered me to cooperate with your aunt, Miss De Noderion, so I have been helping him find someone. As a result, we found someone, and tonight, we ran to his residence together..."

"You mean, the person she is looking for is mine..." Ciel took a moment to allow himself to say the word, "Father?"

"At least that person claimed to be Mr. Edgar de Noderion." Kongze lowered his gaze. He said he didn't want to ask anything, he just wanted to state the facts.

Years of experience in society have already made him understand the richer the family. It makes sense that the more ulterior secrets and secrets there are, the less you ask about them, the longer you can live.

As long as he performs this feat honestly, that's all.

At this time, Ciel's mood fell to the bottom.

He finally understood what he had been vaguely worried about.

His "father" disappeared eighteen years ago. Agnes disappeared suddenly ten years ago and then returned suddenly ten years later. Then I need to find someone...all the facts finally connected together in my mind. So much so that it made Charles wonder why he didn't think about it earlier - maybe he didn't dare to think about it subconsciously? Because he might become an enemy of his aunt?

But no matter what, we have to face it now.

"What happened after that?" He asked in a low voice with a sense of luck, but his tone was already very dry.

"After that..." He turned his gaze and looked at the servant next to him.

"It doesn't matter, he can know."

"They had a conflict, a very violent conflict..." Kong Ze's eyes were still on the ground, "The gentleman was seriously injured, but fortunately I rescued him."

"Really..." Ciel opened his mouth slightly.

It seems that things have become obvious, and all luck factors no longer exist.

"Sir, just because he claimed to be...well, someone from your house, I had to pay attention to this matter, so I took him away to a place where your aunt can't be found for the time being." Kong Ze waited for Charles to recover from his absent-minded state before speaking again, "I came here just to ask you for instructions. What should I do?"

Ciel bit his lip while the other two looked at him.

After a while, he finally regained his composure from the panic.

"Take me to him first. I want to confirm it carefully." Then he turned to look at the old servant and said, "You can come with me too."

"I understand, Master." The servant immediately bowed.

Although he was still calm on the surface, he was actually feeling slightly sour in his heart - because he knew what the young master was thinking about.

After almost 20 years of separation, the young master could no longer recognize his father by himself.

………………

Because it was already early in the morning, the carriage was urged to go faster, but Charles's anxious heart made him feel that it was still not fast enough, and he urged the driver to speed up several times. This rare loss of calm also made Kong Ze, who was standing next to him, secretly shocked. He suddenly felt that he knew too much.

Fortunately, just when the three people were thinking about their own things, the carriage finally arrived at the secret place designated by Kong Ze.

As soon as he got off the car, Charles walked in with the servants regardless of anything, and then walked to the third floor under the guidance of Kong Ze.

Then, Kong Ze opened the door of a bedroom.

This bedroom was very simply decorated, with no furnishings and furniture, but it was still very clean, and it was obviously cleaned from time to time. And Charles saw a person lying on the white sheets.

The original text is in Liu # 9 @book/bar!

This man looked grey and dirty, with mud all over his face and body. He looked very embarrassed. And he had fallen into a deep sleep.

His coat seemed to have been taken off, and there were bandages on his hands and bare shoulders. Obviously, he had been seriously injured before.

Even so, this man still looked quite handsome, or in other words, he looked a bit like Charles.

"When I rescued him, he had been seriously injured, especially the shoulder was shot. I had a hard time bringing him here." Kong Ze explained in a low voice, "After bringing him here, I immediately called a doctor who could keep secrets, treated him carefully, and removed the bullet. He is still resting now."

Charles looked at the servant next to him and made a gesture.

The old servant understood and immediately came forward, walked to the bedside, and observed carefully.

Charles watched the servant's checking motionlessly, as if he was expecting something unexpected.

However, after the servant checked for a while and looked at his face and body carefully, he raised his head and nodded to Charles tremblingly.

"Master, my God, this... this is really the master!"

Well, this old servant has been with my grandfather for decades, and if he says it is right, then it must be right.

This middle-aged man lying on the bed seems to be Edgar de Treville, his long-lost "father".

Damn, it's really a ghost.

At this moment, Charles only had such a curse flashing through his mind.

He was not excited, not excited at all.

Looking at the "father" lying on the bed with bruises all over his body, he did not have any sympathy or sadness in his heart, and he did not even feel excessive about Agnes's behavior-because he knew the reason for all this.

Although in theory, this person gave life to his body, whether in practice or in ethics, he should be regarded as his "father", but he could not have any such feeling.

Yes, because as a time traveler, he did not think that this stranger was his relative. After spending more than 20 years with his grandfather and sister, he could regard them as relatives and was willing to do anything for them, but he had no such feelings for Mr. Edgar de Treville.

Maybe it was his cold nature, maybe it was selfishness, but he just didn't regard him as a father. Not to mention, since he learned that the other party had killed his wife - although it was an accident - he chose to escape, which made Charles abandon the last bit of respect for this person in his heart.

Not only was he not excited now, he was a little confused and even angry.

Since he had disappeared for so long, why did he come back? Why did he disturb everyone's peace!

Because they were immersed in this thought, the other two dared to stand and dared not say a word, for fear of angering the young master.

After this depressed thought lasted for a while, he finally spoke out to break this terrible depression.

"Is he resting now? How long has he been unconscious?"

"He was resting before I left, probably two or three hours." Kong Ze quickly answered, "He was injured and frightened, so he fell asleep easily."

"Wake him up for me." Charles' face was expressionless.

"Master, the master is injured now. It might be bad for his health if he is woken up..." A hesitant question came from the side.

"Wake him up for me!" Charles repeated again, and the stern tone almost made the two of them shiver.

"Yes." The servant nodded, then shook the middle-aged man's body, shaking it harder and harder.

Finally, with a groan, the middle-aged man opened his eyes again.
