Game of Thrones: I Created the Magic Web
#225 - The Crow's Eye
“The 'Silence' is still useful, don't sink it.” Joffrey said casually.
“Yes, Your Majesty.” During this voyage, Theon Greyjoy had the honor of relaying orders for the King.
Although it seemed like the work of a servant, Theon had no complaints.
In a sense, this was a rare opportunity.
Mentally diving into the light screen, Theon selected dozens of warships on the battle map that were under orders to fire, and transmitted King Joffrey's instructions to them all at once.
The warships indicated their obedience almost simultaneously.
In the next instant, the firing angles of all the cannons shifted.
The 'Silence' thus became the eye of the storm, stable in itself, but surrounded by a violent vortex, tearing anything caught in it to pieces and sinking it into the sea.
Without a doubt, there were no twists or turns in this battle.
Theon's attention returned to the map.
With just a glance at the colors and labels on the map, the entire battlefield was immediately clear.
Against the deep blue background, there were dozens of green islands and reefs. On the sea between Green Shield Island and Grey Shield Island, Uncle Euron's 'Silence' was marked as a striking bright red arrow.
The other Ironborn ships were all black arrows, still flashing, but quickly dimming and disappearing, merging into the deep blue color.
Longships were dying.
Like graffiti being erased, small and humble.
Even the King's warships were just inconspicuous white arrows on the map.
But Theon knew very well that each arrow represented a powerful, epoch-making warship, capable of capturing and defending an island.
Hundreds of white arrows, if scattered, could even conquer all the seas of the known world!
Unfortunately, none of this belonged to him.
Three hundred warships, and the dozens of ships of the Shield Islands, had nothing to do with Theon himself. But to be able to participate in this naval battle, even to coordinate command, was already a great opportunity and training.
Theon stared at the map with regret and excitement.
One hundred and twenty white arrows were lined up in the sea south of South Shield Island, at the southernmost edge.
Further north.
Sixty were sandwiched between South Shield Island and Grey Shield Island.
Grey Shield Island and Green Shield Island, and north of Green Shield Island, these two sea areas also had a full-strength fleet of sixty ships deployed.
The Shield Islands fleet from the east was rushing towards this side from the sea in the middle of the four islands.
Theon could see the information of each fleet.
The one hundred and eighty ships at the southernmost edge were the Arbor fleet under the Royal Fleet, three full-strength squadrons.
The commander of the First Squadron was Horas Redwyne, the eldest son and heir of Lord Paxter Redwyne. He commanded sixty warships loaded with cannons and holy warriors, responsible for blockading the sea south of South Shield Island.
The commander of the Second Squadron was Hobber Redwyne, Horas's twin brother. He had a similar fleet and the same mission as his brother.
The Third Squadron was much stranger. It was actually that ugly woman, Brienne Tarth!
Theon couldn't accept it from the bottom of his heart.
How could it be her?
Yes, her father was Lord Selwyn Tarth of Evenfall Hall, of noble birth.
Yes, she grew up on Tarth and spent a lot of time in Storm's End, so she was no stranger to sailing and fleets.
Yes, she became a Kingsguard, qualified to be the King's representative.
But after all, she was just a woman, and a woman who was so ugly that she couldn't arouse any interest at all! How could a woman stand on the deck and command a warship!?
But his opinion obviously could not sway the King.
And Theon was just thinking about it in his heart, and never said it out loud.
But he also knew that he was definitely not the only one. At least, the Redwyne twins definitely hated this 'beauty' Brienne more than himself. After all, the 'beauty' commanded the subordinates who once belonged exclusively to their family.
Although the entire Redwyne fleet has now been incorporated into the Royal Fleet and renamed the 'Arbor Fleet'.
But the imprint left by the past history will not disappear without a trace in an instant.
People have not forgotten that this fleet was the precious foundation that the Redwyne family painstakingly built and passed down through generations. Sailors have even served Arbor for generations.
The King was not completely unsympathetic either.
In addition to the three squadrons going north, the incomplete Fourth Squadron remained on Arbor, responsible for the defense of Arbor.
Its commanders, captains and other officers were basically nominated by the Redwyne family, and the King gladly issued appointments.
Seeing all this, Theon couldn't help but think about the future of the Iron Islands. Would it be like Arbor, being granted a fief, or like the Shield Islands, surrendering, or would the ending be similar to that of Cape Wrath?
“Tighten the encirclement.” The King said.
Theon came back to his senses and quickly conveyed His Majesty's instructions to the fleets.
Then he immediately realized: the only target in the encirclement was the bright red arrow of the 'Silence', and the other longships had melted away!
The short battle was coming to an end.
Theon raised his head and looked towards the sea area where the cannons were pointing. The sky was dim and dark, a blur, and he couldn't tell what it looked like at all.
Broken planks floating with the waves? Corpses bobbing up and down? Desperate Ironborn struggling in the water?
Probably all of them.
Thinking of this, Theon's mood became even more complicated and unspeakable.
The Iron Islands, which he hadn't seen in nearly ten years, his cold and tenacious compatriots, the longships he dreamed of flying like the wind and swimming like fish, were now being smashed to pieces not far in front of him.
And the evil uncle 'Crow's Eye' Euron. Once, how much did Theon of the Iron Islands admire such a mighty plunderer.
However, this plunderer has proclaimed himself 'Iron King' and is about to be terminated.
Theon could see clearly. The white arrows on the map all moved, shrinking towards the middle bit by bit. The Shield Islands fleet from the east also rushed over, filling the loosest gap in the net.
It was as if a fisherman was reeling in his net.
The prey was fierce, but this fishing net was countless times more powerful than any other.
The four islands were natural barriers.
The three squadrons of the Arbor fleet blocked the southwestern gap.
In the northwest direction were the Third and Fourth Squadrons of the King's Landing Fleet under the Royal Fleet, commanded by Earl Munford Velaryon and Earl Gunther Sunglass respectively.
The Shield Islands fleet in the east was quite weak.
Barely making up a full-strength squadron, it was divided into four squadrons, led by the four major families of the Shield Islands respectively.
It seemed easiest to break through the net from the east.
But don't forget that the east is the wider, drier continent of Westeros. Sea monsters in the saltwater sea have no power on land.
The fishing net tightened little by little, tighter and tighter.
The light emitted by the vanguard warships had already illuminated the target.
The hull was dark red, as if covered with blood, over and over again, and after the previous round of blood had dried and solidified, a new round of red paint was applied.
Two girls were tied to the bow, one white and one black.
The golden sea monster tattooed on the black sails made Theon Greyjoy's heart flutter.
The fishing net had touched the prey.
The bloody 'Silence' remained motionless, and the mute crew members on it just watched quietly, as if they had completely given up struggling.
Theon looked at the map and couldn't help but deeply mourn for his uncle 'Crow's Eye'.
Joffrey walked to the port side.
Holding the white iron railing, he looked down at the deep, surging sea: “Crow's Eye…”
