Green Monster Epic
#11 - Give in
By the time Regis's rage subsided and he entered a dormant state, three hobgoblin warriors had been cut down, losing their lives. Another two warriors had certain parts lopped off, and they clutched their wounds, howling and temporarily out of combat.
The humans naturally suffered losses as well. Seven warriors who had charged to the front lines had sustained injuries to varying degrees. Two of them were seriously wounded, and they were struggling to fight under the cover of their comrades. The fact that half of their bodies were soaked in blood spoke for itself; if the bleeding couldn't be stopped in time, they would likely die from blood loss.
Especially near the human merchant caravan, nearly ten hobgoblin warriors had reached the first carriage. They were entangled with the four remaining mercenaries and the caravan's staff. Although there were no casualties yet, the somewhat experienced hobgoblins had already smashed one of the wheels of the first carriage, rendering it immobile for the time being.
"Retreat!"
Without the boost from his rage, Regis's combat power was almost the same as Allen's, and he was even slightly inferior in terms of pure strength. Seeing the chaos erupting behind him in the merchant caravan and his companions unable to hold on much longer, Regis decisively issued the order to retreat.
Allen wanted to chase after them and entangle Regis, but the hobgoblins around him were uncooperative. After losing five hobgoblins, these guys, who had never had the concept of fighting to the death in their minds, had long wanted to retreat. However, they were still on the winning side, so they didn't collapse. But it was impossible for them to charge forward with him again in the short term.
The ten cunning hobgoblins who had rushed to the front lines eventually scurried back and joined Allen and the others. In the end, they fell into a strange stalemate. One side lacked the motivation to attack again due to the demoralized hobgoblin warriors, while the other side had no intention of counterattacking in order to preserve their combat power.
"Hobgoblin leader on the other side, why don't we stop fighting here? The grain in this carriage can be considered compensation for you."
Manager Feli secretly hated the lack of ability of the Eagle Mercenary Group, but he had no choice but to stand up actively at this time. Hiding behind a shield warrior, he shouted to the hobgoblins a few meters away with a friendly expression, as if the previous battle had never happened.
"..."
Allen stared at the carriage with the broken wheel, then looked at the five corpses lying on the ground and his tribesmen who seemed a little dispirited after being frustrated. He quickly pondered in his heart and soon had an answer.
"Okay, but you must stay away from that carriage. Hey, stop secretly pawing at that carriage. Now that carriage belongs to the powerful Green Field Tribe!"
After reaching an agreement, they quickly took subsequent actions. The human merchant caravan reorganized the caravan, slowly withdrawing towards the northern horizon while guarding against the hobgoblin team. The hobgoblins quietly waited until the other party was far away and safe, then rushed to the ownerless carriage with gleaming eyes, randomly tearing open the bags on the carriage and searching for food to eat.
"You dog-headed mongrels, I don't see you being so active when fighting! Get lost, all of you stay away from the carriage. If anyone dares to steal anything from the carriage, I'll tear off his head and use it as a ball to kick!"
Faced with the chaotic scene, Allen didn't have the patience to persuade these guys who lost their minds as soon as they found food. He rushed onto the carriage with a stone, kicking and beating the hobgoblins surrounding the carriage to drive them away. In this short period of time, a whole bag of nearly 50 pounds of dried biscuits had been ruined by these guys. This could have been the tribe's food for a day.
"If anyone dares to touch anything on the carriage again, I will kill him!"
Allen was furious. Looking at the ruined grain and the guys with bulging cheeks and secretly hiding some food in their hands and arms, he couldn't release his anger.
Especially when he thought about the nine carriages that had been abandoned by them like this, and he didn't know if there would be a chance to encounter such a caravan with abundant storage and weak strength in the future, Allen's heart ached faintly. Those should have belonged to him, Allen! ! !
"Tidy up, Stone, you take a few people to drag the carriage back to the village. Remember to keep an eye on the things on the carriage for me."
"Okay, hehe!"
Stone, who was smiling foolishly while looking at the full carriage of goods, nodded in agreement while stuffing the dried biscuits he had snatched from other tribesmen into his mouth.
The old horses that originally dragged the carriage had already been taken away by the human merchant caravan when they withdrew, as well as some very valuable goods on the carriage. In fact, in the end, what was left for Allen and the others was only less than two thousand pounds of various foods and a hundred pounds of various spices and coarse salt.
These goods were certainly worth a lot to the human merchant caravan, but they were not as valuable as the goods carried on their other carriages. Therefore, while it was a pity to give them up, Manager Feli was still able to accept it.
But for the native aborigines of the Mansa Wilderness, there was nothing more valuable than these goods. With these food and coarse salt, the entire tribe would not have to worry about going hungry for at least 2 months. At this time, the hobgoblins swept away their previous decadence, and everyone's face was filled with a satisfied smile.
Affected by the mood of the tribesmen, Allen, who was still somewhat dissatisfied in his heart, quickly threw his previous disappointment to the back of his mind. At this time, he was already calculating in his heart how to distribute the spoils next to maximize his benefits.
When a group of tribesmen dragged and pulled the entire carriage back to the entrance of the tribe's village, the entire tribe fell into cheers. Women, children, and the elderly, who had always suffered from hunger, crawled out of their simple and dirty caves and grass nests, and another chaos spread in the village until Allen led people to wave sticks and drive the tribesmen away and stored all the food in his cave before everyone calmed down.
"Tonight, let's have a good meal, with plenty of food! ! !"
Looting two thousand pounds of food at once was a big harvest for the Green Field Tribe, who were used to living a hard life. In Allen's 18 years of memory, the Green Field Tribe didn't seem to have had so much income. The last time they looted eight hundred pounds of food was seven years ago. Therefore, at this time, seeing the expectant gazes of the tribesmen, Allen also made a generous decision to have a big meal.
But Allen never expected that this sentence of his would eventually consume nearly two hundred pounds of flour for the dinner that afternoon, which made Allen, who finally knew the news, feel another heartache.
