#147 - Legendary Power
Chapter 147: The Might of a Legend
A disaster triggered by theft ultimately affected the creatures within a dozen miles of the Greenwild Plains.
The three powerhouses in the sky ultimately failed to reach an agreement. When the shield-bearing warrior from the Thunder Tribe, after prolonged unsuccessful negotiations, initiated an attack on the dragon, the dragon's subsequent counterattack engulfed the area within a dozen miles centered around them.
The shield-bearing kobold warrior struck his shield with his one-handed hammer. The shield flashed, and a terrifying lightning bolt suddenly appeared in the cloudless Greenwild sky, like an arrow of lightning descending from the heavens, shooting towards the massive dragon in the air.
The dragon allowed the lightning to engulf its entire body. Its powerful magic resistance allowed it to withstand the Tier 7 lightning spell, enduring it with its physical body. The price it paid was merely a few dragon scales near its vitals being torn apart by the lightning strike, revealing the red muscle underneath. At the same time, the dragon began chanting dragon language. Three enormous shields of fire surrounded the dragon's body. Having just cast defensive spells, the dragon didn't pause, and another spell quickly took shape. A fireball, many times larger than the one Allen and the Boneshatter gladiator had seen before, formed in front of its head and, guided by the dragon's mental power, swiftly shot towards the two kobolds in the distance.
While the dragon was casting spells, the legendary kobold priest holding the Divine Codex wasn't idle either. Various protective and enhancing divine spells were cast on himself and his companion without regard for mana. As the fireball approached them, the priest's Divine Codex radiated light in all directions. He pointed his staff at the fireball and shouted, "Divine Art—Magic Dispel!" The enormous fireball simply vanished into nothingness, returning to nature as if nothing had happened.
Empowered by his companion's buffs, the shield-bearing kobold warrior merely waved his one-handed hammer, and Allen, several miles away, could feel the air rapidly contracting. Then, the kobold's figure suddenly disappeared and reappeared in zero-distance contact with the dragon, just in time to have his hammer blocked by the dragon's raised claw.
"Duang!!"
The deafening sound of metal clashing resounded, accompanied by a massive shockwave emanating from the point of impact, transforming into a Category 3 hurricane that swept wildly in all directions, stirring up countless sand, dust, and rocks.
The crimson-scaled dragon, though engaging in melee combat, showed no weakness. Its ferocious dragon mouth opened wide, biting towards the clumsy kobold. At the same time, its body slightly bent, and a massive tail transformed into a long whip, slamming fiercely towards the kobold priest in the distance, launching a simultaneous attack on both of them.
"Well done!!"
The shield-bearing kobold warrior raised his shield high, using it to block the sharp teeth of the dragon's bite. Then, he slammed his hammer into the dragon's jaw, the massive force causing the dragon's head to tilt slightly upwards. However, the dragon's sharp claws suddenly struck at his chest, grazing past him, the sharp claws creating a piercing screech against his heavy armor.
Facing the sudden swipe of the dragon's tail whip, with the dangling appendage on the tail like a hammer, the priest once again flipped a page of the Divine Codex. With a flash of light, a transparent barrier that completely protected his body enveloped him. The dragon's tail appendage struck the barrier, creating only visible ripples, but it lacked the power to break through.
Magic surged in the air, anger splattered, and the brilliance of divine arts flickered. While casting dragon language spells, the dragon also used its tail, wings, and claws to launch a frenzied attack on the two kobolds. Although it was fighting two against one, it didn't appear to be at a disadvantage. The two kobolds flying in the sky, with their solid and steady teamwork, had the warrior with the shield resisting the dragon's claws in front, and the priest casting various divine spells to attack the dragon from behind, while also remembering to buff the warrior and heal his injuries.
Every movement and every collision between them brought gusts of wind that scattered in all directions, stirring up countless Greenwild plants, as well as flying sand and rocks. Each spell enveloped half the sky, inspiring awe from the bottom of one's heart, like a divine punishment.
"You are courting death, you damned reptiles!!"
In the end, the dragon was still slightly lacking in strength. Under the attacks of the two legendary kobolds, it carelessly had its left wing's membrane completely pierced by a Tier 7 divine spell cast by the kobold priest, creating a large hole of 3-4 meters, and a deep bloody hole was stabbed into the abdomen beneath the wing membrane.
Injured, the dragon seemed to lose its mind, its attacks becoming even more frantic, its movements no longer restrained. Grabbing, biting, whipping, and striking were all used in conjunction with its dragon language magic, all directed towards the shield-bearing warrior in front of it. As for the priest on the other side, it seemed to completely ignore him, retracting its wings to protect its vulnerable abdomen, relying on the dragon's powerful physical agility to dodge the priest's divine spells. When it couldn't dodge, it used its innate magic resistance to withstand the divine spells.
"Hoo!!!!!"
With a long exhalation, the entire sky above the Greenwild was completely enveloped in flames. Allen's eyes were filled with orange-red, and his face felt as if it were being directly roasted by the flames. When the flames dissipated, the verdant green that had once dotted the tan wilderness of the Greenwild had disappeared, replaced by a scorched yellow, and wisps of smoke rose into the air.
Even Green Lake, nearly ten miles away from the center of the battlefield, had steam rising from its surface, distorting the space and making the view less real.
"Damn reptiles, the great Flame Devouring Dragon still has important matters to attend to. I'll spare you for now. Next time, Figlas will definitely revisit your town, and then Figlas will repay the damage received today twofold!!"
As intelligent creatures, dragons also know how to cherish their lives. The so-called arrogant temperament of dragons only exists when they are in an advantageous situation. Facing two legendary kobolds, one close and one far, working together in tacit understanding, the dragon, seeing no hope of victory, naturally wouldn't throw its life away in the hands of these two lowly kobolds.
"Chase!!!"
The two kobolds didn't hesitate. After exchanging a glance, they took off, rapidly flying through the sky, chasing after the dragon's escape route, leaving behind a ravaged Greenwild Plains, with countless lives annihilated in their battle.
Allen watched the dragon and the legendary kobolds leave one after another, and he didn't feel fear or dread because of their unimaginable strength. On the contrary, his heart was now filled with fighting spirit, and he saw the real existence of the goal he was pursuing, making his future even clearer.
