Green Monster Epic

#16 - Alchemical Products

"Supervisor Feli, what do you think we should do to attack this camp to avoid more damage?"

After the persuasion to surrender was ineffective, Allen stopped wasting his breath and turned back to discuss the attack on the camp with Feli and Regis.

"Well, everything is up to Chief Allen's arrangements. We will try our best to cooperate."

Feli looked obedient, obviously not wanting to be too involved in the natives' battle, while Regis, on the other hand, was expressionless, closing his eyes to conserve his energy, and even ignored Allen's inquiry.

"Don't think about being lazy. Helping us reduce losses is also helping yourselves. Anyway, your warriors will have to rush up with us in the next attack."

Allen had already guessed the other party's selfishness and looked at them with a threatening tone.

Hearing this, Regis, who had been silent like a statue, opened his tiger eyes and glared at Allen with murderous intent. Fortunately, Supervisor Feli reacted and quietly tugged at Regis's sleeve, signaling him to calm down. After quickly weighing the pros and cons, he quickly said, "Actually, our trade caravan happens to be transporting an alchemical item that may be very useful for breaking through the fence."

"Oh? That's great. Supervisor Feli, why don't you hurry up and have someone prepare it? If we finish what we need to do sooner, you can leave safely sooner, right?"

Allen looked at Feli in surprise, but seeing the other party's hesitant expression, as if he had some unspeakable secret, he asked, "Looking at Supervisor Feli's expression, it seems like you are a little unwilling?"

"Alas, to be honest, Chief Allen, this alchemical item of ours is a one-time consumable, and the production process is complicated and valuable. Although helping the chief is our established agreement, we only agreed to assist from the side before, but we never said that we would use our property, did we?"

Feli was indeed in a dilemma. For this trade, the Silver Flash Merchant Guild had exhausted all its energy to prepare these nine carts of goods. They had hoped that it would help the Silver Flash Merchant Guild overcome its difficulties. Every item transported to the Elven Kingdom could bring considerable profits. Seeing that they were about to reach the Elven border, who would be willing to take out a valuable alchemical item for free use?

"That's true."

Allen thought about the previous agreement with Feli and the others. Apart from manpower and weapons, there were no other requirements. If he added conditions at this time, an ordinary wilderness native would probably do it easily. However, Allen's cooperation with the Silver Flash Merchant Guild was no longer limited to the superficial cooperation it was now. During the journey, he intentionally communicated with Feli, which made him think of another opportunity to cooperate with Silver Flash.

Through his exchanges with Feli, the world outside the wilderness gradually opened a wonderful window for Allen, which made him eager to connect with the outside world and truly experience it.

However, the harsh living environment of the wilderness made it impossible for Allen to rashly put himself in the unknown. He needed a guide and a safe retreat so that he could start his adventure with peace of mind. The Silver Flash Merchant Guild, which needed his help, might be a great opportunity for him to connect with the outside world.

"Then Supervisor Feli, what do you think our tribe should pay to compensate for your losses?"

Thinking of the opportunity to need the other party in the future, and the weapons that the other party still had to deliver, were all factors that prevented Allen from using strong measures.

"Now that we have helped your tribe capture the Gnoll camp, shouldn't our trade caravan also have the right to share the spoils? Of course, we won't compete with Chief Allen for valuable items such as food, salt, spices, and weapons, but those useless gold and jewelry and Gnoll cubs in the Gnoll camp are of no use to your tribe. Why not give them to us as compensation for using your valuable alchemical item?"

Listening to the conditions Feli stated, and looking at his appearance as if he had suffered a great loss, Regis on the side almost couldn't help but curse him as a profiteer. He knew very well that the so-called valuable alchemical item in Feli's mouth was just the cheapest black powder. Those were just consumables that Feli and the others used to blast open the roads blocked by robbers, and they were not worth much money in human society at all.

Of course, black powder was just right to blast open the simple log fences outside the Gnoll camp, which could save Allen and the others a lot of effort.

However, Feli knew about these things, and Regis knew about them, but the Gnoll Allen didn't know about them. Feli boldly proposed it because he was sure that the other party didn't have enough knowledge and was determined to win this camp.

"Well, that can be discussed, but don't think you can fool me because I'm ignorant. Gold and jewelry are not very useful in our wilderness, but I heard that in your human society, and other kingdoms, they are very valuable!"

Although Allen didn't have enough knowledge and knew nothing about the outside world and prices, Feli's acting skills were not good enough, and Allen's keen eyes still noticed some clues. He held back what he had originally intended to agree to and made an ambiguous decision: "I want to see if the alchemical item you mentioned is really effective, and then I will give you the corresponding reward based on the effect."

"Okay, no problem!"

Feli was a qualified businessman. He seized the other party's weakness of not wanting to suffer too much loss in attacking the camp and proposed to use black powder in exchange for the right to distribute the spoils after the war. Whether the other party agreed or not, the actual loss to him would not be great, but if he could really obtain the right to distribute the spoils, then they would really make a lot of money.

Wilderness people were eager for food and weapons and generally disdained other things. Small tribes in remote areas such as Green Field and Bonefire rarely had merchants who dared to come and trade. Therefore, after robbing goods, they always discarded things that they didn't need like garbage in the camp, or they were collected by the chiefs.

The human shield warrior risked being hit by rubble and flying spears from the Gnoll camp, and with a large shield, he laboriously transported two oak barrels to the southeast corner of the Gnoll camp before quickly running back. Seeing that there was almost no change on the opposite side, and only two oak barrels were left by the fence, Allen almost wanted to turn around and scold Feli, but unexpectedly, two consecutive earth-shattering explosions suddenly erupted. Even Allen and others, who were nearly a hundred meters away from the camp, felt the ground and air vibrate, and then a strong smell of gunpowder rose from the location of the previous oak barrels.

When the smoke cleared, the original camp fence that had stood tall was now torn apart. Within three meters of the oak barrels, the original logs, each as thick as a person's embrace, were broken in half. The logs were crooked or directly flew away, and even a few unlucky guys behind the fence were directly blown away six or seven meters. They fell to the ground and didn't move, and it seemed that they had lost their lives.

"This...this..."

Allen was dumbfounded, pointing to the changes in the distance, and looked back at Feli, who was as wise as he was, and couldn't even speak coherently.
