#188 - Who is it?
Chapter 187: Who Exactly Is It?
"The Chieftain is back!!!"
Allen's return filled the Green Field Tribe with ecstasy.
When Allen was in the village, everyone would instinctively avoid him because this chieftain had sharp eyes and always found uncomfortable things for the tribesmen to do; but when Allen left the tribe for these days, everyone suddenly felt that they lacked a backbone. Even with the two advanced warriors, Flower Snake and A-Xiao, at home, they couldn't match the sense of security that Allen alone brought to the tribesmen.
"Where is Flower Snake? Where is A-Xiao?"
The tribesmen's faces were filled with joy, but Allen's face was still filled with anger and worry. He scanned the tribesmen and found that many familiar faces were missing. Although it was possible that they were working elsewhere, seeing the traces of various battles inside and outside the village, Allen was more convinced that something major had happened in the tribe again.
"Flower Snake and A-Xiao are recuperating with the elders. Chieftain, it's great that you're back!!"
Philip trotted to Allen, reporting to him while curiously sizing up the Orc Saru behind Allen, a friendly smile on his face as he nodded slightly.
Saru was new here and didn't know what had happened in the village to make this Goblin Chieftain so angry. However, seeing that there were still a few human faces in their village, his uneasy heart was somewhat comforted, and he returned the goodwill shown to him, but then there were no other actions.
"What happened in the two months I was away?"
Allen's face was ashen as he stared directly at Philip, causing him to break out in a cold sweat. He quickly began to explain in detail.
That day, Flower Snake and A-Xiao had bravely entangled the Ogre Behemoth, and about 5 Ogres broke into the village from the gap smashed open by Behemoth.
The tribe's warriors hadn't completely collapsed at the time, but they were only one step away from it. After all, the loyalty and sense of belonging to the tribe that Allen had cultivated in the tribesmen allowed them to persevere until now, which was already a great improvement. However, facing 5 powerful Level 7 Ogres, the biggest drawback of the Green Field Tribe was revealed: their crude weapons could only inflict minor damage on the burly Ogres.
Fortunately, there were relatively many warriors in the tribe. On the still-standing walls, some warriors held their ground, entangling several Ogres outside the village who hadn't climbed in yet, while the other warriors, led by Dajiang and Blackhead, jumped down from the walls. Ten warriors surrounded the 5 Ogre warriors, desperately resisting their attacks and using their crude weapons to inflict small and large wounds on their bodies.
A Goblin warrior was careless and was smashed into mincemeat by an Ogre's thick ironwood club. When the Ogre's club flew up again, the Bear Goblin, responding to the unfortunate Goblin warrior, ran towards the back with fear and unease on his face. The sharp-eyed Dajiang noticed this flaw and made a timely recovery, finally managing to stop the Ogre from breaking free.
"Plug the gap! If we don't plug the gap, we're all done for today!!"
Philip shouted loudly. He knew very well that if the people of the Green Field Tribe couldn't hold on, then he, a human, wouldn't be spared either. Although he couldn't play much of a role in the battle, he could still help Camellia lead the females to patch up the gaps for the warriors and do what he could.
"Tell the females to fill the gap with everything they have in their homes! If that doesn't work, tear down those few stone houses that haven't been completed yet and send the stone bricks up!!"
The wilderness wasn't lacking in wood, but because the Green Field Village had been building on a large scale these days, the thick trees within a few miles of the village had been almost completely cut down, and no one had thought of leaving some logs in the village for future use. Now that they were facing a real crisis, everyone was in a situation where they had no materials to use.
"Okay!!"
Camellia didn't hesitate, even though Bush on her back was crying earth-shatteringly, making her upset.
"I'll kill you bastards!!"
Of the ten warriors who besieged the 5 Ogres, only 6 were left. The other 4 were either directly smashed to death or sent flying by a club, lying on the ground groaning. And their opponents had only one who had a spear pierced into his eye socket, lying on the ground convulsing. Dajiang was single-handedly holding off an Ogre, fiercely smashing his nail-studded club, going head-to-head with the incredibly strong Ogre. Fortunately, he was now an Level 8 warrior, and his physical strength was comparable to that of the Ogre, so he could fight an Ogre head-on.
On the other side, Blackhead, also Level 7, was still much weaker than the Ogre in terms of strength, and he needed a tribesman to protect and support him to gradually suppress the opponent's offensive. The remaining 4 Goblin warriors were struggling to cope with the attacks of 2 Ogres. If one more person died or was injured, they would probably collapse directly and follow in the footsteps of the previous Goblin who had fled.
Dajiang was very anxious and angry because he had noticed this problem, but he couldn't get away for the time being, so he had to vent his unwillingness with loud roars.
The crisis was getting more and more serious. As a Goblin, Dajiang knew very well what would happen next, and how much damage this would cause to the Green Field Tribe. No one knew how happy Dajiang was in his heart about the changes in the Green Field Tribe now. He was different. If other Goblins only felt that their identity was innate and somewhat helpless, then Dajiang, from the time he could remember, was proud of being a Bear Goblin.
Dajiang himself didn't know how this strong emotion was generated, nor did he care, but because of this strong emotion, he had a strong sense of belonging to the Green Field Tribe that was completely different from others. Since following Allen out of Thornsburg and opening his eyes to the outside world, others were more envious and curious about the many wonders of the outside world, but Dajiang had an unspeakable feeling of depression.
The people of the outside world looked at them, these bumpkin-like Bear Goblins, with undisguised contempt and disdain, which deeply hurt Dajiang's heart. Allen, the chieftain, could take it in stride, as if he couldn't see the eyes of these outsiders, but he, Dajiang, couldn't ignore it. Therefore, since returning, he had made up his mind to bring some changes to the tribe so that the future tribesmen would suffer less of this kind of gaze.
Chieftain Allen was very powerful, which Dajiang admired, but what Dajiang admired even more was Chieftain Allen's wisdom. Under the leadership of the chieftain, the changes in Green Field over the past year or so far exceeded the changes brought to the tribe by the previous dozens of chieftains. Dajiang was also happy to see such changes because these changes made the lives of the tribesmen better and increased the number of children in the tribe.
In the past, what Dajiang thought was to work hard to improve his strength. When he surpassed Chieftain Allen one day, he would challenge him to seize the power of the chieftain and transform the tribe according to his own ideas; but now, it seemed that many of his ideas had been turned into reality by the chieftain, and he had done better than he could have done himself. Therefore, Dajiang had another plan, which was to assist Allen, the chieftain, and watch him lead the tribe to become stronger and stronger, becoming the next Thunder Tribe.
If Shi Tou was loyal to Allen because of his brotherly friendship with Allen for many years, then Dajiang's loyalty to Allen should be seen as his loyalty to the entire Green Field Tribe, even if he himself may not understand these principles, but his character drove him to make such a decision.
Dajiang gritted his teeth, and suddenly made a decision. He suddenly let go of his left hand holding the nail-studded club, and directly met the wooden club that the opposite Ogre was smashing over. There was a crisp sound of 'crack', and Dajiang's left shoulder suddenly drooped down. After Dajiang's left hand blocked the Ogre's wooden club, although it directly broke Dajiang's left arm, the force on the wooden club in the end was not enough to threaten Dajiang's body.
Gaining this brief opportunity, Dajiang endured the severe pain, and his right hand had already gathered all his strength on the nail-studded club. He suddenly jumped up and pounced on the Ogre who was two heads taller than him, and the nail-studded club slammed down on the opponent's big head, using his injury to exchange for this fatal blow.
