Green Monster Epic

#193 - A sudden visitor

Chapter 192: Sudden Visitors

(Fourth update. Last night, I couldn't resist the temptation and clicked on something I shouldn't have, hence this extra update tonight. Happy weekend!)

Saru stayed in Green Lake Village for two days, recovering his condition and taking the opportunity to ask Allen for a lot of supplies.

Saru's equipment had long been looted by Allen in the desert. Even the dagger he used for self-defense was bargained back from Allen. Now that he was helping Allen assassinate the great enemy in his heart, if he didn't seize the opportunity to ask for some benefits, it wouldn't be the style of Saru and his mercenary colleagues.

Allen was also generous. Since he had made up his mind to have Saru assassinate the thorn in his side, the Bonebreaker, he naturally wanted it to be as foolproof as possible. He not only returned Saru's previous equipment to him but also added several scrolls and potions he had purchased as a precaution to facilitate Saru's assassination.

Saru set off, disappearing in the northeast direction of the Bonebreaker tribe as Allen watched him go.

"Will doing this cause displeasure from the Bonebreaker tribe?"

As one of the three people who knew about Saru's assassination, Phillip said with some concern. He had never been in contact with the Bonebreaker tribe that Allen spoke of, but judging from Allen's constant fear of their strength, this Bonebreaker tribe was probably not an easy neighbor to get along with.

"Since he can do those shameless things, then he can't blame me for retaliating with the same means!"

Allen's expression was as usual, not worried about this matter at all. Now the strength of their Green Field Tribe and the Bonebreaker Tribe was about the same, and in a few years, they might even surpass the other party. Allen was very confident in this. Therefore, he now hoped to see the party that had previously signed the contract being destroyed, which was different from his previous compromising mentality.

However, what Allen didn't expect was that just one day after Saru went to the Bonebreaker tribe, the Bonebreaker himself came to Green Lake Village with four kobolds, almost making Allen think that the Bonebreaker knew about his arrangement for Saru's assassination, or that Saru's assassination had failed. Seeing the Bonebreaker's radiant smile and the cart behind him pushed by the kobolds, with wooden boxes stacked on top, Allen couldn't help but feel that this old guy was here to cause trouble.

"Judging from Chieftain Allen's expression, it seems that you don't welcome this old fellow?"

The Bonebreaker had a thick skin. Seeing Allen's face that was almost dripping with water, he still smiled and didn't show any displeasure. Instead, he teased Allen's emotions. He seemed to have forgotten how he had treated Allen when he visited Bonebreaker Village more than a year ago.

"No, I'm just a little surprised."

Allen composed himself, put on a calm attitude, and looked directly at the Bonebreaker's face to see what he was going to do.

"Won't you invite me in for a seat?"

The Bonebreaker was very enthusiastic. Seeing that Allen had no intention of inviting him into the village, he took the initiative to ask.

"... Alright, as long as you don't mind my tribesmen being uncouth."

Allen paused, then reacted and passively made a gesture to invite the Bonebreaker into the village.

Along the way, Allen was very silent. Before he figured out the old guy's intention, he didn't know how to communicate with him. On the other hand, the Bonebreaker's face never lacked a smile. It was as if the relationship between him and Allen had always been harmonious. At the same time, he looked around curiously, looking at the various arrangements in Green Lake Village, and couldn't help but sigh with emotion.

"I didn't expect that in just one year, Chieftain Allen would have rebuilt your village so much. It really makes this old bone feel ashamed!"

The Bonebreaker said earnestly. It wasn't that he couldn't tolerate other people's excellence, but when he saw the dilapidated village a year ago now becoming orderly and well-planned, even better than his own Bonebreaker Village that he had managed for many years, he really felt a little jealous of this bear goblin.

"Elder Bonebreaker, you're joking. I've also been to your village. Compared to your village, our village still has many things to learn from you."

Allen was not complacent. Instead, he recalled the scene of Bonebreaker Village when he visited it, and he honestly felt that the other party's village management was not worse than his own.

"Hahaha, I didn't expect Elder Allen to be so eloquent!"

The Bonebreaker laughed loudly, seeming to like Allen's compliments very much, but when his gaze turned to the eastern area that was being renovated, he asked meaningfully, "It seems that your village, Chieftain Allen, has not been very peaceful recently?"

"What do you think?"

Allen's expression changed immediately, and a sarcastic remark blurted out without even thinking.

"I heard that your village was invaded by a group of ogres a few days ago. At that time, I was going to bring people over to help you drive away these invaders, but I was afraid that Chieftain Allen would misunderstand."

"Later, seeing the warriors of your village bravely drive away this group of ogres, I was relieved."

"Elder Bonebreaker, we are all sensible people. You know very well why this group of ogres attacked our village and who is behind it. I don't need to expose this matter, do I?"

Allen couldn't listen anymore. He stopped and just stood there, letting the mountain wind blow, his fierce eyes staring at the Bonebreaker.

Following Allen's movements, the tribesmen behind him, such as Blackhead and Mauro, leaned forward, assuming a fighting stance, their fierce eyes undisguisedly looking at the Bonebreaker and his party, waiting for Allen's order to rush forward and kill this group of despicable kobolds.

"Hehe, I knew I had to come here."

The Bonebreaker opened his shoulders, put the cane back on his belt, and looked at Allen with a frank expression, still calm and composed, and said, "I was afraid that you would misunderstand that this matter was related to our tribe, so I came here personally to explain it to you."

"Yes, I admit that last time I used honey and other supplies to persuade the ogre Jushi to come and cause trouble for you, Chieftain Allen. Also, the jackals of the Ivan tribe were also bought by me with supplies so that they could try to curb your development."

"If Chieftain Allen were in my position, I think you would do the same thing, but since your tribe promoted the second advanced person, I no longer have this idea. When the legendary powerhouse fought in your territory, when I made a proposal to you, I sincerely wanted to coexist peacefully with your tribe. You have to believe me."

Allen's eyes were fixed on the Bonebreaker, but through the Bonebreaker's eyes and the expression on his face, Allen could not find any sign of the other party lying, as if everything he said was his true thoughts.

"Believe you? Do you think that's possible?"

"Precisely because I was afraid that you wouldn't believe me, Chieftain Allen, I brought a gift this time. This gift is my best proof to you."

The Bonebreaker was prepared. Seeing the questioning attitude in Allen's eyes and the sarcastic expression, he immediately waved to the kobolds behind him. Several kobolds carried down simple wooden boxes from the cart and placed them at Allen's feet.

Allen didn't move, just looked at the Bonebreaker. Seeing this scene, the Bonebreaker just smiled lightly, then bent down and opened the wooden boxes one by one. Immediately, a stench accompanied by the smell of lime rushed to his face.
