Green Monster Epic

#203 - Flower Snake's Strategy

Chapter 202: The Flower Snake's Plan

The final result was beyond doubt. When the six lizardmen who had chased after them discovered the lurking hobgoblin squad, it was already too late to run back.

After easily dealing with the six warriors from the lizardman tribe, attacking the lizardman tribe became even simpler. With Flower Snake single-handedly challenging the lizardman chieftain and then beheading him with a single strike, everything came to a close.

In this battle, only four out of the twenty-two Green Field goblins suffered minor injuries, while the rest were unharmed. Their opponents, this unlucky lizardman tribe, had six members killed in the battle, three escaped the village in the chaos, and eighteen lizardmen, including the young ones, were captured by Flower Snake and his team.

"Looks like these lizardmen are nothing special after all!"

A'Xiao, seeing the lizardman prisoners tied up like cocoons and dragged in a long string, said with a hint of smugness.

Aside from the population, there wasn't much of value in the lizardman camp. A'Xiao and the others didn't even bother to look at the little bit of hard peach flour they had saved up. Instead, they collected the ironwood and fir logs from their village and piled them up, waiting to take them back together.

Flower Snake didn't speak. Although he had just fought a great battle with the lizardman tribe's chieftain, Flower Snake, with his sharp weapons and superior strength, had eliminated his opponent without much effort. In his opinion, in a battle between two tribes with a huge difference in strength, the current result was very normal.

The second troll tribe was more troublesome than the lizardman tribe. The trouble lay in the fact that the trolls were individually stronger, and both men and women in the tribe were warriors with powerful recovery abilities. Flower Snake and his team paid the price of two seriously injured tribe members before ending the fight with Flower Snake and A'Xiao participating in the battle.

In the end, out of the small fifteen-member troll tribe, Flower Snake and his team captured twelve alive. Only three died, and those three didn't survive because A'Xiao smashed their heads with a hammer. The remaining trolls, even if their hands and feet were chopped off, quickly stopped bleeding naturally and relied on their powerful recovery ability to stay alive.

"What do we do now? Should we have people take this group back first?"

A'Xiao had a headache. Because Allen said to bring the prisoners back alive to work, the entire team had become more than twice as bloated after these two battles. A full thirty captured trolls and lizardmen, more than the number of tree-age of Flower Snake's team.

"There's no need, right? These guys are tied up so tightly. Let's rest here tonight and go back after conquering the halfling goblin tribe early tomorrow morning."

Flower Snake looked at the sky and then at the pile of prisoners behind him, their faces full of fear, anger, and other emotions. His expression remained calm.

"When the time comes, we'll escort these prisoners to the halfling goblin tribe. Either of us can step forward to challenge the halfling goblin chieftain, and I think things should be settled."

"Wouldn't it be that simple?"

A'Xiao was a little disbelieving.

"Before I came, I already asked the halfling goblins in the tribe. Their chieftain's challenge is not much different from ours. I don't think it's necessary to be too harsh on people of the same race. Let's try this first."

No one had thought that Flower Snake seemed not to care about anything, but when he was really entrusted with a responsibility, he always had his own ideas. Allen himself had never thought that the reason he hadn't chosen to delegate power to the tribesmen was perhaps because Flower Snake had always seemed mediocre. But how could a hobgoblin who dared to break through himself and travel through the wilderness be just a mediocre hobgoblin!

"Anyway, let's surround the halfling goblin village with this group of people first, so we don't have to worry about them running away."

"... Well, okay, I'll listen to you!"

A'Xiao had never concealed the fact that he didn't like halfling goblins. At the same time, he had always sneered at the strength of halfling goblins. Therefore, he didn't worry that this forty-odd halfling goblin tribe would pose a threat to their team.

Nothing happened overnight. Early the next morning, after Flower Snake and his team had a simple meal, they headed towards the halfling goblin camp that Salu had mentioned.

"Wow!"

"Don't come over! If you come over again, we won't be polite!"

The halfling goblin camp was very simple, but there was a long, seemingly sturdy stone wall. Inside the wall, a group of halfling goblins held spears, iron forks, and other weapons, watching with fierce expressions but weak hearts as the goblin tribesmen swaggered up to the camp gate, surrounded the entire camp, and the troll and lizardman prisoners tied into a group not far behind them.

"Who is the chieftain of your tribe? Come out and talk."

Flower Snake, carrying his two thin swords, walked out of the team and came to the simple village entrance of the other party's camp. Then, he stuck the thin swords upside down in the ground and shouted at the swaying heads inside the wall.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

A slightly bolder halfling goblin questioned Flower Snake fiercely through the stone wall.

"I am Flower Snake of the Green Field hobgoblin tribe. According to our goblin tradition, I have come here today to challenge the chieftain of your tribe."

"If you accept the challenge and I fail, I will take my team and leave. If I succeed, then you must listen to our arrangements from now on!"

Flower Snake's face was solemn. He didn't despise his opponent just because he was a halfling goblin like A'Xiao. On the contrary, in his opinion, challenging the chieftain of the same race was a sacred thing, even if the opponent was weak, he represented the face of dozens of people in a tribe.

"Of course, you have the right to refuse, but if your chieftain does not accept the challenge, then the goblin team behind me will forcibly attack your tribal camp. The consequences you will bear will be even more serious!"

The halfling goblin camp fell into silence. Then, before Flower Snake and his team could take any action, a commotion broke out inside. Later, a halfling goblin who could be considered burly and strong among the halfling goblins, holding a steel axe, walked out slowly and firmly, facing Flower Snake in front of him, although he was a little scared.

"I am Tony Roland, the patriarch of the Roland tribe. I accept your challenge."

At this time, the halfling goblin Tony was uneasy. Facing the strong hobgoblin Flower Snake, he had no confidence in winning at all, because he saw the familiar troll faces in the other party's team, which were tightly bound. He suddenly realized that they were the more powerful neighbors in their surrounding forces than the Roland tribe. Even the powerful neighbors had fallen to this point, so how could his Roland tribe be spared!

Since the other party had taken the initiative to launch a chieftain's challenge, it meant that the other party did not seem to want the Roland tribe's people to suffer too much damage. This might be good news. However, Tony was still not sure, so under the opposition of the tribesmen, he came out to accept the other party's challenge, while not forgetting to confirm with Flower Snake once.

"If I am defeated, will my tribesmen be harmed?"

"As long as they obey our will and listen to our arrangements, they will not be harmed. I swear in the name of this challenge."

Flower Snake solemnly promised to the halfling goblin in front of him.

"Okay, come on!"

Tony raised the steel axe and prepared for battle.
