Green Monster Epic

#35 - World of Warcraft

The time spent in Thunder Town passed quickly. The brief interactions deeply touched Allen and strengthened his future goals.

Supervisor Philipe sold a batch of goods that the kobolds of Thunder Town urgently needed, and then set off according to plan, continuing towards Thornburg in the elven kingdom.

"The kobold Bugra I introduced to you last time has a good foundation in Thunder Town. If you want to deal with kobolds in the future, you can contact him."

Philipe didn't completely ignore Allen. When trading with the kobolds, he brought Allen along, acting as a go-between for him and the kobold merchant Bugra. This was a reciprocal gesture for Allen's escort along the way.

Of course, the main reason he introduced Allen to Bugra was that he had previously taken a piece of craftsmanship Allen was carrying and given it to Bugra. After all, Philipe's Silver Flash Merchant Guild rarely does long-distance trade. Many relationships aren't as well-established as those behind merchant guilds specializing in this. If you want to buy and sell in a kobold town and obtain reasonable profits without being deliberately harassed, you naturally need to temporarily find a middleman to connect you with influential people in the town.

The shrewd Philipe was unwilling to spend his own money to build relationships, so he approached Allen, explaining the various benefits of maintaining relationships, fooling Allen into nodding repeatedly. Then, from the odds and ends he had accumulated over the years while preparing to escort the Silver Flash trade caravan, he picked out a copper craft pointed out by Philipe and gave it to Bugra as a gift.

In the end, all Allen gained was accompanying Philipe to meet the kobold Bugra once, familiarizing himself with him.

Thinking of when he met Bugra, and Philipe introduced Allen to him, the other party's indifferent expression made Allen feel uneasy. He wondered if the other party remembered him at all.

"However, if you want to meet Bugra again next time, you still need to prepare some gifts. Otherwise, given the kobolds' greedy and shameless nature, they probably won't give you any help."

Allen shared the expense of giving gifts, and Philipe, with some conscience, didn't forget to remind him.

"Well, if I meet him next time, how big of a gift would be appropriate?"

Allen was ignorant. Although Philipe had explained the meaning of giving gifts, he really couldn't grasp the value of gifts in the outside world. Around their Green Lake, the most valuable things were grain and refined iron weapons. Other things were really useless.

"Uh…"

Philipe didn't want to explain the value of goods to Allen too much, otherwise, it would expose his previous trickery in distributing spoils. In the end, he said vaguely: "I think the crafts in your luggage are good. Giving him a copper craft each time is about right."

Copper isn't a valuable item around Green Lake either. Although it's a metal, it's too soft to make weapons. It can be used as currency, but the Green Lake tribes don't need it. As for its biggest use, it's to mix with other metals to create low-level magic items, but the hobgoblins have neither alchemists nor blacksmiths, so they can only treat it as garbage.

However, Philipe wasn't wrong. Although the copper crafts in Allen's hands aren't very useful, because they have a certain magical affinity, the crafts made are always attached with some zero-level cantrips or divine spells. Only in this way can they be preserved among Allen's species, who are not good at managing metals.

"Then I won't sell the copperware this time, I'll keep it to give to Lord Bugra."

Allen suddenly understood, carefully noted Philipe's advice, and thanked him gratefully.

Before giving the gift, Allen also had a thought and consulted Regis once. The other party didn't object to Philipe's arrangement. After all, Allen and his people would probably be dealing with kobolds for a long time in the future. Finding an object with background strength could save a lot of trouble.

During the two days in Thunder Town, Allen and Regis had experienced 4-5 robberies, being blocked in dark alleys by several kobold hooligans and forced to hand over the silver coins on their bodies. Although the kobolds who robbed them were the ones who got hurt in the end, it also made Allen understand that even in this seemingly orderly town, the dark corners were still a paradise for lawbreakers.

According to Regis, kobolds are inherently inclined towards the evil alignment. Even if the town's rules are maintained by two legendary figures, there are still adventurers who take risks at the bottom, having to do some illegal activities for a living.

"A good choice."

Philipe's face showed the expression of a promising child, but in reality, he felt sorry for the other party. A copperware with a zero-level cleansing spell was worth 2-3 gold coins, and other copperware with cantrips or divine spells mostly fluctuated around this value.

Sitting in the carriage, Philipe chatted with Allen while traveling, appearing leisurely, while Allen, who had to travel on foot, broke out in a sweat under the scorching sun.

Regis led his team, along with ten hobgoblins, scattered in front and behind the convoy, protecting the safety of the trade caravan. After selling two carts of materials for forging and casting in Thunder Town, the convoy seemed more streamlined. Many porters could also take a break in the empty carts, making the journey faster.

"Whoosh!!"

A huge shadow quickly swept across the sky, like a gust of wind, blowing everyone's hair wildly. The packhorses even felt the aura of natural enemies in the sky, stirring uneasily, shaking their heads randomly, and hissing from their noses.

Allen only had time to see an animal with huge wings waving hundreds of meters in the air quickly rising, and then disappearing into a cloud. He was so frightened that he hurriedly placed his hand on his greatsword.

The huge animal in the sky was the biggest shadow in Allen's life. When he was young, when his mother took him to dig for wild vegetables and berries around Green Meadow, his mother was taken away by this shadow. Although Allen was still young at the time, the age of 5 was enough for him to deeply imprint this scene in his mind.

"It's okay, it's a two-headed flying dragon. These brainless guys don't dare to attack trade caravans like ours, they only dare to attack lone prey in the wilderness."

Regis shook his head, signaling Allen not to be surprised.

"Don't look down on the two-headed flying dragon for having dragon blood, but their strength is the weakest among dragon-like creatures. With Allen's current strength, you should be able to protect yourself from its attacks. The only spell-like ability they have is dragon breath, and it's the weakest poison-type ability in dragon breath, equivalent to the power of a 4th-level spell. As long as you stay alert and keep your distance, you basically won't be directly sprayed."

There aren't many magical creatures in the wilderness, which is said to be related to a certain god who fell here in the wilderness legend. For example, the animals around Allen's Green Lake are mostly just ordinary animals, and basically no beasts can emit magic or spell-like abilities.

But as he experienced this journey and opened Allen's eyes, he realized that not only could humanoids like them possess magical spells, but even seemingly ordinary beasts could also awaken spell abilities.

Allen raised his head, trying to find the shadow in the sky again, savoring Regis's assessment of his strength, and imagining how he would face this monster if he encountered it again.
