Green Monster Epic

#367 - decisive battle

Chapter 365: The Decisive Battle

Mingxi City Palace. The Gate of Hell, which had stood tall and was built from countless bones, was now on the verge of collapse. The main structure was filled with countless cracks, expanding and contracting from time to time, as if it were about to explode. However, some unknown power was trying its best to repair it.

Compared to before, the Bone Gate was even more magnificent and enormous. The Devil Legion had painstakingly collected corpses and souls from the front lines and threw them into it, which gave it its current, larger size. A slender arm struggled to reach out from the Bone Gate. Every inch it extended into the material world, the sky seemed to creak and groan. Asmodeus, the former King of Angels and now the Lord of the Nine Hells, the co-ruler of the Hell Devils, needed to withstand the rejection from the will of the Feyman World in order to set foot in the Feyman World.

Even before Asmodeus descended upon the Feyman World, the Feyman World had already issued a warning to the various powerhouses and forces within the world through the ominous phenomenon of dark clouds covering thousands of miles.

Of course, the rejection from the world's will made Asmodeus's descent difficult. According to the current rate of descent, it would probably take at least half a month to complete the complete descent.

The Devil Legion was contracting, and for Asmodeus's descent, they would not allow any enemies to hinder the Lord of the Nine Hells' progress.

When the Wilderness Allied Forces reached 300 miles outside Mingxi City, they finally faced their most difficult battle. Before them, a legion formation composed of over ten thousand devil soldiers confronted the vanguard of the Wilderness Warriors with a chilling aura. Although they did not actively attack, the sharp weapons they drew and held in their hands were a demonstration to the Wilderness Warriors.

"Your Excellency, the 250,000 soldiers of our main force have completed their assembly. What should we do next?"

Noding, the Knight Commander of the Oakwood Temple in Mansa City, flew back from the front line and landed in front of the Treant Besermer, who was standing and gazing into the distance, bowing and inquiring.

"Prepare to attack!!!"

Besermer raised his head. As he spoke, his body began to expand. Ten meters... Twenty meters... Fifty meters... One hundred meters...

Until a giant War Tree form of the Treant, whose full view could only be seen by looking up, appeared before the crowd. Patches of newly grown grass and trees thrived in the yellowed grass and the soil corroded by devils and demons. Besermer had activated the natural domain of the Father of Oak.

Poof!! Thump!! Poof!! Poof!!

Originally, the scorched trees, as they regained their vitality, had their branches entwined with each other and their trunks slowly stretched out. Then, they pulled out their roots from the ground one after another, transforming into Treants with life essence, wielding long wooden sticks cut from their own bodies, and clumsily and slowly began to run forward.

"Fight for nature!!!"

The tall War Tree that Besermer transformed into, uttered a series of bronze bell-like shouts. Then, he stretched one of his arms backward, and a giant acorn automatically flew to the end of the branch. Then, with Besermer's arm swinging forward fiercely, the acorn directly pierced through the dark clouds in front of him, and then fell heavily, smashing into the legion formation composed of devil soldiers.

Boom!!!

After the acorn touched the ground, it directly exploded and cracked open, and inside, it burst out with small seeds like broad beans, also growing sharp thorns, covering the entire half of the devil formation. For a time, the steadfast and silent devils in the Devil Legion could not bear the nerve toxins on the seed thorns, and let out screams of agony.

The incarnation of the Father of Oak in the Feyman World fired the first artillery shell to attack the Devil Legion. The Wilderness Allied Warriors, who had already completed their assembly, were naturally unwilling to lag behind. Following the commands of the commanders, groups of brave soldiers began to launch an orderly charge.

"SAK... TOP..."

Behind the Allied Forces formation, teams of priests were chanting melodious incantations, and waves of enhancement spells fell forward, landing right in the several infantry formations that were charging in the lead, instantly increasing their strength and defense by several folds.

The cloud layer in the sky began to churn and surge. Accompanied by the chanting of the Druid teams, under the blessing of Besermer's natural domain, the Druid casters used spell links, and then jointly cast the powerful legendary spell Wrath of Nature. As the first lightning bolt fell from the dark clouds, cutting through the dark sky, countless lightning bolts followed closely, turning the vast area covered by the cloud cluster into a purgatory of rolling thunder snakes.

"Father God is above, may the Light of Immortality protect us!! Oakwood Temple Knights, charge!!!"

The thousand knights were the strongest combat power left in the Oakwood Temple. As the leading Legendary Holy Warrior Marcus Lars raised the spear in his hand, he gently kicked the abdomen of the handsome armored raptor under him. The riders of the entire Knights turned into a sharp sword, fiercely launching a charge towards the front.

"Kajiso, our last contest didn't determine a winner. This time, let's compete to see who kills more devils, how about it?"

The Lizardman Legend 'Eagle Walker' Munchi Shaffer, whose iron scales rubbed together and made a harsh noise on his hand, cast a provocative look at the Orc Legend Kajiso not far away, waiting for the other party's reply.

"Alright, it's a good opportunity for me to see if your skills have deteriorated after more than a decade, Munchi!!"

Before Kajiso's voice fell, the whole person flew into the sky, and then, like a huge catapult, directly crashed into a devil formation. A pair of battle axes turned into a meat grinder, and countless flesh and blood flew wherever he went. Sturdy devils flew into the air, and then slammed heavily to the ground.

"You cunning fellow!!"

A flame ignited in Munchi's eyes, and the light in his eyes shot out, also burning fiercely on his gauntlets. Without seeing him gather any strength, his entire person disappeared from the ground where he stood, and when he reappeared, he was already in a devil formation, protruding a long, empty no-man's land.

"Damn reptiles!!! Mongrels of the material world!!!"

The legendary commanders who were suppressing the formation at the rear of the Devil Legion roared angrily, and unfolded their body techniques to intercept the Wilderness powerhouses who rushed into the Devil Legion. However, it was a little late. Legends like Kajiso, who were as fast as lightning, had already slaughtered a devil legion of tens of thousands of people, leaving corpses of more than a thousand people on the ground.

"Huff!! Huff!!"

Mauro and the 37 Green Field tribe warriors behind him were considered lucky. Although they were heavy-armored legion formation, they were not the first formation to charge, but avoided the strongest and most intense first wave of attacks, and slowly pressed forward in the second wave as a assault formation.

Their breathing was heavy and labored, their hearts accelerating with each approaching sound of battle. Strength surged through their arms and bodies, until the commander's booming voice echoed through the ranks: "Charge! !"

A group of tall, robust wilderness warriors clad in sturdy, heavy armor finally unleashed their agile strides, wielding weighty and powerful battle axes and war hammers, ferociously slamming them onto the grotesque demon bodies blocking their path!!

Clang!! Clang!! Clang!!!!

Mauro couldn't spare a glance for his kinsmen to his left, right, or behind. He only knew to repeatedly hack forward with the heavy steel axe in his hands, cleaving any figure that dared obstruct his advance. Hideous and silent demon faces were everywhere. Mauro felt as though he would never break through the sea of bodies before him. His arms began to ache and cramp, but he dared not pause for even a moment, for the slightest hesitation would invite the frigid, razor-sharp weapons of the demons upon him.

His armor was riddled with cuts and stabs, having shielded him from countless demon attacks. Yet, the throbbing pain emanating from within his body reminded Mauro that he was, in fact, far from unscathed. It wasn't until Mauro delivered another mighty blow, splitting a demon before him in two, that he mechanically raised his battle axe once more, only to realize that there were no more demons in sight. He had, at last, pierced through the demon ranks and reached their rear lines.

Dozens of figures tumbled and soared through the sky, battling from the heavens to the ground, and back again. It was clear that these legendary powerhouses had reached their boiling points, unleashing a dazzling and terrifying array of techniques that tore through the dark clouds and sent shockwaves rippling outwards, whipping up gales of wind.

On the ground, hundreds of thousands of troops clashed in a surging tide of humanity. The roars of the warriors mingled with the clang of weapons, creating a colossal wave of sound that reverberated across the land.

As this epic battle in Mingxi City on the Sylvan Continent, a conflict destined to be etched into the annals of history, grew ever more intense, in the distant, frozen lands of the Southern Kingdom, atop a towering snow-capped mountain, a group of mages of legendary status and higher were collaborating to cast an intricate long-range teleportation spell.

The teleportation gate had been crafted by the Council of Truth many years prior, simply awaiting the input of beacons from the assembled legendary mages, who would then establish a connection with another world, thus completing a super-long-distance teleportation.

Naturally, the energy required to teleport multiple powerhouses at once was immense, hence why the Eternal Truth Council had gathered all thirteen of its members to cast the spell together.

As faint spatial ripples emanated from the teleportation gate, constructed from countless precious materials, they were absorbed and concealed by the mages' tower that enveloped the land. None would know the heaven-defying plan these mages, devoted to the ocean of knowledge, were plotting.

"Planar beacon established, ready for transit!!"

Loren Wilson, the legendary-intermediate mage known as the 'Helm of Space,' abruptly opened his tightly shut eyes, beams of light shooting from his sapphire irises as he declared in a steady, powerful voice.

"Excellent!! Activate the teleportation gate!!"

Council Speaker Brandt, the 'Embers of the Setting Sun,' nodded slightly, his body channeling immense magical power that flowed along the interconnected magic arrays, gradually converging into a river of mana that surged into the teleportation gate before him.

Whoosh!!!!!

A flash of white light threatened to pierce the firmament, but it was firmly blocked by the magical shield emanating from the nearby Ice Crystal Tower, slowly absorbed into the crystalline structure of the tower, transforming into a flawless, shimmering orb of light.

"Your Excellency, the teleportation gate is open and the spatial channel is stable."

Grand Mage Loren carefully inspected the mirror-like surface of the teleportation gate, which rippled like water, his eyes filled with a hint of satisfaction as he reported solemnly.

"Very good."

Speaker Brandt nodded repeatedly, his bald head resembling a light bulb, his eyes radiating clarity and purity, with glimmers of gold flickering within, as if his pupils contained an entire world, beckoning one to behold its entirety.

"As you all know, this opportunity is what our predecessors have dreamed of for tens of thousands of years. If we succeed, the lifelong aspirations of myself and all of you will become reality."

"Therefore, to ensure the smooth execution of this endeavor, after careful consideration, I have decided that I will personally lead this mission."

Speaker Brandt's statement immediately sparked a minor uproar, the twelve council members expressing a variety of emotions as they voiced their dissuasion.

"Since I have made this decision, there is no room for discussion. I will use my right as Speaker to veto any objections you may raise."

Faced with the dissenting opinions, Brandt was well-prepared. As the Council's strongest member, the only Saint-level Archmage in the Icewind Country, he was the powerful guarantor of the Council's continued existence. If he were to suffer any mishap during this mission, it would be a heavy blow to the Council, potentially even jeopardizing the Eternal Truth's influence over the Icewind Country's monarchy.

"During my absence, Vice Speaker Wells will temporarily assume my duties. You old fogeys remaining in the Feyman World must stay vigilant and ensure the safety of the Icewind Country."

"Furthermore, you must keep us informed of the situation in the north at all times through interdimensional summoning."

...

The council members exchanged furtive glances, all of them old friends who had lived for many years. They all knew Speaker Brandt's temperament; once he had made up his mind, trying to dissuade him would be more difficult than slaying a deity.

"As you command, Your Excellency!!"

The twelve legendary-level and higher archmages lowered their noble heads, offering the utmost respect to the hairless, crimson-robed elder with reverent gazes.

"Let us together usher in a new future!!!"

"Hahahahaha~~~"

A hearty laugh echoed from Brandt's lips. Having arranged everything, his crimson figure stepped through the mirror-like surface ahead, disappearing after stirring up a ripple.

"Farewell, my old friend. Remember to bring out your treasured bottle of tequila to celebrate my return!!"

Another figure vanished, none other than Grand Mage Loren, the most adept in space-related magic, following closely behind Speaker Brandt's footsteps, disappearing before the crowd.

One after another, figures departed with smiles or casual waves. Before long, nearly half of the Council's thirteen legendary-level and higher powerhouses had entered the teleportation gate, six formidable mages venturing into that unknown plane.

I will strive to conclude the preliminary setup tomorrow, and it will be time for the protagonist to restart his magnificent life!!
