Green Monster Epic

#456 - Evacuation

Chapter 445: Evacuation

A group of Drow rebels from Coldwind Pass were dragging a long line, slowly moving away from the direction of the west city side gate.

"What a pile of trouble!!"

Kyril stroked his forehead, staring at the long line on the ground, muttering to himself with a complicated expression.

The Drow group on the ground numbered over 6,000, nearly a third of whom were underage children. They were being watched over by the adult Drow, heading towards an unknown destination, looking lost and bewildered.

The Drow's habit of raising children is very cruel. Newborn children can only stay with their biological mothers for a maximum of three years, after which they are gathered together to be raised and begin learning the various survival rules of the Underdark.

The females among the Drow, influenced by the environment and racial culture, are mostly naturally promiscuous and ruthless. In addition, females occupy the ruling class in the Drow world, so they simply do not have much time to take care of their children, nor do they have the inclination.

And these children, who have been gathered together from a young age, except for a small number of gifted females with spellcasting talents who are taken in by the Spider Queen's temple, the rest are all sent to special combat academies for foster care.

Starting from the age of five, Drow children need to take up weapons and compete with their companions, ultimately completing the racial optimization of the survival of the fittest. During this process, various bloody and cruel encounters will eventually affect the minds of Drow children. A child who has to experience betrayal and killing, hunger and struggle from a young age is basically unlikely to become a normal person.

This is also why the Drow's reputation in the surface world is so bad, to the point where almost everyone shouts to kill them.

Ted and his group of Drow outliers, who were fortunate enough to still retain the beautiful emotions of normal intelligent beings, were therefore trying every possible means to escape the world of the Underdark Drow. At the same time, they also did not want the Drow children to continue living that inhumane life, being brainwashed by the Drow's distorted worldview.

At the beginning of the Coldwind Pass rebellion, Ted and Chelsea, two legendary powerhouses, had the primary goal of targeting the combat academies in the city, rescuing all the more than two thousand children under the age of 13 in the city.

As the host of the Oakwood faction in this operation, Kyril had already been informed of the arrangements for Ted's group of Underdark believers. But now, seeing the slow and bloated queue below, he realized that the previous arrangements might be difficult to complete.

Originally, the Oakwood faction had arranged a settlement for this group of Drow partners in the Hills of Hills, more than three thousand miles south across the Kator Mountains. The environment there was quite good, and there were two major tribes belonging to the Oakwood faction around, which could guarantee their daily reproduction.

Now, with so many young children and a large amount of supplies plundered from Coldwind Pass, migrating south on a long journey of five thousand miles would probably be a difficult and painful journey for Ted and his group.

The reason for not planning to settle this group of Drow in the Northern Territory was firstly because they were afraid that the Drow in the wilderness would be angered and vow to hunt down these traitors. As long as 5-6 legendary figures were sent out, Ted's small team of only six thousand would basically have no reason to survive. Secondly, the aboriginals in the wilderness of the Northern Territory, because of the Drow's invasion of their homeland, would probably not welcome this group of Drow traitors, especially the Snowmads and Raven's Claw, the two tribes whose territories had been occupied.

The two tribes had just been pulled into the Oakwood faction, and it was time to carefully cultivate each other's feelings and build relatively stable relationships. If the Oakwood side resettled a group of the two tribes' enemies in the Northern Territory, it would not be a good thing for each other, or even for Ted's Drow branch.

However, plans can never keep up with changes. The supplies taken away by Ted's Drow branch were still easy to handle, but the excessive number of children in their team was a big trouble. The children who had not yet grown up would inevitably be unable to undertake a long journey of thousands of miles, and the number of casualties along the way would definitely be not in the minority.

Thinking of these things, Kyril's head throbbed.

Allen and Eric followed far behind the Drow's large team, their expressions calm and their eyes sharp, guarding the rear of the team, while also not forgetting to cast their attention to the Drow in front.

Although the Drow's reputation in the Ferman world is indeed not good, Allen has to admit that the other party's racial talent is really good. At least in his Greenwood tribe, only the Bear Goblins can be on par with them in terms of combat talent.

Those young little masters with dark faces were now silently following closely behind the surrounding adult Drow, walking step by step. Their breathing had already begun to become disordered, and Allen could see the movements of their mouths gasping for air and their chests contracting and expanding rapidly.

Occasionally, a 5-6-year-old child would accidentally be tripped by a stone or a dead branch on the ground. Without the need for other adult Drow or the surrounding young companions to come and help, the Drow who fell to the ground would roll up on their own, continue to catch up with the team, and walk forward silently.

The adult Drow's progress was not very fast because of the burden of supplies, but compared to the stamina and pace of the young people, the distance they traveled in a day far exceeded the children's abilities.

However, not a single Drow teenager fell behind. As long as they still had the strength to take a step, they would take that step firmly. Nor did any teenagers cry or make noise, even if blisters had already formed on their feet, and the blisters had been squeezed and broken, and then oozed out a trace of blood.

The only thing that made Allen feel uncomfortable was the teenagers' indifferent attitude. Few people would lend a helping hand to companions who fell or were injured around them. Even when their companions fell, they never looked at them, as if everything that happened around them could not interfere with them.

Eric's brows were also slightly furrowed, and it seemed that he was also somewhat concerned about the personality problems of this group of Drow.

Behind the large westward-bound team, a dozen Drow elite scouts would disappear and reappear from time to time, sometimes lying prone in the grass and bushes, constantly monitoring the rebels' whereabouts. At the same time, among these rebellious Drow, there were also elite assassins ambushing the pursuers behind, and the two sides were engaged in life-and-death assassinations and counter-assassinations within a range of a dozen miles from the main force.

It was not until a rapidly sliding figure in the sky gradually approached the team that the eyes of Allen and other strong men showed a bit of interest. However, just ten miles away from the main force, the Drow female with dark skin but wearing a gorgeous dress stopped and stayed far behind the main force.

Kyril was a little annoyed, and he was worried that the legendary mage's tracking was guiding the way for other colleagues behind him. With the speed of a legendary powerhouse, from the time the news of the turmoil in Coldwind Pass spread to the Drow in the front-line city of Bonn to come to support, there were 5-6 days, and they should be catching up with their pace.

For Kyril and other legendary figures, there was not too much need to worry about the Drow powerhouse's pursuit. Even if the other party sent more pursuers than their own legendary figures, they might not be able to keep their group. The problem was that they were protecting this ordinary Drow team. If the enemy targeted this group of Drow, then Kyril was very worried that they would not be able to protect these Drow properly.

"Everyone, who is interested in meeting that guy?"

Among the legendary powerhouses present, the only one who could be absolutely sure of dealing with the Drow female was probably Kyril, the demigod. However, as the backbone of the team, Kyril naturally could not go up to fight as soon as there was an enemy, but instead disregard his true mission.

"I see, some guys were being slippery during the last fight, only looking for some small fish to muddle through. Now is the time for him to really put in some effort!"

The Stone Blind Barbarian legendary Cainy interjected in a strange tone, his eyes glancing directly at Allen and the others, and the implication was already obvious.

"I'll go!"

Allen was too lazy to argue with this guy. The harvest from scavenging a few days ago was indeed good, and Allen knew that the other party was a little jealous.

After saying this, Allen rose straight up and quickly approached the legendary spellcaster in the sky.

The rhythm of these chapters is indeed a bit slow. I will think about it carefully and see how to make the plot more compact next.
