Green Monster Epic
#75 - reconstruction
Chapter 75: Reconstruction
Alan stayed by Green Lake alone for an hour, thoroughly venting his feelings of remembrance for Stone. The remaining emotions were buried deep in his heart until he was sure the tribesmen wouldn't notice, and then he leisurely returned from the lakeside.
"Chieftain, I saved some porridge and vegetables for you."
Camellia was very considerate. She didn't find Alan at lunchtime, but she specially saved a portion for him. Otherwise, with the tribesmen's rough and careless nature, it was absolutely impossible for any food to be left over. As for how Camellia convinced the tribesmen to leave this portion for Alan, a hint of curiosity arose in Alan's heart, but it was quickly attracted by the aroma of the food, and he started eating.
"You, *munch*, have you eaten?"
"I've already eaten."
"Good. Since I have nothing to do, continue talking. Besides Stone, who else in our tribe was killed or captured? And where did the others go?"
Alan ate while continuing to ask Camellia questions, wanting to understand everything about the tribe as soon as possible.
"The situation was chaotic at the time. Besides seeing Stone die, I also saw Little Fish being hacked to the ground by a kobold. Later, after I took the children and hid in the lake, I didn't dare get close to the village. When the kobolds left, I thought I saw three or four figures of our tribesmen in their ranks?"
Camellia's tone wasn't certain. To be honest, if she hadn't known that Alan and the others would eventually return, Camellia would have secretly sneaked into the village warehouse alone and grabbed a few bags of grain like the other males and run away.
After wandering in the wilderness for more than ten years, experiencing many family-style settlements, small tribes, and even being plundered into the gnoll tribe as livestock, Camellia's days in the Greenwild Tribe were certainly hard, but they were the most comfortable she had ever lived. Apart from sometimes having to sell her body to please the former chieftain, there was nothing that made her feel uncomfortable.
When Camellia discovered the Bonecrusher casting spells, she judged that the village would inevitably be lost. As the first hobgoblin to react, she didn't get up and run away. Instead, she ran to the safe cave where the hobgoblin cubs gathered while the village was still safe, brought them out, and crawled out along the hidden wolf den that the gnolls had opened by the wall to raise hyenas.
Such an action was not something an ordinary hobgoblin would do, and because of her actions, the female hobgoblins who cared about their children followed her, gathering most of the Greenwild Tribe's strength, and persevering until Alan's arrival. All her actions were for the sense of belonging to the Greenwild Tribe, and she didn't want the tribe to fall apart. Perhaps no one in the entire Greenwild Tribe had more identification with the tribe than Camellia.
"But is it possible that our tribesmen fled to the old camp during the rout?"
Camellia's tone was intermittent and lacked confidence. While waiting for Alan, she and several females, in addition to picking wild vegetables and fishing in Green Lake, also spent a lot of time thinking about the possible whereabouts of the fleeing tribesmen.
"Well, it's very possible. I'll have Flower Snake take someone to take a look later."
Alan gulped down the food in the ceramic bowl, wiped his mouth haphazardly with his sleeve, stood up, and gave Camellia an encouraging look.
"In the future, your task will be to continue to take good care of the children in the village, as well as those few females."
"I brought back three carts of grain this time, enough for our tribe to consume for half a year. Later, you take people to put them in the warehouse and keep them from getting damp. Also, those goblin fellows who came with me are all under your management. Besides that human named Philip, you also have to take good care of the remaining humans. They may be of great use in the future, so don't let them be bullied by our people, understand?"
Alan was adding burdens to Camellia's shoulders. Seeing that Camellia could still think of protecting the tribe's cubs at such a critical moment in the village, she was much better than those rice buckets in the tribe. Alan was troubled by many trivial matters in the tribe, and he had to do everything himself. Otherwise, if he handed it over to the tribesmen, some would definitely be insincere and try to be lazy. Now that Camellia was performing well and was quick-witted, she was a useful talent.
Of course, Camellia herself was a female and not strong enough, so it might be difficult to convince the public, but with his support behind her, presumably no one would dare to contradict her.
"I will definitely manage the village well!!"
The joy on Camellia's face was hard to hide, and she nodded like she was mashing garlic.
With Alan's words, her status in the tribe would be greatly improved in the future. When she managed the village with Stone before, Camellia had experienced the taste of power once. Now that she had the opportunity to seize power again, she was naturally very happy.
"Go out and call Flower Snake and the others to me."
"Okay."
It didn't take long for Camellia to leave, and Flower Snake and A'Xiao walked into the tent that Camellia and the others had built with the logs left over from the burning in the village. At this time, he seemed a little sleepy because he had just filled his stomach, and he was a little listless in front of Alan.
"Chieftain, what do you want me for!!"
Flower Snake's tone was still a little dissatisfied, it seemed that Alan had disturbed his rest.
Alan was not polite, and immediately stood up and kicked Flower Snake, sending him back several steps, and then he cheered up and put on a flattering smile.
"Chieftain, is there anything you want me to do?"
"Of course I have something to do when I'm looking for you. Do you think I'm as idle as you guys?"
Alan said unhappily, then without delay, he directly issued instructions to Flower Snake and the others.
"Flower Snake, take two people and go around our old village to see if any tribesmen have sneaked back."
"Okay!"
After suffering a kick from Alan, Flower Snake finally came to his senses and agreed readily on the spot.
"Big Mountain, A'Xiao, you take the rest of the people and cut down some logs in the wilderness and bring them back. Let's first patch up the gaps in the village walls."
"Ah? Why bother with this effort? Let's just make do with it. Who knows if those kobolds will come back and fight again!"
Big Mountain and A'Xiao were given heavy labor, but they were unwilling, and immediately became a little unhappy, looking for excuses to get rid of this troublesome thing.
"When the kobolds come to kill, I'll be the first to drive you two up to fight them!!"
Alan was furious on the spot, and cursed at Big Mountain and the two of them fiercely, feeling that it was still not enough to relieve his anger, and kicked these two lazy guys a few times. Finally, under Alan's tyrannical power, they reluctantly accepted the task and left the camp gloomily with Flower Snake, each doing their own thing.
