Green Monster Epic

#89 - Find Differences

The Month of Solidity is not as important to the Wildlanders as it is to the two large continents to its north and south. After all, being located near the equator, there are basically no significant climate changes. However, it is not without its uses. At this time, the beasts scattered throughout the wilderness begin to enter their breeding season, and many large herbivore groups begin to migrate to places with more lush vegetation to breed their next generation.

Therefore, this time is like the beginning of a grand feast for the intelligent creatures and carnivores of the wilderness. Only when these herbivores begin to migrate can tribes like Allen's have months of plentiful food.

Da Shan led five warriors from the Green Field Tribe through the wilderness, looking around at every movement. Their luck was a bit poor today; they hadn't encountered a single prey animal, which was quite unusual for the wilderness during the Month of Solidity.

If they couldn't hunt any prey to bring back today, Da Shan and his five tribesmen would have to face Allen's deadpan face again. Being beaten severely by him was nothing, but having no dinner would be unbearable. When the other tribesmen were eating fragrant meals, the six of them would be lifting hundred-pound dumbbells in the square, watching with longing eyes, which would be a great loss of face.

"Brother, there's a herd of antelopes ahead!"

A tribesman spotted prey and whispered.

"Good! Everyone, shut your mouths! Follow my movements, and don't startle these guys!"

Finally, their hard search and tracking paid off. A herd of antelopes was wandering among several tall trees and dense bushes, occasionally stretching their heads to lick leaves from the lush green shrubs or lowering their heads to graze on the grass.

The leading antelope was the most vigilant, lifting its head to observe its surroundings after only a few bites. Its pointed ears were constantly rotating 180 degrees, listening to the surrounding movements.

Without Da Shan's prompting, several tribesmen approached to within twenty meters of the antelopes and spread out, forming a circle to slowly surround the herd.

The leading antelope seemed to hear a noise and looked towards the direction of a hobgoblin, but found nothing unusual. After a long time, it dismissed its vigilance and resumed eating. Da Shan and the others, who had stopped moving, breathed a sigh of relief and continued to crawl slowly across the grass, advancing stealthily.

Just as they were about to get within the effective attack range of their javelins, a javelin descended from the sky with a "thud," landing in the ground a dozen meters away from the antelope herd, completely disrupting their movements and causing them to scatter in all directions.

"Which bastard is messing around!"

Da Shan jumped up from the grass, only managing to curse before having to abandon the pursuit. He grabbed the javelin in his hand and threw it at an antelope he had spotted earlier. However, his target had already run more than ten meters away, and Da Shan's javelin accuracy and strength caused it to land a meter behind the target, the shaft still trembling.

The hunt failed, and Da Shan finally had time to turn around and look for the owner of the first javelin. At this moment, a dozen dog-headed figures emerged from the bushes in the northeast, walking out leisurely.

"Oh, isn't this the group of green skins from the southwest? So you guys were also eyeing this herd of antelopes. Well, sorry, we were also targeting this herd and acted a bit too soon."

The leader, Doghead Mier, wore a faint smile, showing no remorse for disturbing Da Shan's hunting.

Da Shan's green face was gloomy. He wanted to get angry, but remembering Allen's constant reminders, he suppressed his anger and could only argue reasonably.

"We clearly discovered this herd of antelopes first. You shot a javelin from so far away; that's not hunting, that's sabotage!"

"Hey, don't talk nonsense. One of the young men in our team has an extremely long and accurate javelin range; it's just that he underperformed this time and didn't hit the target. Usually, we start shooting from this far away, okay?"

Mier was deliberately looking for trouble, so naturally he had countless reasons, even if he knew these reasons were untenable.

"Okay, let's say you shoot accurately."

Da Shan was also helpless. He lightly estimated the difference in strength between the two teams. His side had only six warriors, while the other side had twice as many. Obviously, even if they fought, they wouldn't have the advantage. If they lost, they would be severely beaten by Allen, so he couldn't do such a losing business. He could only be a hero who could bend and stretch.

"But your current territory is within the activity range of our Green Field Tribe. Now you're trespassing!"

"You're talking nonsense. We've been hunting in this area since we were kids. Why do you say this is your hunting ground!"

The members of both tribes couldn't hold back any longer and joined the argument, forgetting about hunting altogether. The only fortunate thing was that although they were arguing fiercely, even to the point of being angry, no one laid a hand on anyone. They completely lacked the ferocity of the wilderness natives, who would fight at the slightest disagreement.

This was probably the result of Allen and Bone Crusher signing that agreement. To avoid their tribesmen's disputes involving them violating the agreement, they always educated their tribesmen to avoid conflict. However, Bone Crusher was clearly one step ahead. Although he forbade his tribesmen from fighting with the green skins, he also directed them to hunt in the Green Field Tribe's territory, especially to disrupt the Green Field Tribe's hunting teams, preventing them from having enough food. This did not violate their agreement.

Although he was confident that he had more experience and ability than Allen in developing and expanding his tribe, while developing his own tribe, sending tribesmen to curb the Green Field Tribe's access to food was also an important means of widening the gap between the two sides.

"Chieftain, this can't be done!!!"

Having his hunt ruined and losing the argument, Da Shan returned to Green Lake Village and immediately quit, venting all his anger on his tribesmen.

"You took people out hunting but didn't catch any prey, and now you're acting like you're right!"

Allen glared fiercely at Da Shan, who was sitting on the ground sulking. Although he didn't quite understand the reason for his anger, he couldn't indulge him like this.

"We were about to catch a herd of antelopes, but the dogheads from the northeast ruined it. They even argued that we delayed their hunting!"

Da Shan didn't speak, but the members who went hunting with him complained to Allen with grievances.

Allen was speechless. He really didn't expect that the dog-headed people, who were clearly stronger, would be so despicable and shameless in their actions, even running to his sphere of influence to cause trouble. No wonder Da Shan was so angry. However, he thought about it and couldn't come up with a good way to deal with the dog-headed people's despicable methods. He could only let it be.

The current Green Field Tribe doesn't have the strength to turn against the Bone Crusher Tribe. What they need to do more is to endure, and nothing else.
