Murong Cheng didn’t sleep well the night before, so Luosang asked her to head home first. She had planned to stay herself, as it was more convenient since they were all girls.

Jiang Yuning turned to Luosang and said, “You can go home too. Just leave her to me. I will take good care of Xixi.”

“No, it’s ok. I think you should stay, Sangsang,” Nian Xi said with her eyes closed.

Jiang Yuning looked disappointed as he lowered his head—Nian Xi must be still mad at him. She didn’t even want him to take care of her.

Luosang noticed his sad face. He looked like Xiaosi when he didn’t get a treat. She pitied him and explained, “Some things are easier and more convenient when it’s all girls around.”

“I understand,” Jiang Yuning said reluctantly.

Luosang kept quiet.

She wondered if he fully understood everything she had just said.

When everyone had left, some colleagues and friends dropped by to visit Nian Xi at the hospital. Nian Xi tried her best to entertain her visitors. At around noon, an unshaven Captain Chen went over to visit. “Nian Xi, I’m so sorry. I should have visited you last night but I’ve been up all night interrogating some suspects. They only revealed the location where they hid all the abducted women this morning. I had to plan a mission to rescue all of them safely, but because of the hostility and physical abuse by the suspects, one of the women had to be sent to the hospital.”

“What perverts,” Nian Xi said through gritted teeth. “Thank goodness they rescued the victims in time. We must put this man behind bars.”

“Of course, but we have to look into where he got his firearms from. I don’t understand how a farmer can get his hands on a Beretta 92F,” said an exhausted Captain Chen, perplexed.

Nian Xi frowned, “You’re worried that there’s an underground arms trafficking ring involved in this?”

“But the guy insisted that he picked it up in the woods,” Captain Chen smirked. “I think this whole thing is fishy. According to my investigation, this guy hasn’t been able to find a wife because of his family condition. Rejection and alienation from his community were what gave birth to his twisted mindset and perverted tendencies—that’s why he ended up abducting women. I made a home visit and his living conditions were terrible. He couldn’t have had enough money to buy a gun like that. At most, he could only afford a hunting rifle.”

“That’s true…” Nian Xi frowned. “Last night, he rushed out all of a sudden and started shooting right away. He’s quite a vicious one. No matter what the results of his psychological evaluation are, I think he needs to be locked up—he’s got sociopathic tendencies.”

“Don’t worry about it anymore, just focus on recuperating and getting better.”

When Captain Chen left, Nian Xi looked at Luosang worriedly.

Jiang Yuning who was just listening stood up suddenly and said enthusiastically, “Xixi, you can tell me if you need anything.”

Nian Xi looked at him, perplexed. Luosang laughed and asked, “Do you need to go to the bathroom?”

Nian Xi nodded.

Jiang Yuning quickly said again, “But the doctor said that you shouldn’t move around now. I’ll go get the adult potty for you.”

He quickly took it out from under the bed.

Nian Xi was blushing as she looked at him and said, “I’m a girl, how am I supposed to use that?”

Jiang Yuning was speechless. He looked at it for a moment before he finally realized, “You are right…”

Luosang tried hard to hold back her laughter as she took out a bedpan, “Mr. Jiang, can you please excuse yourself for a moment?”

Jiang Yuning was frustrated at himself again, “I’m sorry, Xixi. I’m used to taking care of my dad back in the day, so I didn’t think too much about it. Luosang, let me do it, I really can handle it. I have to get used to these things. I can’t always trouble you to take care of my girlfriend.”

He emphasized the word ‘girlfriend’.
