Luosang was stunned. “What are you doing here?”

“I’m here for a blind date.” Nian Xi lowered her head to change out of her shoes. “I asked out one of the researchers at your school. He’s about thirty years old, and he was using jargon the entire time. I got bored really quickly. Eh, why do you have men shoes here?”

Luosang saw them too and was a little stunned. Nian Junting hadn’t left yet?

“Is it your new boyfriend or your roommate’s new boyfriend?” Nian Xi asked curiously.

“Um…” She didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t decide if she should tell her about her getting back together with her brother. They had made an agreement not to tell other people in case it alerted unnecessary people, as it would be problematic if Jiang Qifei heard about it.

“You have a boyfriend?” Nian Xi was excited. “It’s okay. Don’t be nervous. Although you didn’t become my sister-in-law, I’m not as unreasonable as my brother. I won’t object to you dating another man. I’m so happy for you that I wish my brother could see your new boyfriend. It would drive him mad.” Nian Xi picked up a pear and started munching on it.

“I didn’t know that you enjoyed watching me suffer.” Nian Junting walked out from the kitchen with a red apron around his waist. He was holding a garlic that he was mincing, and he looked grim.

Nian Xi spat out a mouthful of fruit when she saw him and stuttered, “My brother…”

“You know that I’m your brother?” Nian Junting laughed coldly, “I thought you wanted to drive me mad?”

“I’m sorry, brother.” Nian Xi nearly knelt on the floor. “I felt really bad just now, and I was just trying to hide my disappointment…”

She turned towards Luosang and started crying. “Sister-in-law, you’re my sister-in-law again! I’m so happy for you and my brother that I’m actually crying tears of happiness.”

Luosang didn’t know what to say and turned to Nian Junting. “Quit fooling around. I thought you had already left.”

“The auntie can’t come tonight, so I thought I would stay and cook for you,” Nian Junting grunted and walked back into the kitchen.

Nian Xi was in awe and hurried to the kitchen door. She had never seen her brother in the kitchen cooking before.

“Well done, Sang. When did you guys get back together? Why didn’t you tell me?” Nian Xi felt uncomfortable suddenly, since she had thought that both of them were single now. Now, she was the only single one and she felt lonely and depressed.

Luosang blushed, a little embarrassed. “It has been a while.”

“Liar!” Nian Xi poked at her. “I thought we were soulmates going through tough times together.”

“It’s difficult to explain everything, but we broke up due to certain circumstances,” Luosang filled her in briefly.

Nian Xi was furious after hearing this. “How could Jiang Qifei do such a thing? How shameless of her!”

“So you have to keep this a secret for the time being,” Luosang said.

“Don’t worry, my lips are sealed.” Nian Xi was happy for them but sad for herself at the same time. She sighed and turned to her brother. “Brother, since you’re so happy now, you have to talk to mother for me. She’s been forcing me to go on blind dates every day recently. I have three dates in one day, and it’s driving me nuts!”

Luosang smiled. “You can try to meet them. Who knows? You might meet someone suitable! The men that auntie arranged must be of a certain standard.”

Nian Xi continued munching on her pear. “There are rich young masters, famous lawyers, prosecutors, artists, the hospital director’s son… so many I can’t even remember all of them.”
