Harry Potter and the Legend of the Temple
Chapter 17 The Room of Requirement
The midnight bell rings very regularly.
Louis turned over and got up, trying to keep his movements as small as possible, but the huge sound of wood scraping against the bed still gave him a slight pause.
He looked around, and the snoring sounded throughout the first-year dormitory, and even Colin on the bed did not react.
Louis breathed a sigh of relief and tiptoed to the common room downstairs, only to find Hermione already there, holding Harry's Invisibility Cloak at the ready.
Hermione waved to him, and Louis ran all the way to Hermione. She draped it up, covering both of them under the invisibility cloak.
Fortunately, the two of them were small enough. At eleven or twelve years old, they were old enough for the invisibility cloak to mop the floor.
Lewis had never been in such close contact with a girl, and he couldn't help but feel a little nervous. He could even smell the faint fragrance of Hermione.
Under Louis' guidance, the two of them walked up, trying to be as gentle as possible so as not to wake up the people in the portrait next to them.
Hermione seemed to be very familiar with sneaking out at night. She wore an invisibility cloak and was constantly observing her surroundings.
Suddenly, a meow broke the silence around them, and a red-eyed tabby cat seemed to be looking in their direction, with a little doubt in its eyes.
"It's Mrs. Norris, it's tragic." Hermione whispered to Louis. When the cat approached, Louis quickly covered Hermione's mouth to stop her from making a sound.
Cats are spiritual animals and have stronger perceptions than humans. If they had used ordinary invisibility cloaks, they would have been discovered long ago.
But Harry's piece is a genuine Deathly Hallows. If it were discovered, it would be a disgrace to the name of the Hallows.
Therefore, after Mrs. Delores walked around them, she ran away with little interest.
The two breathed a sigh of relief, and Louis discovered that Hermione's hand was tightly held in his hand at some point, and it was covered in cold sweat caused by nervousness.
Hermione also noticed this and quickly let go of Louis' hand. Her whole face turned red due to shyness, and Louis also became embarrassed next to Hermione.
The two jumped to the eighth floor of Hogwarts Castle, which was almost the highest point in the entire castle.
The empty space on the eighth floor is almost unattended. Usually no one comes to the eighth floor to see the scenery, let alone in the early hours of the night. Hermione pulled off the invisibility cloak, and Louis took her to a wall to stand in front of it.
She felt strange about Louis' behavior and looked at Louis with a puzzled face, wondering what the little boy was doing pacing back and forth in front of the wall opposite the tapestry where the troll beat Barnabas silly.
When Louis walked back and forth three times, a magical scene occurred. Patterns slowly appeared on the originally smooth and neat walls, gradually turning into a door-like shape.
"Oh!" Hermione already knew what this place was. She was well-read and knew Hogwarts very well. How could she not know that this would be a place that everyone would yearn for.
"Louis, you are such a genius." Following Louis, she opened the door. What Hermione saw was an extremely empty room with a large cauldron in the middle and various equipment for preparing potions around it. , Louis shook the prepared materials on the table beside him, and pulled Hermione to sit in front of the cauldron.
"The Room of Requirement, I think this should be the deepest secret of Hogwarts." Louis looked around and spoke.
The Room of Requirement, also known as the Room of Come and Go, comes and goes, always appearing in front of a person when they need it most. And when it does appear, it is always arranged to suit the needs of the seeker.
This was also the first good place that Louis thought of when Hermione asked for a place to prepare potions. However, the Room of Requirement was not easy to find, and the occasional feature gave Louis a headache.
"There is no better place than this, so let's get started now."
Hermione's enthusiasm made Louis feel a little scared. He saw her take out a book "Advanced Potion Making" from her pocket.
"Um, Hermione, I think we should start from the basics." Louis looked at the potions book that was a sixth-grade textbook with a bit of trepidation.
"Do you think you still need basic training, little potion genius?" Hermione looked at him with a smile and said, "Since you want to create new things, you must know these advanced potions."
During the following period, Louis was dominated by Hermione's "devil" teaching.
"It's a third of a spoon, not a half, Louis!"
"The book says to chop the moonstone into pieces, not put it in whole!"
"Swell the bean pods, squeeze out the juice, and stir clockwise three times."
. . . .
Back and forth, I worked hard for more than half an hour and wasted at least three or four pots of materials before I was able to shape the potion.
"The joy potion, I think, will take about an hour to fully form and blend." Hermione said while looking at the light yellow liquid.
Louis shook his head, took out his wand and said to the bottom of the cauldron:
"The flames are blazing!"
"Chi!" With a sound, the entire cauldron began to heat up, surprising Hermione on the side:
"What are you doing? There's nothing in the book that says it needs to be heated!"
Louis did not answer. He watched the color of the solution getting darker and darker, and the wand in his hand controlled the size of the flame at all times.
Gradually, about half an hour later, the golden liquid had taken shape. Louis withdrew his wand in time, put the successfully prepared elixir into a bottle and showed it to Hermione who was already stunned.
"High temperature will accelerate the fusion of solutions." Louis spread his hands. This is chemistry knowledge in junior high school.
"Pfft."
Hermione couldn't help but be amused by him, but she was still impressed by Louis' innovative spirit.
Louis' night training also resulted in a late start and late arrival the next morning. Tragically, that morning happened to be Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration class.
"I hope you won't have another chance, Mr. Wiggins." Professor McGonagall looked serious. As the headmaster and vice-principal of Gryffindor, she has the right and obligation to educate every student in the school.
"No, Professor McGonagall."
Lewis looked a little embarrassed, and trotted into the classroom in full view of everyone.
"Why are you here, Louis." Ginny looked at Louis with a worried expression, "Colin told me that you came back very late last night. Did something happen?"
"I'll tell you later, Ginny." Louis pointed at Mag on the podium and made a silent gesture.
Ginny looked a little strange, but Professor McGonagall had already started her lecture. It had to be said that the Transfiguration class was the most difficult class among all the classes, and although Professor McGonagall was serious, he was by no means as unreasonable as Snape. On the contrary, she is one of the most responsible professors.
Mag gave everyone some matches and asked everyone to practice how to turn the matches into needle shapes, but unfortunately, only Louis had some results after the first class, and Ginny also tried to make subtle changes in the matches. But it ultimately failed.
Professor McGonagall looked at Louis' performance and couldn't help but smile and nod towards him. It was obvious that she was not concerned about the situation but the person, which gave Louis a great sense of trust in her.
