Hogwarts: I am the White Demon King

#241 - Chapter 241: Learning the Patronus Charm? Our assistants are the most professional

Sebastian's words silenced the room, and the young wizards all looked at him with serious expressions.

"The Patronus Charm is an extremely powerful defensive magic. It can summon a corporeal Patronus, an entity composed of positive emotions and happy memories."

"It is the embodiment of light and hope, capable of repelling the dark aura of Dementors. However, its power stems from the depths of the caster's heart, making it exceedingly difficult to cast."

"Professor McGonagall, would you please give a demonstration to show the students what a Patronus looks like?"

Hearing this, Professor McGonagall nodded slightly. She stepped forward and waved her wand.

"Expecto Patronum!"

Instantly, a small cat made of silver light appeared from the tip of her wand, darting around the dueling arena.

The young wizards immediately gasped in amazement.

"Look, Professor McGonagall's Patronus is a cat."

"So this is a Patronus, how beautiful!"

"I never imagined something so small could ward off those terrifying Dementors. It's truly magical."

Once the students present had clearly seen the Patronus, Sebastian clapped his hands, drawing their attention back.

"Generally speaking, there are two forms of Patronus: the corporeal Patronus and the incorporeal Patronus. These two forms differ greatly in appearance and power."

"The first step to successfully casting the Patronus Charm is to produce an incorporeal Patronus. It has no animal features, or rather, it has basically no distinct features at all."

Sebastian waved his wand, and under his deliberate control, a cloud of silvery-white mist emerged from the tip of his wand.

"This is what an incorporeal Patronus looks like. This form of Patronus can barely resist the encroachment of Dementors, but it is too weak to drive them away, let alone harm them."

"However, don't underestimate this form. When facing a single Dementor, even an incorporeal Patronus can protect your lives to some extent."

So that's how it is!

The young wizards nodded, seemingly understanding.

"Everyone just saw Professor McGonagall's cat Patronus; that's a corporeal Patronus."

"The form of a corporeal Patronus is a shimmering silver animal, and its form is determined by the wizard's personality."

"Therefore, each wizard's Patronus form is different, and even if the animal form is the same, there will be subtle differences."

Looking at the students' eager eyes, Sebastian continued to explain.

"Generally speaking, the form of a Patronus is that of a common animal. Of course, there are some exceptions. As everyone knows, our headmaster's Patronus is a phoenix."

"Remember, there is no necessary connection between the image of a Patronus and its power. Its power is determined by the wizard's own magical strength."

"Just like the famous Illius, according to records in magical history, he once used a rat-shaped Patronus to drive away the Dementor army brought by the dark wizard Rachidien, saving the entire village."

Sebastian paused, his gaze sweeping across the face of each student: "There are two difficulties in learning the Patronus Charm."

"Firstly, this spell has requirements for the caster's magical power."

"Wizard Apprentice level three is the minimum requirement for learning this spell. Those of you who have not reached this standard, please focus your efforts on practicing regular spells."

"Secondly, to cast the Patronus Charm, you must recall your happiest memory, those most joyful moments. Then, concentrate your mind and transform this joyful emotion into power."

This is actually the most difficult part of learning the Patronus Charm, because one experiences many happy things in life.

Happy moments are very short, only bringing people very strong stimulation at the instant they occur, but as time passes, these happy memories slowly fade.

This leads to people often not being able to clearly distinguish which memory is the happiest and most joyful.

When using the Patronus Charm, if this positive emotion is not strong enough, it is impossible to summon a Patronus.

Sebastian raised his voice slightly: "Remember, the incantation for the spell is—Expecto Patronum."

"Come, everyone, try it briefly. Be firm in your will when casting the spell."

The young wizards had been waiting impatiently. After receiving the professor's permission, one by one, they recalled happy things and began to wave their wands incessantly.

Harry stood in the line, gripping his wand tightly, Sebastian's words echoing in his ears.

He closed his eyes, trying to find that happiest moment in his mind.

He thought of the first time he rode a broom, that feeling of freedom, joy, and unrestraint.

He opened his eyes and shouted, "Expecto Patronum."

However, the wand only trembled slightly, and there was no sign of any Patronus.

Hermione was also trying seriously. She bit her lip, furrowed her brow, and tried to select the most beautiful memory from countless happy moments in her mind.

Ron waved his wand frequently, but unfortunately, not even a wisp of white smoke emerged from the tip of his wand, which made him feel somewhat frustrated.

Watching everyone's reactions, Sebastian shook his head slightly.

When recalling those happy memories, the young wizards should be radiating happy emotions, but in Sebastian's magical perception, the young wizards' emotions could be described as diverse.

There was happiness, doubt, frustration, anxiety, and even depression, and so on.

So wavering, it was impossible to successfully cast the Patronus Charm.

It seemed it was time for the strongest support to appear.

Sebastian stopped the students who were experimenting with the spell and then called a little girl from the crowd to the dueling platform.

"Luna, would you please sing a song to help your classmates cast away their worries and cheer up?"

Listen to Luna sing?

The young wizards looked at each other in dismay.

Wasn't this practice for the Patronus Charm? How did it turn into Luna's solo concert?

Professor McGonagall was thoughtful, she somewhat understood Sebastian's intention.

Was this to allow the students to eliminate distractions and only retain happy emotions?

Luna did not hesitate and began to sing generously.

As Luna's singing drifted, the young wizards relaxed, and emotions such as impatience and doubt all disappeared, and traces of smiles crept onto their faces.

Seeing that the time was right, Sebastian raised his wand and cast a spell on everyone.

"Mind Shield!"

If Luna's singing was the basic fuel to ignite the students' happy emotions, then this spell was like a powerful catalyst, allowing the students' happy memories to explode completely.

In an instant, Harry felt his mind filled with past beautiful memories.

Moving into Dudley's vacated small room from under the cupboard for the first time;

Receiving the birthday gifts sent by his uncle's company's orphan care project for the first time;

Understanding the birthday messages written to him by Mr. White, Mr. Wolf, Mr. Prince, and the Swan couple for the first time;

Going to the amusement park for the first time to ride a roller coaster;

Receiving the Hogwarts acceptance letter for the first time;

Riding the Hogwarts Express for the first time......

And riding a flying broom for the first time...

These happy and joyful memories, like a tide, impacted Harry's mind wave after wave, causing him to close his eyes involuntarily and immerse himself in them.

Although these memories were all beautiful, Harry could easily distinguish which memory was the happiest and most joyful for him.

That was the first time he came to Swan Manor, when everyone celebrated his birthday, allowing him to feel the warmth of a home for the first time.

Sensing the surging happy emotions in the dueling hall, Sebastian reminded loudly.

"Little ones, what are you waiting for? Why not use the Patronus Charm now!"

Hearing Sebastian's voice, Harry opened his eyes, his gaze burning as he looked at the wand in his hand.

He raised his wand and shouted clearly and firmly.

"Expecto Patronum!"
