Hogwarts: I am the White Demon King

#424 - Chapter 424 What does Dumbledore mean?

Even before the third match began, Karkaroff had received instructions from Barty Crouch Jr. The message was simple: the Durmstrang champions team must do everything in their power to help Hogwarts win the championship.

Although Karkaroff was filled with reluctance at such an order, he could only nod in agreement when faced with Barty Crouch Jr.'s veiled threats.

However, Karkaroff was also clear that even if he was the headmaster of Durmstrang, Krum and the other two wouldn't be foolish enough to obey him, let alone obediently give up the championship.

After weighing the pros and cons, he chose an extreme and dangerous path. Just before the start of the match, he used the excuse of escorting Krum and the others to the waiting room to quietly cast three concealed Imperius Curses.

From that moment on, Krum and the others became obedient puppets.

In order not to reveal his hand too early, Karkaroff gave the three a simple order: upon seeing the champions team from another school, immediately attack them, eliminate the other champions one by one, and clear the obstacles for the Hogwarts team.

However, as the match progressed, Karkaroff became increasingly alarmed. The Hogwarts team's performance exceeded his expectations, sweeping through the maze with overwhelming combat power.

To be honest, Karkaroff was completely numb. From his professional point of view, the Harry's team's combat power was off the charts. Even going head-to-head against two champions teams, it wasn't impossible for them to win.

In this case, his use of the Imperius Curse to control Krum and the others was completely unnecessary, and instead, it blocked his last way out.

After all, the matter of the Imperius Curse on Krum and the others couldn't be concealed forever; it was only a matter of time before it was exposed to the public.

Therefore, facing the sarcasm and questioning from the other headmasters, Karkaroff pretended not to hear them. All he was thinking about now was how to escape.

Frankly, if it weren't too strange to leave the Durmstrang champions team's battle early, he would have been tempted to use a 'bathroom break' as an excuse to run away.

On the second level of the maze, Harry and the others were getting impatient. No matter how they calculated it, the Ilvermorny team and the Durmstrang team should have appeared by now. After all, the first level of the maze wasn't difficult, and they didn't believe that these two teams would fail on the first level.

The long wait led the three to suspect that the Ilvermorny team and the Durmstrang team were likely ambushing them on the first level of the maze.

"It's time to make a decision. There's no point in waiting any longer," Cedric said. "Are we going to get the trophy first, or..."

Before he could finish speaking, Malfoy revealed his presence: "Actually, if we weren't worried about their traps, we could just charge in for a wave of attacks. It's not like we couldn't."

If reason hadn't told Malfoy that the risk was too great, he would have liked to rush out and accomplish the feat of taking on two teams by himself. After all, the three of them had been working together for a year, and they could flexibly switch between various combat styles. Even facing two teams, he wasn't afraid.

"Let's do this," Malfoy gritted his teeth. "I'll put on an Impedimenta Charm and take a look. If we can lure them over, great. If not, then let's see if we can figure out what their traps are. Otherwise, even if we get the trophy later, we'll still be very passive."

As he spoke, he followed the safe path he had just left and walked to the entrance. After casting a Disillusionment Charm, he quietly poked his head out.

The next moment, he shrank back and shouted excitedly: "They're fighting! There are sounds of spells everywhere outside. It's lively as hell."

Fighting?

What's the situation?

Harry and Cedric also revealed their presence and asked the questions in their hearts.

Facing their inquiries, Malfoy shook his head: "I don't know. You have to go up the stairs to see it. Let's go take a look. If there's a chance..."

As he spoke, he raised his right hand and made a fierce gesture.

Harry and the other two had no reason to disagree. They re-cast Disillusionment Charms and Silencing Charms, and then crawled into the entrance with Malfoy.

After checking to confirm that there were no traps on the stairs, they sneaked up and quietly looked towards the center of the battlefield.

This one look was crucial. They were surprised to find that the area near the stairs was already a chaotic mess. There were traces of spells everywhere, and magical traps had been triggered.

And Krum was fighting against Carl and Megan from Ilvermorny alone, while the other champions were all knocked out on the ground.

Strike when they're weak, take their lives!

With such a good opportunity, there was no reason to let it go. Harry and the others decisively took action and joined the battle directly.

In the stands, the young wizards exclaimed repeatedly.

"Harry and the others are so smart. They can even seize the opportunity of the other two teams clashing. And their actions are decisive and clean, directly knocking out Carl from Ilvermorny."

"There are only two enemies left. This is stable!"

"This is so exciting, so exciting. This kind of big melee is much more interesting than exploring the maze."

"Hey, look at Krum. Why is he still staring at the Ilvermorny champions to fight? Doesn't he know to unite at this time?"

"Simple, he just got caught up in the heat of the moment. Besides, Harry and the others are all fine. Krum knows that there's no hope of winning, so he can only take revenge first."

While they were talking, Harry and the others had already defeated everyone. They looked at each other and could see the surprise in each other's eyes.

This victory... came too easily...

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Bagman roared, "At this moment, the Hogwarts champions team has already locked in the championship of this year's Triwizard Tournament!"

"Hmph! How boring. I'm going back first." Karkaroff snorted coldly and stood up abruptly. He put on an appearance of uncontrollable anger, wanting to leave the seat early.

However, before he could take a step, Dumbledore spoke up to keep him: "Karkaroff, with so many people watching, you need to show the demeanor of a headmaster."

"Of course," he said gently, "If you're really upset, I can accompany you for a walk to relax. Consider it fulfilling my duty as a host."

Dumbledore had already heard from Grindelwald about the things that would happen today, including Karkaroff using the Imperius Curse on his students.

At first, he didn't believe that the other party would do such a despicable thing, but the performance of the Durmstrang champions dispelled his last illusions.

Because of this, Dumbledore had no intention of giving Karkaroff a chance to escape.

Dumbledore's attitude made Karkaroff somewhat suspicious and uncertain. He wasn't sure if Dumbledore had seen through anything.

But in any case, it was impossible to leave by force. He snorted coldly again and sat down sullenly, making everyone think that he was unhappy because Durmstrang had lost.

On the other side, Harry and the others once again embarked on a journey through the maze.

Compared to the first level of the maze, the second level was much more difficult. They encountered plant traps Devil's Snare and tumbleweeds of thorns one after another, and then defeated the Turbot Warts Hog and the Acromantula.

After using the Patronus Charm to drive away the Dementors that Sebastian had placed in the maze as hired help, they encountered the Sphinx guarding the entrance to the third level.

This is a XXXX-level magical creature originating from ancient Egypt, very powerful, and likes to make people guess riddles.

However, the well-prepared Harry and the others each threw out a Muggle math problem before the other party could open their mouths, and then easily bypassed the other party after they fell into contemplation and came to the third level of the maze.

This level was empty. In the center was a stone table with the ultimate goal of this tournament, the championship trophy, on it.
