Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#296 - Dress
Godric's Hollow, Dumbledore's old house, Hermione was barefoot, sprawled on the leather sofa in the living room, flipping through "The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts." Outside the window, heavy rain poured down, the raindrops like the drumbeats of time, densely and powerfully striking the transparent glass window, making a crisp and pleasant pattering sound.
The plump Tom, with two packages in his claws, flew in from outside the house through the rain. After casually dropping the packages on the living room floor, he vigorously flapped his wings, his body shaking violently, scattering droplets everywhere.
"Have the items on the school supplies list been delivered?" Jerry, attracted by the noise downstairs, hurried down from the second-floor stairs, his gaze immediately falling on the two newly appeared packages on the floor.
"Most likely!" Hermione quickly jumped up from the sofa, not even bothering to put on her shoes, and eagerly rushed towards the packages. She deftly untied the straps, revealing the books and various items they would need for the next semester.
These were all bought by Dumbledore for Jerry and Hermione in Diagon Alley. Due to the chaos caused by the Death Eaters at the Quidditch World Cup, the British wizarding world is now on full alert. Many places, including Diagon Alley, have strengthened security measures, making it extremely inconvenient to enter and exit. That's why Dumbledore bought these things and had Tom deliver them.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Magic had become a complete mess. Letters of Howlers filled with anger flew into the Ministry of Magic like snowflakes, the kind that would explode on the spot if you didn't open them immediately.
Rita Skeeter, a reporter with little professional ethics, was even busier. She scurried around, trying to dig up more unknown things within the Ministry of Magic.
She also investigated the disappearance of Bertha Jorkins and quickly occupied the headlines of yesterday's newspaper, arousing widespread attention and panic throughout the British wizarding world. Some even speculated that Bertha Jorkins had been captured and killed by Voldemort's minions! Jerry could only say to this… they guessed right!
"By the way, Jerry, is your dress robe ready?" Hermione carefully sorted out the textbooks, quills, and parchment from the package, while turning to look at Jerry, her eyes sparkling with anticipation and curiosity.
Hermione kept imagining in her mind the scene of Jerry wearing a dress robe, smiling gently at her in a refined manner, surely like a prince in a fairy tale.
Unlike in the past, this year's Hogwarts acceptance letter specifically instructed students to prepare a dress robe to take to school.
Before Jerry could answer, another soaking wet owl, with a delicate box tightly tied to the rope on its claws, struggled to fly into the house from the rain. Finally, after gently placing the box on the floor, the owl collapsed on the floor, exhausted and motionless. It looked like it was completely worn out!
"Look, my dress robe has arrived!" Jerry announced with a smile, then grabbed a small handful of nuts from Tom's food bowl and placed them near the new owl's beak. However, this action aroused Tom's dissatisfaction. He seemed very annoyed by Jerry "appropriating" his food to entertain other "uninvited guests." Why not take food from the new lazy cat's bowl?
"Go away, get lost!" Jerry gently pushed the huddled-up Tom, who looked like a fat black chicken, with his foot. His sharp eyes stared at the new owl, making the latter feel a chill, not daring to easily eat the nuts at its beak. Only after Jerry chased Tom away did the owl dare to cautiously enjoy the nuts.
"Who sent this?" Hermione glanced at the sender on the box, which read Rosier.
"It's Dumbledore's… um… a special friend?" Jerry replied hesitantly, secretly adding in his heart, more accurately, they are actually rivals in love!
Jerry gently opened the lid of the box, revealing a black French tuxedo, the peaked lapel design highlighting an extraordinary temperament, and the double-breasted buttons adding a bit of solemnity and vintage charm. In addition, the box also carefully included two shirts, one with a point collar and one with a wing collar, for Jerry to choose according to his preference.
"Oh, my goodness!" Hermione picked up the black bow tie, her eyes sweeping over the other exquisite matching accessories in the box. Then, she lightly touched the fabric of the dress robe, the delicate texture causing her to exclaim in admiration.
"Jerry, try it on quickly, see if the dress robe fits! Right now!" Hermione's tone was full of anticipation, as if she could already foresee what Jerry would look like after putting it on, surely elegant and unparalleled.
As Hermione spoke, she couldn't wait to pick up the box containing the dress robe, pushing Jerry towards the dressing room on the second floor with a mixture of excitement and anticipation.
Hermione paced back and forth at the entrance of the dressing room. After a while, Jerry emerged from the dressing room, dressed elegantly.
Hermione's gaze instantly locked onto Jerry, her cheeks involuntarily flushed with a hint of crimson, like peach blossoms blooming in spring. She slightly pursed her somewhat dry lips, trying to swallow the dryness in her throat, attempting to calm the agitation in her heart.
"Jerry…" Her voice was as soft as a mosquito's hum.
Jerry stood in front of the mirror, gently adjusting his bow tie, a confident smile on the corner of his lips: "Well, it looks okay, it fits pretty well."
Seeing this, Hermione quietly walked to the window, gently opening it to let a cool breeze brush her face, trying to restore clarity to her slightly chaotic thoughts. Then, she slowly walked around to Jerry's side, carefully looking him over, not wanting to miss a single angle.
"Jerry… have you worn a dress robe before?" She finally couldn't help but ask, her voice still low and shy.
"Of course, I wore one when I attended a birthday banquet for an elder in America." Jerry nodded. He had worn dress robes both on the cruise ship and at Seraphina Picquery's birthday dinner in America. Even after returning to the manor after the dinner, Katherine couldn't bear to let him take it off.
Hermione was both surprised and fascinated. This complex feeling made her heart beat faster and her thoughts flutter.
