Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#338 - Bathilda Bagshot's Arrival
As June quietly arrived, a tense yet excited atmosphere permeated the castle. The students were all eagerly awaiting the final match of the Triwizard Tournament at the end of the semester. The match was scheduled for the evening of the students' last exam, after the end-of-year feast.
During this time, Jerry didn't deliberately prepare for the competition. He didn't have to take the final exams, but Harry kept coming to him, and he had promised Sirius, so Jerry taught Harry several spells, such as the shattering charm, the directional charm, and the protective Protego, among others. With Ron and Neville helping him practice, Harry learned at a decent pace.
Sirius still lived in the cave outside Hogsmeade. He sent Harry a letter almost every day via owl, reminding him to stay vigilant and safe, and to focus on safely navigating the maze and completing the competition, with other matters to be dealt with later.
As June 24th approached, Harry couldn't help but feel nervous, but compared to how nervous he was before the previous two tasks, to the point of losing his appetite, he was much better this time.
"Don't be nervous, Harry, you've already done your best!" Ron patted Harry on the shoulder, reassuring him.
"Don't worry, Ron, I'm in pretty good shape. After all, this is the last task, and no matter the outcome, the Triwizard Tournament will finally be over." Harry took a deep breath and said with a smile, "Besides, compared to us, Jerry is much more powerful! Everyone seems to think Jerry will ultimately win, so his pressure should be a little greater than mine!"
"Pressure?" Jerry merely smiled faintly upon hearing this, shaking his head gently, "I don't need to prove how powerful I am through a competition!"
Jerry's tone revealed a sense of detachment and confidence.
On the day of the competition, the Great Hall of Hogwarts was bustling with noise and excitement, far exceeding usual. At breakfast, two owls each carrying a lucky charm from Sirius landed beside Harry and Jerry's plates.
Sirius' lucky charm was simply a folded piece of parchment, with a slightly muddy paw print on it.
At the same time, Hermione received the "Daily Prophet" she had specifically ordered. She quickly opened the newspaper, and her eyes barely touched the front page when she choked on her pumpkin juice and started coughing.
"What's wrong?" Jerry asked curiously, craning his neck to look at the newspaper in Hermione's hand. The headline read about Harry's scar suddenly hurting during a Divination lesson.
During last week's Divination class, this reporter personally witnessed Harry Potter suddenly rush out of the classroom, constantly crying out in pain from his scar, unable to continue participating in the lesson.
Regarding the scar pain described by Harry, senior experts from St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries provided a professional analysis. They believe that Potter's brain may be suffering from the effects of dark magic left behind by the Dark Lord, and his mental state is very chaotic.
Potter is a Parselmouth (source: Draco Malfoy). During a series of student attacks two years ago, many believed Potter was the mastermind behind these attacks, especially his behavior in the Duelling Club, where Potter recklessly released a venomous snake to attack a fellow student.
Albus Dumbledore, as the Headmaster of Hogwarts, should carefully weigh the suitability of allowing Harry Potter to participate in the Triwizard Tournament. Many fear that Potter may resort to using dark magic to achieve his goals due to an excessive desire to win.
"Rita Skeeter wrote another article about me?" Harry joked, feigning ease, "Don't worry, I'm immune to her tricks now, and I won't get angry because of it!"
"The problem is, how did she know about your scar hurting in Divination class?" Ron frowned, "She couldn't have been in the classroom at the time."
"Hmm..." Harry pondered for a moment, "I remember the window was open at the time, I wanted some fresh air. Maybe the sound accidentally drifted out?"
"But the Divination classroom is on the highest floor of the North Tower!" Hermione said, slowly raising her hand and unconsciously smoothing her hair, "How could your voice possibly travel that far?"
Suddenly, Hermione's eyes lit up, as if struck by inspiration. She quietly leaned close to Jerry's ear and whispered in a voice only they could hear.
Upon hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed across Jerry's face, and he nodded. Jerry didn't expect Hermione to think of Animagi.
"Indeed!" Hermione lightly thumped the table after seeing Jerry nod in agreement with her idea. "Harry, just you wait, I'll definitely help you get revenge and make her shut her mouth in the future!" Hermione said, pointing to Rita Skeeter's name on the newspaper.
"Jerry, Potter, after you finish breakfast, go to the meeting room next to the Great Hall to assemble," Professor McGonagall said, walking to the long table.
"But... doesn't the competition start tonight?" In surprise, Harry accidentally slipped with his fork, and the golden scrambled eggs splattered on his robes. He hurriedly checked the date, thinking he had mistaken the time.
"Mr. Potter, I haven't mistaken the time," Professor McGonagall said, "All the champions will be there, and your relatives have been specially invited to watch the final."
Harry watched Professor McGonagall walk away, a look of disbelief in his eyes.
"She... she doesn't really think the Dursleys would come to Hogwarts, does she?" Harry turned to look at Jerry, his voice tinged with confusion.
Hermione and the others packed up to take their last exam, while Jerry and Harry arrived at the door of the meeting room.
Jerry's relative would undoubtedly be Dumbledore. If Grindelwald were to attend, then regardless of whether Voldemort successfully resurrected after the competition tonight, the European wizarding world would go crazy!
Jerry pushed open the door to the meeting room. Cedric was standing near the wall not far from the door with his parents. Mr. Diggory, his father, looked very excited. Krum was speaking in Bulgarian, which no one else could understand, while talking with his parents. On the other side, Fleur and her parents were speaking French, and Jerry could only understand a little.
Harry's relatives who came were not the Dursleys, but Mrs. Weasley.
Fleur's younger sister, Gabrielle, tightly held her mother's hand. When Gabrielle saw Jerry walk in from outside the meeting room, she gently tugged on her sister Fleur and mother's sleeves, pointing at Jerry and giggling behind her hand.
Jerry smiled and nodded to them. Then his gaze slowly swept across the meeting room. Surprisingly, Dumbledore was not in the meeting room. In the corner, he found Bathilda Bagshot sitting quietly beside the sofa.
Bathilda Bagshot was wearing a dark green dress, her white hair was carefully styled, and she was wearing a pair of old-fashioned glasses, looking at Jerry with a kind smile.
"Long time no see, Mrs. Bagshot!" Jerry quickly stepped forward. "I didn't expect it to be you. I thought it would be Dumbledore!"
"Dumbledore is busy today," Mrs. Bathilda Bagshot said with a smile, gently patting the back of Jerry's hand. "Gellert would never show up in this kind of occasion, and as for Aberforth, it seems Dumbledore doesn't think he's suitable to be here either!"
"I was so happy when Dumbledore invited me! I've heard about your performance in the first two tasks. Good luck, child, I'm proud of you!"
"Take this old bone of mine for a walk around Hogwarts!" Mrs. Bathilda Bagshot said as she slowly stood up, her cane gently touching the ground, making a steady sound. "As time goes by, I can't even remember when I last came to Hogwarts."
Seeing this, Jerry quickly helped the old lady and left the meeting room.
"Just," Fleur's father, Mr. Delacour, frowned slightly, saying with a serious face, "Dear, did you notice who was next to Jerry Green just now?"
"It seems to be the author of 'A History of Magic', Mrs. Bagshot."
"It's Bathilda Bagshot," Mr. Delacour nodded. "What is her relationship with Jerry Green, and why would she be here today?"
